    Glad to see some real-play! I want to run HEART for friends once we can meet in-person again.

    Duvesa: *eats it immediately* Can I get that recipe?

    Planning on running Heart for my group once our current campaign is done. Amazing to see this here!

      Heart's a great game! You'll have to let me know how it goes. This was one of the first games we streamed on the channel. Feels like forever ago. Are you using any Heart supplements?

      @@AdventuresinLollygagging I’m using all supplements, that’s my plan at least. Also curious: any advice. This group is used to dark story telling but they can also be very goofy, honestly not too different from watching these streams. So if you have any advice I’d appreciate it.

    this was one of the first campaigns that I watch where I found adventures in lollygagging. I can't believe it's been 2 years already... The pandemic stole a whole 2 years almost.

      I know what you mean! Time just doesn't make sense to me. We're actually going to play more Heart over on Grim & Perilous Plays, starting this weekend. It was shocking when I realized it had been two years since I last ran it...

    I just found this Playlist, I can't wait to watch this actual play series. I love Spire and Heart the City Beneath.

      Hi Aaron! I hope you enjoy it. When I saw Heart on Kickstarter a while back, it was an instant back for me. Love the theme, the rules, the system, the art. I want to play it again sometime soon and use some of the supplements that have released since I ran this.

      @aaronupchurch7967 3 года назад +1

      @@AdventuresinLollygagging I love it too. I am really intruiged by the Vermissian Black Ops source book and how it ties Heart into the Spire struggle and then of course the Doors to Elsewhere for something completely different. That strikes me as a Cynosure (Grimjack comics) kind of feel.

    • @AdventuresinLollygagging
      @AdventuresinLollygagging  3 года назад +1

      @@aaronupchurch7967 Doors to Elsewhere looks like an absolute blast to include. I also really like Sanctum and its more nuanced landmark creation rules. It seems like a fun way to do some collaborative worldbuilding in a session 0, find ways to tie the party together, etc. Delving is still my favorite part of Heart, so even if I were to use Sanctum, I'd still want significant roaming and delving throughout.

    • @aaronupchurch7967
      @aaronupchurch7967 3 года назад +1

      @@AdventuresinLollygagging exactly, delving is still what I love most but being able to do some collaborative world building adds an interesting "game within the game". That kind of roleplay is one of the reasons I love Vaesen and Mutant Year Zero so much.

    • @AdventuresinLollygagging
      @AdventuresinLollygagging  3 года назад +1

      @@aaronupchurch7967 Agreed on collaborative world building. We're starting up a Things from the Flood game on Monday, and we're going to try a little session-zero sandbox building for the mystery landscape. I think that kind of process helps with player buy-in and such too.

    It looks the GM has chosen the players' beats for the players, which changes the game in quite a big way, making it run like most other games rather than like Heart. Have I got that right or did the players choose their beats and the DM is explaining them to the audience? People can play however they enjoy playing but I'm looking to see heart played in the unique(AFAIK) and chaotic way the game was designed. Does the DM hand that agency back to the players in later episodes?

    • @AdventuresinLollygagging
      @AdventuresinLollygagging  6 месяцев назад +1

      Truly no idea what you're talking about. I didn't choose the players' beats. They chose their own.

      @@AdventuresinLollygagging
      Great. Sorry I misunderstood. I guess it's a long time ago for you, but about 35 minutes in it sounded like you were talking to the players and explaining what beats were and how certain parts of the story might be their beats. I guess you must have been talking to the audience though.

    • @AdventuresinLollygagging
      @AdventuresinLollygagging  6 месяцев назад +1

      Gotcha, and no worries! I just listened back. Yeah, that was just talking to the audience to explain the concept and what the players took. Player beats are one my favorite aspects of the system. @@olliewigg1
