I loved the segment with the baker. It was really interesting and informative.
We're thrilled you enjoyed it. The bread tasted every bit as good as it looked!
Makes me wish I could be there to taste the bread
I could listen for hours to these passionate and top-skilled artisans. l wish I could smell and taste the bread with a piece of cheese and a glass of wine! Probably no need for marmelade on the nut-apricot bread in the morning. Vive la France, vive la différence!
We're thrilled that we aroused your senses! Thank you for following our journey.
It’s so uplifting to see the beautiful wallpaper go up to create such a stunning space within this room, with a reflection of Purnon’s interior history! The artisan’s work in preserving the facade is incredible, as is the artistry and passion of the baker!
Thank you - we're thrilled that you enjoyed the video!
I am really enjoying the content. It’s different from the other chateau channels. There’s a historical element, i.e., the wall papers, the restoration of the facade, conversations with the artisans / architect, etc. The scope of work is immense, then and now.
We're thrilled you're enjoying our journey. We are trying to convey the skill and expertise of the diverse range of artisans required to conduct an authentic restoration that honours the beauty and splendour of this special place. Thanks for your message!
What an incredible feeling it must have been to bring home to the Chateau the original design of wallpaper. So stunning. I could so the pure joy on your face as you were sharing your story ❤ I was getting choked up watching you. AND To see the bread oven being used again must have been so satisfying! My mouth was watering over here lol 😂
We're thrilled you enjoyed the video. The team at Farrow & Ball has created something wonderful with the motifs uncovered at Chateau de Purnon. Thank you for your message.
The attention to detail, sight, smell, touch, etc is what takes this reawakening to the artisan level, not just workmanship. What a delight to watch the unfolding of the “present” in touch with its history and tumultuous past. To me it touches the soul. Thank you ☺️ Merci
Thank you - a beautiful message that captures the spirit of our restoration.
There's something about the way the local baker explained how it's best to break the bread (18:23) that is so delightfully palatable. I know this is a very random thought. I love the French language and am so desperate to le savoir couramment. But it's an every day commitment. As is restoring this chateau. Was not expecting such an extensive and insightful lesson on classic French breadmaking. I do plan on being a vanteur about this new knowledge to friends and family. And so happy for the wallpaper line. So well deserved. I'm not sure if they'll be able to be shipped to California, where I live. But I can't wait to see the (first) five chosen for sale.
Thank you for your message and for following our journey so closely. Farrow & Ball will definitely be able to supply the Purnon Papers to California when they are available from late June. We're thrilled that our adventure is enabling you to indulge your love of French culture and language. Enjoy!
Merci, simplement merci pour tout ce que vous faites. You inspire a lot or people with your energy, your dedication to this Castel renovation.
Thank you for your message!
The wall paper you have chosen looks absolutely fabulous, and beautifully hung too. It's always great to see artisans who are passionate about their work, the restorer and the baker, so heart warming to see such ancient skills so highly regarded today, and still evolving. Thank you.
Thank you for your message. The team at Farrow & Ball has created something very special with the motifs uncovered at the chateau. We're thrilled that you enjoyed the video.
I am so happy to see this update on the “Papers” the Coat of Arms and the oven! I could smell it baking…. What an interesting idea about not kneading to dough to reduce gluten. Thank you for all this. I’m once again speechless. And that’s not common for me!❤️❤️
Thank you for your wonderful message. We're thrilled you enjoyed the video.
Bread is love. Bread is coming together. Bread is sharing. Bread is pleasure. Hihihi bread is everything. 🍺🥖😋 Gorgeous wallpapers ❣
It was wonderful to listen to Benoit explaining his bread making philosophy. It is no wonder that it has struck a chord with people who care about what they eat and how it is crafted. Thank you for your message... and yes, the Farrow & Ball team has created something special with the motifs uncovered at the chateau.
Flick and Tim, in every single video you create you first celebrate the people and artisans around you and let their talents and skill tell Purnon's story. Thank you. This video was especially dear. I am in awe of their skills and wisdom and how the past continues to teach all of us. What a week it's been at Purnon!!!
Thank you for your wonderful message. We are in awe of the skills and talents of the artisans who are helping us to save Chateau de Purnon. Our hearts soar when we see the global audience sharing in our adventure.
You can hear the passion of the bread baker when he describes the science behind his recipes. He is such an interesting person. Really enjoyed that. The wallpaper is so beautiful.
Benoit gave the most wonderful description of his bread making philosophy. We're thrilled you enjoyed it and the elegant Farrow & Ball wall paper. Thank you for your message.
Chill bumps every week now with the marvelous restorations being done. I am so very grateful the fine old lady is getting the quality makeover she deserves.
Thank you! We're thrilled that you're following each step of our remarkable journey!
All the craftsmen you have seem to be perfectionists in what they do, it must be a real pleasure to work with them. Keep up the wonderful work. Hopefully one day I can actually see all the hard work. Greetings from Florida, Harold.
