The ideas he has discussed have existed for millennia for ex self as a flow of feelings, perceptions, memory etc are essence of Buddhism(this notion itself comes from theory of pratityasamutpad or dependent origination) which logically leads to ksanikvad or theory of momentariness of existence and Hume's empiricism (though Hume rejects soul as he considers it to be same as ego while Buddhism rejects ego but accepts this flow itself as soul). Dissolving notion of self is ultimate of yoga called samadhi. His brilliance lies in first the depth of knowledge and then ability to take two disparate ideas and bind them together in a common thought which precisely what great thinkers often do. Thus, I agree it is unique, interesting and thought provoking.

The reason I believe in God because it make sense of this life. It give answer to very basic questions of our existence which every rational and logical person must ask.
      • Where was we before we were born and where do we will go after we die. Where are our great grandfather. It’s like we suddenly wake up on a train and we don’t know where Is this train coming form and where is this train going . I think it is only logical to ask this question .
      • Whats the point of working so hard and gather materialist things when everything is going to end and non of the fame, honor and wealth is going to be with us in the Grave.
      • What is the purpose of life , with what purpose we came here. Is there something greater in the life instead of following our wimps and desires. Or is it just a Game .
      • Why some people are given more benefits and ease than other . for example a homeless and a banker, a child born in America and a child born in Gaza , a person gifted with by birth Smartness and intelligence and a person who is given by birth life time disability.
      • Are the two category of people will end up in the same place after they die.
      • a man who spent his life doing good deeds, giving charity, taking care of his parents, working for his whole life to provide for his wife and children is equal to a Rapist, a murder, a Serial Killer etc. Because both of them will end up in the same place after death.
      • Atheism Suggest that one should follow his/her heart. But what if the heart is Corrupt and what if it is the heart of “Adobe Hitler” who burnt alive 2 million Jews. So where is the guidance. So where is the Accountability of ones action.
I think it is only logical to ask this question instead of distracting ourselves with persecute of temporary happiness which never last long enough.

All the signs and sciences in this life and world seem to suggest something else.
      Challenge
Can you Name a single creature that can:
That can stand upright in honorable way like mankind.
Or who have hands, through which who can use tools the way humans do , who use hands for eating and can pickup thing like us. Even apes use their hands for walking which are more like feet than hands.
Or that have tough like humans that have innumerable sounds and can speak thousands of languages .
Or who have intellect and intelligence like humans.
Or who is not naked and wear honorable cloths and cover their private parts.
Or have who have complex emotions and complex life like us.
I think it is stupid to say that we have no meaning. This life is not a Game and we will be answerable for Our actions
Allah Almighty said in the Quran: "we will show them our signs in the horizons and within their own self until it become clear to them that it is the truth". every single part of our body has a function and a purpose. how can it be that our whole body don't have any ultimate purpose and meanings .
It does not require proof to believe in something to be true. for believing in something in some thing it only requires enough rational and logical evidence or reason. for example why do you believe that your mother is your actual biological mother. you never did DNA test. we have rational reasons to believe that she is like we have family testimony. Why do you believe that Indonesia exist when you have never been there , you might say that I have seen its pictures but again this is evidence or testimony not prove. Why do you believe history is true . I could be imaginary tails of ancients . Because we have people testimony and enough evidence to believe so.
So why is it important to believe in God. consider a boy whose father was a soldier and had saved a lot of wealth for his son but when the boy was born he was told that his father had died on the battle field. The boy using his father wealth becomes a successful person. now he is told that his father is still alive and is in enemy territory.
what do you think this boy will do if he is a human he will spent all his wealth and do all in his power to find his father.
so when a person is told that there is a God and Who gave you everything your parents , your wealth ,your health ,your children , your wife etc . it is obligatory on him to do at least the amount of effort that this boy will do , and otherwise no one is more guilty than him.
I believe It is not possible for a person who is sincerely looking for purpose of his or her life and if he sincerely ask for guidance that he don’t get guidance.
I suggest you please do research and look into Islam , read Quran and read about life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Please listen this . It is the recitation and translation of a chapter of Quran.

