Sometimes I want to make a game which is like a WWI management game, where you pretty much go from digging the trench to rotating soldiers in and out.. This just gets me in the mood..
ever since the day I bought verdun in November I think theres been one of the songs stuck in my head every single day. I don't suicide would even help with this
+Julian Grosso if you mean the death of young soldiers who were fighting for your freedom is epic then sure but it was one of the most horrific times in the 20th century
I wouldn't call it moralizing, people really thought WW1 was going to far, both during and after the war. One French lieutenant at Verdun wrote "Humanity is mad. It must be mad to do what it is doing. What a massacre! What scenes of horror and carnage! I cannot find words to translate my impressions. Hell cannot be so terrible. Men are mad!" (he would later die from artillery in the same battle). One of the biggest reasons people in France and the UK were so reluctant to stand up to Hitler was their experiences just 20 years before. When French prime minister Edouard Daladier, himself a WW1 veteran, returned from the Munich Conference where Czechoslovakia was abandoned by the UK and France, he was greeted by cheering crowds because they thought he had just prevented another war (similarly, when British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain returned from the conference and uttered the "peace in our times" phrase, he was also being cheered on). Of course, Daladier thought the crowd was being oblivious and muttered to his aid "Ah, les cons!" "Morons!" because he had received information as early as 1932 that Germany was rearming, and that they wouldn't stop at the Sudetenland. I mean just consider the Battle of Verdun alone. The battlefield, once a forest, was shelled so hard that craters eventually started becoming filled with muddy ooze, and it wasn't unheard of for men to lose their balance in one of them only to drown in the mud at the bottom. It was really a living hell.
+Ash Case Unfortunately, I have performance issues with this game, even if my computer is an extremely good PC, the game itself is not really well optimized.
Why they didn't put the Russians, the Ottomans, Austro-Hungarians, the Italians ? Because for now, they are just focussing on the western front and they are still working on it.
@@floo1465 This wasn't recorded with microphones, they weren't used in recorded music until 1925. This was recorded by Arthur Fields in 1918 singing into a giant horn. You can read up about it here. www.loc.gov/jukebox/about/acoustical-recording

+Greeky Roman Did you expect a 100-year-old record player to sound as crisp and fresh as Katy Perry?
Greeky Roman Oh, God, the 12 year olds are here. It’s recording static. Microphones are much better than they were when this was recorded
