What are your thoughts on Profotos new direction? Personally we love it.
Available now in store, online links available soon.
I’d prefer a small hot shoe light like this for camera. Something even more portable than the a1.
Since today billions of people uses iPhone takes photos, this will open a great area for Profoto.
The price has dropped to $299 from $500. It's still overpriced by at least a factor of 2.
I'd buy it if it was like $50, but definitely not at $500.
Overpriced, would rather grab the Godox smartphone flash that has already been out for a long time.
Also: never call these dome-like modifiers “soft light”. They are only soft for macro-size subjects. For portraiture, these kind of lights are hard lights.
In today's perfect world who cares about soft or hard light all now people wants photo from phone and post as quickly as on social media...hahaha, I think in sometime there will be 0% sale number on digital camera and studio professional lighting.
Great video. Just bought B10’s. Fell in love with profoto and thinking of getting one of these for my bag.
I already wondered why you did not mention the price.
500 $ is crazy!
Thanks for the Nice Breakdown of these lights!
Can i ask u about the gimbal’s name with x-pro2 at @00:25
Can it do hi speed sync?
Can you control C1 plus with A1x?
What is the maximum shooting distance when working with iphone
Can you do bokah with it?
THanks Georges! I am about to start a podcast and also incorporate still photos and I think this is a great, compact way of enhancing the mobile studio lifestyle. Chris
Great review! Thank you.
I am a Profoto owner ( two B1 and one B1X) and really like the quality and consistency of the light as well as the variety of light shaping tools available. Profoto is known in part for the prices they charge but no one to my knowledge complains about the quality except for the disasterous A1, which has been the subject of Forums, Facebook pages etc., for poor quality and repeated failures not to mention that other speed lights with proven quality and equal power are half the price. That being said the C1 at $300 and the C1 Plus at $500 is an example of Profoto attempting to capture a broader customer base with another insanely priced gimmick. Why would your average cell phone user spend $300 to $500 or more with accessories for a hand held light that is inconvenient to carry and use, and costs as much as the cell phone itself in many cases?
I can see it now, the cell phone user is trying to frame a shot requiring a flash (and apparently doesn't want to use the built-in flash of the cell phone. With one hand holding the cell phone, the user attempts to use the required two fingers to zoom in or out framing the shot, holds the C1 or C1 Plus in the other hand, which has a trigger button, and ends up with either a poor shot or drops the phone, light or both. Yeah that's the ticket. I just can't wait to get mine.
totally agree, i have a set of B7's, 3 x500, 2 i am not sure what but they 500's with batteries.., a pair of B10's and 3 A1's..those A1's are a disaster, not in the way they work but in the way they are built and the cost of repair..i recently had a head replaced at an astronomical fee and then I could hear something inside that was loose..i got busy but did not use it as i had 2 good ones..when i took it back they charged me another 40$ to correct something that was not my fault...this is after I had gone in originally telling them I had dropped the head even though it was under warranty..i guess they are just out for cash...these guys have become cowboys...anyway..all those people who buy this new crap...more fool them :) and anyway..Godox will bring out something in 6 months 1/3 of the price lol
Paul Macleod so drop profoto altogether I'd say...
Great Video!
iPhone 11 pro max about to be LIT 🔥
I'll save everyone money , use a flashlight or small led panel, same look , way cheaper
thank u
If the pro was 300 bucks I’d buy it honestly, but 500 is crazy
I haven't seen a video light offering so little for it's price. It is just ridiculous. They may go burst "selling" that crap!
The dome light cover is not Included..as you stated. its $49
Nope it is definitely included with the C1 Plus!
@@GeorgesCamerasTV B&H sats no..You say Yes...I have an email in with Profoto ..would like to get to the bottom of it..its $49 difference in my order and B&H has a $11 ding on Restock,..Would like to see your more cross over snaps on Canon/Sony...The triggers are as much as the flash.. this is like a gateway drug to Profoto...but i dig small and unobtrusive flash.
@@coffeygrinds It's included, the B&H staff is on drugs.
@@y0utube5uxx Correct I watched a ProFoto video and George is correct. It does come with the dome. Since Profoto didn't think enough to get back to me or make clearer..I pulled my order. They lost a sale. I'll wait till Godox comes out with something cheaper. Apple should jump into this space. I like the Idea.
@@coffeygrinds Would be interesting to see if Apple does produce their own hardware. In the pre launch at the presentation, Profoto stated that they worked closely with Apple in the development of these lights.
Godox, Please make us one of these for $50.00 Thank you.
Godox’s variant seems to be way better
Very funny ,now where’s the real product?
battery life
The price has dropped to $299 from $500. It's still overpriced by at least a factor of 2.
For 500$ i can buy a mirrorless camera and get better images...
I think the Godox a1 is a much better option
people getting paid to sell rubbish products...this is not valuable to Pros...this is a gimmick
It's not built for pros, but for regular iPhone users trying to learn artificial and mixed light and improve their photography.
@@y0utube5uxx then do not say it is useful for pros then, and for sure the architecture part was based on someone smoking crack
@@macleodfoto Agree.
Um no
I would also buy the plus for 150$ max but if godox is gonna copy it probably everyone is going to buy it from them for the fraction of the price.
Levente Gergő Rézsó Godox already has a smartphone light
iProfotos $500
Lume Cube did it first. 🤷🏾♂️
$500 for a tiny LED light? and for cell phone user? Bull shit!
I don’t care how fancy a light it is it, at the end of the day it is small! A small light source means a hard light. And some of those photo examples would be minimally affected by this puny light. Massive rip off for a useless product.
Bro, How much does profoto pay you to lie about how soft this tiny light is gonna be? There is absolutely no way a light that small is not going to be harsh. Anyone that knows anything about lighting knows this.