Thank you Harold. We appreciate you acknowledging the incredible skills and care of the people who are helping us reawaken this special place.
Oh, most excellent for the chateau 's precious wallpapers to reawaken as the Purnon Papers!
Thank you for your message!
Lovely to follow how the restoration commences. Now you even have your own chateau bread!
Thanks for your message... it somehow tastes even better when it come from your own bread oven!
One of yr best videos. Very informative and uplifting from the wallpapers to the restoration of the coat of arms to the bread oven. Outstanding!
Thank you - we're thrilled you enjoyed it!
What a wonderful baker. So passionate and skilled! Respect!
Benoit is amazing. It is wonderful to listen to him explaining his philosophy. Thanks for your message!
That wallpaper is so beautiful!
We agree! The team at Farrow & Ball has created something special.
As a sourdough home baker and afficionado, I loved hearing from and watching the baker as he used the amazing bread oven!
We're thrilled you enjoyed the video - thank you for your message!
This is so inspiring. What a wonderful initiative and how wonderful it is that Pernon's papers are being reawakened. We have a interior decor project coming up so we will explore the range with F&B as soon as it's launched. Very best wishes we hope it's an enormous success. M&R
Thanks for your message guys! The full 'Purnon Papers" range will be available for purchase at the end of June. We know that you'll find something you love for your project. The team at Farrow & Ball has created something special with the motifs uncovered at the chateau.
I could listen to (well read subtitles) what the baker has to say about bread and his findings. Very interesting. Beautiful wallpaper.
Isn't he just fabulous?! The bread tastes every bit as good as it looks! Thanks for your message.
Oh my that bread baker needs his own channel, I want to bake bread along with him! Lovely wallpapers as well xx
Isn't he wonderful?! Thanks for your message.
From the wallpaper to the coat of arms restoration to the bread, it was a delicious episode. Congrats !
Thank you for your message! We're thrilled you enjoyed it.

I, as always, enjoyed watching the skills of everyone (including yourselves) who work on Purnon.
The wallpaper up on the wall is just so exciting.
We're thrilled you enjoyed our video. The team from Farrow & Ball has created something wonderful with the motifs uncovered at the chateau.
The wallpaper looks beautiful, and the baker wow his bread looks amazing, made with the best ingredients not like the crap most supermarkets sell, especially here in the UK, love watching your journey bringing your beautiful chateau back to life, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
Thank you Julie. We're thrilled you're enjoying our journey.
The wallpaper is absolutely stunning!!! Great job!! Love it. Just love what the guys are doing on the outside the chateau!! Just making the chateau look amazing outside and inside!! Great job to you all!! Lots of love from Tennessee USA!!

Fabulous restoration and very noice bread
Thank you! It tastes every bit as delicious as it looks!
Purnon is so lucky to have you !!
Thank you! But credit must go to our incredible artisans without whom it would not be possible to save Chateau de Purnon.
The bread section is a revelation. I’ve made a bread called MMe Doz’s bread that had a similar 3 day process, and even in my gas oven it was the best of many breads I ever made. But this looks like an even better technique. I sure wish I could taste some!❤
Thanks for your message. Your bread sounds delicious! We're thrilled you're following our journey!
The wallpaper is so beautiful! Oh my gosh that bread ! I’m sure it was so delicious.
Thank you! The team from Farrow & Ball has done a superb job creating these designs from the motifs uncovered at the chateau. And yes, the bread tastes very bit as good as it looks!
Thank you for sharing.
Our pleasure! We're thrilled you enjoyed it.
Wasn't sure about the paper until you put it up. It's nice up
Thank you - the team at Farrow & Ball has created something wonderful with this paper uncovered in a small room on the first floor of the Chateau.
An oven able to feed an army..!
Bakers friend is a GOOD OVEN..!
Seems you got the real item there !
Carry on
Thank you for your message - fabulous baker, magnificent bread oven!
So many wonderful things are happening. That bread looked amazing and I bet it was delicious 😋
Thank for your message! Yes, we can really feel the progress. The bread was every bit as delicious as it looked!
You all could have vegetable/fruit gardens on your property and make a traditional farmers market. You could then sell the vegetables and fruit along with cheeses and homemade jams and have this baker sell bread to eat with them. The breads, jams, and cheese could be the star of the market. Maybe have a local winemaker sell a collection of his wines to go with the bread, cheeses, and jams. The French do love their wine and cheeses. Also, after the work is completed, you could then have fund raisers to help pay the cost of upkeep on the estate by giving tours of the house and grounds where people can admire the estate, kind of like how King Charles III does with his home Highgrove. It's just a thought because I know how expensive these estates are to run on a daily basis. The upkeep on estates such as these can be very expensive, and anything that could potentially be something that could be an income for the estate is always a plus. When renovating very old homes and buildings, especially renovating them historically accurately as you all are, it will take a lot of time and money. You and all of the masters of their craft are doing a wonderful job, and I, along with the rest of your RUclips family cannot wait to see the final result. Thank you for the videos to let everyone see the process. It is a guilty pleasure of mine to sit and watch the "reawakening" of such a beautiful lady.
well "the french" doesn't resumate themselves as wine and cheeses, would be basic, breads, meats, oils, old vegetables, ancien tehcnics of cooking, pastries, saussages, etc.. every form of art ;)
Lovely wallpaper, I can see why you were so excited!