I've had so many experiences in my life that distinctly pointed to the idea of identity being a boot up process of consciousness. When i was younger i experienced fainting at the exact moment i was waking up and i believe that it allowed some functions to overlap as i regained cognition. During this experience i could perceive my memories being "re-loaded" into almost infinite pathways that led to personal belief structures. Fight or flight sequences seem to be fairly dominant in terms of defining my personal limitations and some of that made me incredibly uncomfortable.
It all happened so fast that it's hard to properly describe but i'll never forget feeling like i was a separate entity from the person i call "self"

I'm unhappy with the universe I find myself in too. I mean, FFS!!! The universe takes 13.7 billion years of organising and cooking particles formed at the beginning of time to get to the point that I can exist and in that existence I not only find out that I have missed a bunch of time, but I find out that I am going to miss the rest. But then missing the rest is probably a good idea as it is going to take trillions of years for the whole universe to disperse, cool and break down to nothing to the point where there is no tangible matter or energy and then...... Meanwhile, for this briefest blip I find myself part of a species that goes at the speed of its lowest, majority denominator and most of my existence is spent maintaining my biological vessel purely because it requires a continuous source of electrons that have to be harvested from other biological entities that are doing the same, ultimately using the Sun as the source of energy. It's laborious, tedious and completely pointless. Oh, and it took me 50 years to truly understand all of this and I am probably at least two thirds of the way through my existence and definitely passed the bit where I have the capacity to make the most of it. I'm unhappy with the universe I find myself in!

Great video ya'll! Appreciate the share. I personally believe there is a spirit to the machine body we drive and I believe it continues forward, more than a construct having worth reflecting the source code. That nothing is special itself is easy to say, but I believe rather that everything is special. Maybe the human story generates its own worth, and if that is the case I'm gonna generate as much worth as I possibly can for my family, friends and I. Regardless, I work forward with the chosen understanding that each moment matters as much as we make it matter. I am happy with my daily actions under this paradigm. On that note, joined you on the exercise. 3 miles and 100 rep cycles a day is what I'ma condition myself to. Keep up the good work.

I tend to agree with Bach, however I have had experiences of interacting or receiving actions of atemporal entities (spirits) and I think he's missing that perspective, that maybe the individual is more real than the simulation. (To use his language). Whether you want to call God the AI or whatever floats your boat, we both agree that this reality is not supreme. And I think thinking about the "supernatural" as people who interact with us that aren't bound by linear time puts them in a more understandable setting.

It presupposes that everyone has the same desires & preferences - which can fail spectacularly & cause unnecessary suffering. Still, I can appreciate the elegance, and prevalence across cultures.
OTOH, the Ten Commandments are kind of garbage as a moral foundation. 3 are obvious (don't murder, steal/kidnap, tell lies in court); 3 are mostly God being narcissistic (monotheism, idolatry, name in vain); and 5 probably good-ish life advice most of the time (coveting others' possessions, adultery (but only involving married women...), sabbath, lying in general, respecting your parents).

The adaptive value is the search for the ultimate cause or for us the deepest level of causation results in ultimate or deepest power, which results in ultimate survivability for intelligent animals. However, it's also a fact that most humans need to be well-adjusted enough to not worry about progress. Invention and innovation only come from a few by design. The rest of the human organism has to focus all of its work on food and child-rearing, etc. Philosophy and science are only done by the few for the many. That's how humanity has evolved to function as a whole. Intellectually, oligarchy is simply the fact of life. Politically, there are more efficient systems.

The three "laws" are fiction, introduced by Asimov himself as a plot device. Lots of his stories are mostly about how they fail and conflict.
Anyway, a hypothetical AI following them would not end in a catch 22. "Not injuring humans" is the first priority, and always wins against all other goals. Caring about "the planet" or curing it of "cancer" (whatever you mean by those terms) is of no concern in its ethical system.

But this feedback dataprocessing will never amount to this unexplainable sense of being here that we experience, all of it would be done without. Unfortunately im affraid that this unexplainable conscious awareness may be able one day to enter AI.
