People love to tell you about Mercedes lack of reliability but as a 3D time owner, all I can say is they last very well. If you find Mercedes unreliable I suggest you try BMWs for a change then you can really learn about unreliability. But, less power and torque from the new 6 cylinder compared to the current 550 means no deal from me. Put in the new 560 motor and we’ll talk but until then, why would I pay money to downgrade? Does Mercedes really think the buyers of these cars prefer economy over performance? If so they are delusional.
Definition of Coupe: Fixed roof and two doors. Slanting the back of a 4 door sedan doesn't magically make it a coupe. It's a damn sedan. If a sales person asked me if i wanted to check out the "coupe" & showed me a 4 door, i'd probably slap them upside the head and ask them to go away. i like the styling and just about everything about this car except the bold face lie of calling it a coupe.
Maui Chris - that's why they're called 4 door coupes. Times change, new products come out, definitions therefore change - keep up with it. What would you call them? (At least Audi calls theirs sportbacks. Is that better for you?)
a 4 door is a sedan, not a coupe, that's not new. we've been using coupe & sedan to define what a 2 door & what a 4 door car are for decades. this is nothing more than silly wanna be marketing. i'd call them what they are, a sedan.
@@crimson49er It is actually a Saloon not a Sedan :) .... In the UK anyway! You are right that it is not a Coupe though .... still getting a new one in a couple of months though! BTW a Sedan was an enclosed chair carried on poles by 2 chaps.... :) But then a Saloon was a main living room in a house or the posh bar in a pub - so what do we know :)
Jesper Danielsson 1. It’s annoying to have your engine randomly shut off. 2. It puts extra wear and tear on the starter and starting system (battery, etc). 3. Turbocharged engines should ALWAYS be allowed to cool down for minimum 30 seconds up to around 2 minutes at idle before shutting down. Failure to do so can cause coked oil buildup inside the turbo which will lead to oil consumption and can damage the turbo over time.
The Mercedes infotainment is fine, it is really not difficult at all to use after playing with it for a few minutes. Really don't understand why people complain about this. Its keeps your eyes on the road more because you don't have to be looking at the screen to find what you want to touch (like on a touchscreen). I have a C300 before you say I don't know what I'm talking about.
Especially the facelift 2015-2018 models with the P2 option. Gorgeous front headlights. The ordinal model had a great shape but those droopy eye front headlights are a drawback. I have a 2015 CLS400 I bought certified earlier this year. I get so many compliments on it.
Why does Mercedes-Benz keep shirking away from touchscreen technology? It's very practical, and ease of use is high. Can't afford one, buy love the design, mechanical and technology in 'em.
Don't like the ugly 'wart/growth' around the rear number plate though ... that is only on the US version. European versions look better at the back because of that. Check it out!
Too bad the US only get a 4 seater while Europe get a 5 passenger. 0-6 in 4.5 seconds and cramped headroom in the second row. Beautiful car but not quite big enough. Pricing should start around 80k.
Just don't like that tail with the sloping roof. I also don't like the steering wheel controls, too blingy. They need to tone it down a bit but it does look nice. Much rather get the BMW 5-series though, much sexier, just hate they don't offer Android Auto and nickel and dime you by charging for Apple Carplay.
I pity the broke ass used car buying fools owning this 10 years from now and the small independent shops that will be trying to work on these German Nightmares. P.S: HURRAY for the comeback of the I-6. Good work, Mr. Mike !
Damn I hate all these bullshit tech in cars today!!!!!!!!! How did we drive 20-25 years ago???? well, by actually driving the car, paying attention to what we were doing and taking responsibility of our actions instead of blaming the technology for letting it drive and manage the car for us, give us feedback on traffic around the car and telling us when to have a coffee brake. Can you see how idiotic that would have been 20-25 years ago?!?!?!?!?! We're so doomed, don't be surprised when (not if) Terminator actually happens!!!

Still has a gas cap? I thought cars were going towards capless tanks. My new XC40 has it and others do now too.
No one talking about the fact that Mercedes made an INLINE 6 TURBO
A touch screen is stupid to use when the car is in motion. If you can't use this system then you're silly.
The passenger uses the touchscreen, the driver uses the scroll sensors on the steering wheel.
Thank you TFL, this was an amazing video!!

😂
Lets hope the e class gets the inline 6
So E-torque on a in-line 6.
This is for sure going to be a money pit in a few years.
I hate start-stop technology.
Thanks for the video....
why tho?

