There are games throughout history that will never die. Pac-Man, Super Mario Bros., Street Fighter 2, Doom... etc... I was 16 when Doom was first released in 1993. Well, it's 2022, I'm 45 and classic Doom is still huge with people still modding and mapping the crap out of it... and it's still more fun to play than most games that have came out over the years.
Yep. I was 1 year old when it released and I have vague memories of seeing it in the 90s, but it really became significant to me because we could easily distribute and run modernized versions of it in the High school computer lab even with the systems being reset every day.
I remember porting Doom monsters into the build engine as a teenager in the 90s. I learned a lot about computer programming and game design as a result.
Finally, someone's done something with doom that isn't unnecessary bollocks changing it into something it isn't or updating it to the point it's unrecognisable. This looks amazing
Agreed in Duke Nukem and even more so in Blood. The first time I shot the explosive canisters in Duke and watched the world shake added so much to the experience. Then in Blood when I threw a bundle of dynamite and watched the cultists and zombies go flying through the air was a laugh riot.
Now imagine if Doom 2016 or eternal were like this, the more modern gameplay but with the classic level style instead of just arena shooting, along with monster infighting and such

Dude. Your videos are so high quality and so are the mods you showcase. Hope you do some more Fallout New Vegas stuff or maybe do some Fallout 4 stuff soon!
My personal recommendation for a Build-like stylized vanilla gameplay mod is Beautiful Doom. It looks incredible on every front, and it lets you toggle between a pure vanilla gameplay, an enhanced version with alt-fires and a modernized style I'm not really a fan of, but it might have its fans. Regardless of each player's choice, it looks incredible.
Lmao this was posted in my birthday! I bout the Doom Bunlden recently and I've been playing older Doom games as I did back in the day, these mods look great!
Here is my recommendation for underrated doom gameplay mods. The False Angel, it is literally devil may cry / bayonetta doom. It came out less than a month ago. Nice job getting a sponsorship! What wad were you playing at 5:48?
Nobody Told Me About id looks very interesting, a lot of iconic FPS used Build Engine, and it also permits to have a lot of details. About Doom Delta, being able to chose your character and having different skills according your choice is something I love. Both because it reminds me of games like Streets of Rage and because not all FPS players want to go fast, so having a character who can take more damage, but who is slower, which is supposed to be something less appealing, could be perfect when you want to play chill...
Glad you found a sponsor, a interesting idea would be to analize doom mods that try to replicate other games into doom, for example the team Fortress mod or even wolfendoom!
Mostly a time/scope deal. The Doom mentioned in the Doom Bible is a completely different beast than the Doom we got. Originally, Doom was basically going to be a mix of an adventure game and an FPS. The scope of what was possible at the time greatly outweighed ID's team, so they just made a FPS instead. Bits of the Doom Bible would go on to influence Rise of the Triad. Mainly because the author of the Doom Bible, Tom Hall, also worked on that game.
Some of it was technically never added, like the multiple characters, Dark Claw, or the Unmaker, and the BFG was changed to the one we know and love due to technical limitations at the time
shame nobody told me about id hasn't been updated in quite a while, it has potential to be one of the greatest doom mods ever but, in my opinion, it still needs more work.
this is awesome, just WOW! recently started to play doom enchanced and damn, its quite hard (since I havent played anything for a long time) =P maybe I`ll give this mod a try:) doom came out in 1993, big respects to the modders who keep that gem alive💪
Build engine games are awesome for all these little details, i would love if they made a modern game with those little details, like imagine the explosions are so powerful they literally shake the screen.... It's almost a little sad because i know if they did a new Duke Nukem with those little things along with good secrets and a giga Chad no bs friend persona of Duke Nukem would absolutely fly especially if we look at doom eternal but like you say it's not strict "arena shooter" it's an open shooter but you have the powers of a guy that is in arena shooters like only in duke 3D you could say "boost jumped up to the roof of the bank and took the secret entrance through the hatch" most games with realistic settings don't have powerful characters or fun design, but duke implemented that but still kept things alot fun because it was nonlinear and interactive.
A lot of the Doom Delta Wad footage looks to be computer generated maps from ObAddon or Obsidian. There is some Akeldama footage in there, but just felt like Obsidian/ObAddon getting a shoutout.

I've always been wondering if it was possible to recreate Tom Hall's vision for / version of Doom in GZDoom. This video confirmed the answer as yes. yes. YES!!! :)
Cool and a modern remake would with true 3D models even better. Not without ammo limit or rock paper scissors enemies but just shooting like the original.
@@Mutant_Mods You said "The super shotgun now uses the unfinished pump action super shotgun sprites, but don't worry...". Either way. there is no pump action of any kind going on with those sprites because it's a break action shotgun. Maybe you're just repeating what the creator said and that's fine. It's not really a big deal.

i think i figured out why doom decided to have centre alligned weapons they started off with the pistol, and well when youre holding a pistol with two hands it IS centre allinged. so they just did it for all the other guns for consistency. idk why it took me years for that to click
I think it would just be awkward for a game where you could only look left to right, to have angled weapons. They surely thought of this. There’s also no means for you to aim at your target.
How do you swap between the weapon firing modes and ammo types? I also can't find where to cycle through inventory items. I also don't have any of the alternate weapons :(
Not sure about those versions. I used it in both 4.7 and 4.6. I read that in gzdoom version 4.80 something about intermission screens changed causing the breakage. That was fixed
