Well, even though I've always wanted Gavin to be king, there is no way he, or anybody could possibly beat the madness and genius of King Ryan. Wasn't sure what to make of Ryan when I first saw him, but he has easily become one of the most entertaining of the AH Crew. And fucking brilliant for using Edgar as the boss.
Easily the best King lets play. Possibly the best minecraft lets play they've put out

I would just like to thank the people who, even though i posted this 4 months ago, are still 1+'ing this comment. Did not think i would still be getting updates about it.

This episode truly showed us what experiments Ryan has performed on Edgar.
Within the Kung Fu house, Ryan was experimenting on Edgar's brain, trying to turn him into a minion, in hopes of making himself a monster... that would finally let him take over Achievement city from Geoff's fair rule. For months he has worked tirelessly, brainwashing Edgar into forgetting his peaceful and simple life as a cow, and making him into a ruthless killer. Ryan, through cruel and mysterious methods, taught Edgar how to fight with a sword and armor, and made him into a hunter, and created a mythology inspired lair for him, hidden beneath the Edgar pit.
And now, with this final king-task, he hoped to finally kill all who opposed his rule, and to permanently make himself "The Mad King" of Achievement city, by throwing them into his maze of death, stalked by his newly transformed monster: EDGAR
Can an unlikely hero survive the trap, and bring down the Mad King once and for all?

Michael's "We're Edgar" gives me an idea for a great twist. Ryan floods the hole with lava and kills them all. Therefore, he has killed Edgar. Therefore, he wins. Long live the Once and Future Mad King.

Gavin's victory at the end was pretty clutch. A few seconds later and "Edgar" might have healed up and been that much harder to take down. I'm excited to see King Gavin even though I already know it won't be as...... different... as Ryan's.
Ryan is truly the mad king. All the challenges that he tortured the others with only to give them that final challenge. I won't spoil what it was, but this lets play got my favourite and only two others where able to make that, and all of them are really good, this stood out!
Ryan had definitely set a precedent for the King series. One of the most well thought out LP's they've done in general. Kudos Ryan!

this was really interesting, but my throat REALLY hurts from screaming on the fight to kill edgar. The way Ryan did this was REALLYYYY INTERESTING, BUT I HONESTLY CANNOT WAIT FOR KING GAVIN.
Ray should get to be his jester/assistant for 2nd place and Kerry should compete for the Tower, I think that would be awesome !

I feel like Ryan should do make his own Minecraft Let's Play idea where he doesn't have to use King's rules and sets up a story-driven Let's Play.
He seems to have a knack for story-based game design, and considering the time he put into this one, must be fond of doing so. Seeing something so put together as opposed to the usual Let's Plays was a really nice surprise, and I hope to see it again soon -cough- Episode 100 -cough-

Ryan has some excellent ideas as King. I hope that some of his brilliance seeps into the other Let's Plays.
Ryan is the most creative person at Achievement Hunter. Gavin and Goeff should consult him more often for let's play and things to do ideas.
And to think, a portion of the community hated him before Edgar came about. This Let's Play should sway those who still think little of him.

The tale of the entity dubbed "Edgar" is as sinister as it is open-ended; I recognize that my interpretation of this video's events won't likely satisfy everyone, especially those who wish to preserve the legend.
As far as I'm concerned, the tournament (its final phase, anyway) was engineered via Edgar's influence on Ryan or vice versa---the exact nature of their relationship is, of course, unknown to the public. I posit that it was a test to determine either the extent of Edgar's capabilities or Ryan's willingness to protect "him", depending on which of the two conceived it. Whatever circumstances provoked this reciprocal challenge are beyond my comprehension, but the results seem clear enough: Edgar was indeed killed in that maze beneath Achievement City. As Gavin hacked the bovine avatar to pieces, the limits of both Edgar's endurance and Ryan's devotion were realized.
While I can't say whether Ryan anticipated this outcome, I have little doubt that the slain creature was an authentic incarnation of Edgar. The mass animal sacrifice (in preparation for an occult ritual), the corruption of an eager young subordinate (for use as a personification of Edgar's will), the sudden presence of cows in the tunnels (as a symbolic herald of his demise)... Coupled with an environment that looks too complete---and inspires too much dread---to be a hoax, these facts (supported by the inferences I've drawn from them) lead me to believe that this was the end of Edgar as Ryan knew him. It came about with no crescendo, no striking effect, no spectacular finale to an existence most of us can only puzzle over---just the raucous cries of the champion and his fellows as the carcass crumpled unceremoniously to the ground.
Definitive answers might surface someday and thoroughly debunk me, if the Mad King's cold heart ever again chills the throne. Until that time, however, we can only speculate about the ambiguities scattered throughout these records. As I sit here and do so, my thoughts inexorably cycle back to a single question, which is perhaps the most disturbing mystery left for us in the aftermath of this grim, yet oh-so-fascinating story:
Was Edgar the _source_ or the _result_ of Ryan's depravity?
edgar is not a entity, its a label. As said by the mad king itself "edgar is the one in the hole" so edgar cant never be killed, just replaced.

