Ruyi had told Consort Shu that there is always a 30% poison with the medicine that they use is harmful to the body and she took it daily, more so than when the Emperor flips her tag. The reason why is if you go back to the episode when Yongcong got the pox Ruyi overheard the Emperor speaking to Physician Qi (I think could be wrong on the name) on how he knew she was one of the spies that were following orders from Empress Dowager and how he wouldn't let her have his child. I'm just saying that the Emperor just sucks major balls (as well as Consort Ling)
@@tamiathompson3426 But remember, Ling took the same contraceptive as Shu and Ling was able to have multiple pregancies and live births. @RebeccaWalker is correct, it was the drugs Lancui was putting in Shu's food that caused the problems with the baby and Shu's kidney. No one caught it except the Empress Dowager and Fujia (ep 57- 58)! That's why Ruyi . Shu and the Emperor all think it's the contraceptive that did the damage to Shu. The Empress Dowager is the cause of some much heartache. If she had just told them what Ling had done, but no - she needed a new pawn.
