There is big difference between Ruyi's mother and Langhua's mother. Ruyi's mother always hopes her daughter live happily while Langhua's mother keep pushing Langhua to gain more power for Fuca clan.
Ruyi’s family are nobility Class with not much power since Ruyi’s aunt killed her sister.
Langhua’s family is military power, warriors Nobility class.. kill for hire.. thus is why Empress Dowager forced emperor to marry as He must not piss them off and marrying their sister makes them “family” which is supposedly high motivation to fight/ die for family.. right?
They see high pay and status just isn’t enough.. power at the top with only the Empress child being officially heir for The throne.
And she wants Ruyi's siblings to lie low and be happy, rather than get mixed up in any court mess.

Their happy days finally after many years of suffering. The calm before the storm.
I've binge watched dozens of clips all out of order the previous weekend and keep clicking on more that come up on my feed.
Now I've seen most of the story and I'm really glad I saw this one at their happiest moments.
At this point I can't bear seeing any more intrigue and hate against Ruyi.
She's innocent and never deserved ask the hardship and suffering the stupid emperor and evil concubines put her through.

In a way he did keep the promise, asking her to walk with him like that forever. He kept the promise when he died by putting his hair with hers. They really are between the sky and heaven.
I was so happy at this portion of the series. I was rooting for them. He always seem to have harsh at punishments for Ruyi and took it easy on the others who legit had HIS OTHER WIVES AND CHILDREN KILLED. Smdh
I keep watching this vs that final scene where Ruyi quote the words to emperor... If only he wasn't such a lousy and terrible person... Poor Ruyi.

How come hai lan can still refer to ruyi as jie jie but ruyi's mother refers to her as empress?
Hai Lan calls Ruyi 姐姐 (which literally means older sister) because they are really close. Ruyi never asked her to respect their positions and calling someone who is not from your family 姐姐 denotes a really close relationship. When they are with other consorts they do not trust Hailan calls Ruyi 皇后 (Empress).