Just had a brilliant idea for a Thing's to do/Let's Play based on what Gavin did at 32:46. Create a sort of maze/labyrinth in the dark, fill it with zombies or dispensers filled with zombie eggs, have everyone wear zombie skins with the names turned off (everyone sets their spawn points in different, zombie safe, areas) and then challenge the players to find the other players and kill them. Kind of a deadly game of 1st Person Where's Waldo I guess. Probably better ways to refine the idea.

Secretly, Mad King Ryan has been training Edgar since the day he caught him, turning him into the cow he is today. All his hard work, training him in the bowels of Achievement City, feeding him his own brothers and sisters, all for this, to be used as a guardian of Ryan's Labyrinth.
And thus, Edgar will be there, training his fellow Edgar's, so that one day the Mad King will once again rule over the lands as the one

Wait what? The Minotaur was born when King Minos failed to sacrifice a prized bull to the God Poseidon, so Poseidon cursed Minos' wife, Pasiphae, to fall madly in love with the bull. She in turn approaches Daedelus to construct an artificial cow she can hide in so the Bull will mount her.
Bestiality ensues, out pops the minotaur and Minos has Daedelus construct the Labyrinth to hide him away.

He slew a mad beast, imprisoned for an age within a small cell, fed only the flesh of his flesh, tasting the freedom of death only to find itself reborn into madness time and again. In his madness, the Mad King fashioned for himself a vessel that he may live forever by ancient trans-spiritation rituals. The vessel, "Edgar" he came to call it, had finally become ready to host such a powerful madness and needed only the blood sacrifice of the Mad King's eternal opponents. In celebration, a festival of destruction and death was held that left the very center of the Kingdom in ruins, a testament to the Mad King's vision of a new future.
Once again had a champion attained the sacred Tower, the rite culminating in a new order repeated so often to hold the world in stability. So boldly did the Mad King dare to profane the most hallowed tradition by casting down the holy relic and declaring himself King forevermore. Depending on their unrest, the Mad King pronounced a new tradition. A single contest to determine the true successor.
The champions marched with purpose into the labyrinth, unsuspecting of what they may find. One by one did the Mad Beast slaughter and feast upon the blood of Kings until but one remained. The Mad King watched with a smirk in his heart as only the Fool was left. With this last sacrifice, the Mad King's soul would be forever bound to the accursed, undying Beast. But something went terribly wrong. The Fool had found the Beast unawares, stumbling into the horrid monster's backside with a sword of diamond. The Beast bled heavily and as it lay upon the cold bedrock, slipping once again into that deathless slumber, it looked up into the face of the Fool who had slain him.
A giddy, foolish smile crept across the Fool's face as he laughed in victory. In that glance, the Beast saw hope for the true freedom it had so long yearned for. The ritual was still in effect, the blood of the myriad champions still welled within and screamed for freedom as well. The Beast hoisted itself to a knee, held it's head toward the sky it could no longer remember and let out a deep, bleating laugh. The fire of torment spilled from it's mouth as the raw power of a thousand dead kings welled up within. With a knowing smile, the Beast exploded loosing the vengeful energy that the Mad King would keep as his own upon the man himself. A great fire overtook the King's body, burning it away into nothingness, severing at last the bond between Man and Monster.
From the ash, the Crown of the Kingdom was plucked by the hands of a Fool. And as it was set upon his brow, the Fool saw the Kingdom reborn once more and the cycle would continue...

For the next King Boss Fight, the King will deck out in full enchanted diamond armor and enchanted diamond sword and bow, with the arena being the labyrinth under Ryan's house, only now half flooded with lava, with the other half littered with dispensers attached to pressure plates that release even more lava.
Here's hoping to someone topping the fight in this episode.
OIther idea, the area in front of the throne is now rigged with pistons that will bury the competitors six blocks below. Gavin will burn them all, defending his throne.
