Foldable canoes could open up options for hiking or bug-out routs where you'd have to traverse water. Carrying it ergonomically for distance would be the main challenge.
@@TacticalRifleman Caching one is an option if it fits the budget and a container. In your 5gal bucket food saving video Donnie(Donny?) alluded to a 55 gallon drum cache, so that may be a consideration. Could also be carried in a 'pack board' fashion. 28lbs, so a light ruck carried in front for counterbalance may work.
Never seen a Foldup Kayak before Karl... but the first time i was in Kayak, was when we came across this at Wentworth Point, Australia. Where we saw the SS Ayrfield. just laying there stuck in the Mangroves.
I've had this kayak about 3 yrs and love it.. 72 yo single female... love I can carry it anywhere, I find the seat very comfy and find it easier to fold together if I let it sit in the sun about 10 minutes prior... lastly, the warranty and return policy on this kayak is amazing.. 3 yr warranty and can return after 90 days.. hard to beat that.. also made in USA...no refund however for heavily used kayaks which I think is far.... took it into the Okefenokee swamp, (most gators anywhere in the states) and felt perfectly secure... stability is due to 31inch width....not likely to flip
Karl, a Great White shark was recently caught of the beach in Orange Beach, I think you need to do some kayak shark fishing in the Gulf the next time you go to Gulf Shores !
Great honest review. Thanks Karl, I've been trying to figure out how to negotiate a reservoir that is on a line of travel near me in the event that the balloon throws up. This looks a helluva a lot better option than the waterproof bags, poncho and ALICE pack combo, especially in the Winter.
I really like the look of that, would be nice for a knee strap or something to give you more power! I wonder how long the creases hold out before being stressed and cracking. Edit: apparently 1000's of folds. There are so many kayaks like this, they really have come on leaps and bounds since I was looking around 4 years ago. Some don't look as strong.
I've been paddling them, through different model designs, since 2017. I paddled the 2023 model last weekend for the Tavares Kayakathon and it performed very well. The new footrest is solid and allows for footbracing to increase power to your stroke. The lateral latches are now internal to the hull and rounded rivets on the latch retainers now hold the latches in place without the need for cotter pins. The seat design is about the most significant improvement as that has been a weakpoint in design for quite sometime. The new model also comes in the standard 10ft model and now an 8ft model for smaller, lighter-weight paddlers.
My concern is how many times can this be folded before the creases start to split. Definitely a cool kayak, I just want to make sure it will last 10-20 years or longer.
We bought two of these. We put one together at home before we took it out. We watched the videos several times before we tried. It took about a half an hour to put it together. I sat down in it and immediately said there was no damn way. We sent both back. They are crap.
It beats paying $8,000.00 on a folding Klepper Aerius . Since you like Kayaking and also like speacial opps. Did you ever check out COVERT PHANTOM OPPS; Virtual Reality game on the Oculus quest 2? I love it and I think it would be right up your alley . Could you do a review on the game ? I'd like to get your perspective on playing the game.
This came up in the community last year. Securing the latches on one side gives it the shape of a shelter. Due to the lightweight, you would still need to stake/guy it out. I used heavy duty tarp and mosquito netting to throw together an ultralight tent design. I attached it using loops on the netting and hooks adhered inside the kayak. While it can work, you could just as well carry one of the many small backpacker tents on the market.
You may not want to paddle extremely long trips, but I've easily paddled 10 miles. My wife and I have taken multiple overnight camping trips, paddling out to a key or island, within a couple miles, in Shell Key Preserve, FL and Peanut Island off Rivera Beach, FL.
If you’re going on 100 mile trips it’s kind of silly even considering anything in this price range isn’t it? $400? If I were doing 100 mile trips I’d be trying to spend at least 900

It is fairly light. Maybe prepositioned?

These are not the most comfortable but they would serve you well
This looks like a great option for hunters who need a way to cross water to get to their preferred spot.
On my long wishlist is a Mycanoe. Same thing, but a more open top.
Neat design. If you said it’s good it must be.
great video! very good at explaining how to assemble it
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you 😊

Great point!

@@gow_g_rod excellent spot-on user experience there! I would do a video if I was you!
Check out NuCanoe, not foldable but the rear end is squared off for a trolling motor
We have folding kayaks now? I need this
Wow this could be very useful in a flood situation.
Definitely!
In my ex Recon Squad is the Kayak normal. We used it many Times.
Thank u, this is cool.

I'm planning on getting a Tucktec soon. I bet that plastic was stiff in 48 deg weather.
Very
From all f us northerners - it'll make a wicked family crazy carpet for sliding down hill on those snowy, cold days!😎👍👍🙏🙏
That would come in pretty damn handy.
Yellow.
Universal color for chicken according to Jessie James.
That's cool.
Hey thanks for posting kayaker here sure wish you had given price
They're in the 350 range
Great vid!
Hey Karl, are you still using this kayak? How is it holding up if you are?
Not really… i have 9 kayaks but always use my personal favorite. It will go on long trips with me
Where do you put the pin?
There’s a hole for it. Kinda self explanatory when it’s in front of you.
Also, I quit using the pins. It stays perfectly fine with just the latches

Skill issue
@@linuxpirate not really. I have been boating and canoeing for most of my nearly 70 years.
A Wednesday extra?! Sweeeet
187 bridges my county, eq zone, 2 operating nuclear plants, high risk uncivils, a concept i watch devpts & pricing. Thanks.
Was that the 8’ or 10’?
10 ft
What’s wrong with inflatable kayak?
Nothing, but they are not as sturdy as a plastic one
A folding kayak is the cool kind of weird.
Too true
Nice.
Very nice

Can you do a review on a real military kayak? Like the two man Keppler , and a one man .
Maybe a shelter also.

I probably would have left the broken Jeep in the snow and used the kayak for sledding.
Cowabunga.!
Looks fairly lightweight
Yep. Im not big on the foot pedals, but the seat is okay.
25lbs
Nice, but needs cup holders… 😊
Yes, you are right... Hot blonde cup holders.
Lol not doing a 100 mile camping trip in that.

Hey hey gulf shores Alabama noice!
This this is only good for a mill pond.
Yeah, it’s ugly….like a Glock 😂
👍
🙂
Lol
7 mins to assemble vs a solid one... 🤔👎🏻
Depending on how far you have to walk you could save that 7 minutes lugging around a solid boat.
🙂