GyroPyro12 It can be turned off.
You literally don't feel it at all, literally
why dont they make a limited edition with the old w124 dashboard but updated id love to see something similar
this cls looks agressive and sleek, so much more than the past versions. But how well does it hold up over time?

how do you change tracks without menu hopping ?
The E320 CDI used an in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine up until 2006 . I take it the 1995 s320 was the last time a gas straight 6 was used?
N1ckN1ck100 the Euro spec 217+ S450 W222 uses a straight 6 while the American S450 uses a v6
Nice review :)
Does EQ boost reduce turbo lag or does it completely remove it?
Why are they going hybrid. Just move to straight electric. 2 power plants equals more stuff that can break.
Elite Clinical Research it’s not necessarily two power plants the electricity is just sort of a boost
Thought the 6 gran coupe is dead?
This comment section is full of whiny old people that have a burning hatred for technology.
Good job!
Ahh yes Mercedes guaranteed to set a fault code as soon as you leave the dealers lot smh
Not any of mine have
Not gonna lie... that last gen CLS had me drooling over it... but this... hmm... can't say the same...
Especially the facelift 2015-2018 models with the P2 option. Gorgeous front headlights. The ordinal model had a great shape but those droopy eye front headlights are a drawback. I have a 2015 CLS400 I bought certified earlier this year. I get so many compliments on it.
This is going to be mine as soon as it's released
Completely new powertrain... but you'll have to guess how it sounds.
I hope more automaker's make hybrid sport car/sedans. I love hybrids, they sound cool like sci fiy and fuel savings are amazing.
Why does the engine cover have a Mazda font? Haha.
V8 lovers worry not, a AMG 63 model will come eventually with the new 4.0L twin turbo V8 and potentially up to 600+ hp.
mrvwbug44 nope that’s the AMG GT 4 door
There will not be a V8 AMG version with this generation - the AMG version named CLS53 is a six cylinder too but has comparable performance to a V8
The AMG GT version looks straight up gorgeous .
It's nice looking but it has so much tech that it will be obsolete in 10 years.
lmao what? thats every car now days
Better buy corolla.
Why does Mercedes-Benz keep shirking away from touchscreen technology? It's very practical, and ease of use is high. Can't afford one, buy love the design, mechanical and technology in 'em.
The center screen is touch sensitive.
This is not the kind of CLS that I used to like, there's no Mean kinda looks. This one is for my old man.
how can it be disappointing to now have a v8 when you have an inline 6. This dude is out of his mind ^^
Wow great review he nailed it what a review our USA version looks better than Europe with that little amber reflector on the side of the headlamps
Don't like the ugly 'wart/growth' around the rear number plate though ... that is only on the US version. European versions look better at the back because of that. Check it out!
They’ve had the passenger seat control on the driver side for like 20 years now. It’s nothing new

great video mike... its almost like E torque from FCA
The stupidity continues. A coupe is not a 4dr, regardless of what they think it looks like.

Tbh it needs a v8 engine. Other than that amazing car.
That's what the amg is for
It's not fast enough for an i6 turbo. My i4 turbo has the same performance number if not better
Inline 6 😻😻
Sorry guys but the previous generation had a better exterior 🤷🏽♂️
Abriell Acosta big facts
....and the one before the previous had an even better one.
Abriell Acosta yeah I feel you
The switches on the new Mercedes steering wheels remind me of the Chevy bow tie
Actually 20grand in options
This is actually the cle

Good work, Mr. Mike !
I would take the 2019 a7 over the 2019 cls reason: it’s a hatchback and the styling
Learn how to say ‘coupė’. It’s a French word. There is an acute accent. Mercedes use the acute accent. It’s pronounced ‘coo-pay’. So irritating.

Similar face look on A class 2019?! Why 😁🤭
Corgi23 Jumpman the cls came out first
Yes, but wondering why same look?
"The CLS Coop" LUL
Like the new engine tech, not a fan of the tiny side windows or the ugly interior and infotainment.
Wash your hands, dude. Seeing you smudge all those buttons with your greasy hands @06:51 makes me want to vomit
CLS = Cool Like Shit 😁
Dirty Jersey
Hellzzzzzzzz naaaaaaaa
A7 the best
Over engineered piece of junk. You can learn something from Lexus. The W1 40 was the last Mercedes I bought and I absolutely loved it.
mercedes is far better than lexus
The back is awful
CL -SHIT! Mercedes, this is a fuckin Shame!
CLS = Cool like Shit 😁
Haha looks like a audi
No other way around, cars imitate this style, 1st to do it, not audi
it's so ugly.