Thank you for your message. We are thrilled with what the team at Farrow & Ball have created with these motifs uncovered at Chateau de Purnon.
The wallpaper is simply stunning!
Thank you! The team at Farrow & Ball has created something exceptional with the motifs uncovered at the chateau.
Bonjour Felicity, the wallpaper is just beautiful, another step closer to the finish for the bathroom. I loved watching you and Benoit at the bread oven I can only imagine the smell and the taste of the bread. Sebastien's work is truly an art, we can see the love and care he is putting into it. Chateau de Purnon will be so beautifully amazing and a sight to behold when she awakens. Love from N.Y.
Thank you for your wonderful message! We appreciate you acknowledging the amazing skills and expertise of the people who are working with us - saving Chateau de Purnon would be impossible without them!
Looking good, that cout of arms is truely a beautiful work of art
Thank you! It's wonderful to admire the coats of arms so closely. Obviously they were crafted to be viewed from some distance away.
The wallpaper is beautiful! 😃❤ You did a wonderful job installing it. All the hard progress is starting to take shape and its absolutely wonderful! Wish I could sample that bread. I bet it is delicious!
It tastes every bit as good as it looks! And the wall papers are fabulous. The team from Farrow & Ball has created something special with the motifs uncovered at the Chateau. Thank you for your message!
Your work is amazing, love your videos.
We're thrilled you enjoyed it. Thank you for your message.
The yellow wallpaper is stunning; I'm surprised that you didn't choose to reinstate it. Hopefully, for another room...
The wall paper is beautiful so stunning ❤
Thank you! The team at Farrow & Ball has created something special with the motifs uncovered at the chateau.
Wow....adding color to those walls made the room come to life!! Reawakening indeed! The passion and dedication of the artisans who work on the Chateau is incredible!
Thank you for your message. We appreciate your acknowledgement of the skill and passion of our amazing artisans. Without them, saving Chateau de Purnon would be impossible.
Love the segment on the beer bread that is easier to digest. Wish we could taste it!
Benoit conveyed the most wonderful passion for his bread making. Thank you for your message!
So interesting how the pattern of that wallpaper changes the closer you get to it. From a distance it looks like circles with a star, and up close it just looks like the "stars" (or whatever you'd call that!). It's really beautiful there where you've placed it. I love the passion of that Boulangère, he's why food is so great in France. Beautiful stone work, always so fascinating!
Thank you for your message. We're thrilled you loved every segment of our video. The Farrow & Ball has created something very special with this motif uncovered at the Chateau. It was quite inspiring to hear Benoit describing his bread making philosophy. We're thrilled you're following our journey.
loved seeing all the party pics on insta and hope you can share more on the vlog soon - the party looked elegant and fun and the decor was amazing - LOVE the wallpapers - conrats!!
Thank you for your message! We're thrilled that you saw the launch images on Instagram. It was very emotional for us to see how the team from Farrow & Ball has brought the motifs uncovered at the chateau back to life.
Stunning. What exceptional craftsmanship and attention to every detail.
Thank you for your message and for following our journey!
The new wallpaper is perfection in the bathroom! As more sheets were applied I loved it more and more. Perfect size of pattern and the color is just right in the space. So, so pretty and yet not overly feminine. If I were young I would love to try to tackle the repair work on the coat of arms. :-) If I could live life over again I would have liked to have been a conservator of historic furnishings and textiles as I love that kind of slow, detailed work. I also love baking bread, so found what the baker shared to be very interesting! Thank you for another fantastic visit to Purnon.
We're thrilled you enjoyed the video. The team from Farrow & Ball has created something very special with the motifs uncovered at the chateau. Thank you for your message!
Thanks for sharing the wallpaper. Beautiful-
Thanks for your message. The Farrow & Ball team has created something exceptional with the motifs uncovered at the chateau.
The coat of arms is certainly a magnificent piece of work. Well pieces really. Maybe a huge picture of it finished, framed can be displayed to show the beauty of it up close to all. It is so high up, it can't be appreciated as much. Just a thought. Best wishes.
Wonderful suggestion. Thank you fro your message. We're thrilled you're following our journey.
beautiful. i am lost for words. your paper is stunning.
We're thrilled you enjoyed it. The team at Farrow & Ball has created something wonderful with the motifs uncovered at the chateau!
The wallpaper is beautiful. It reminds me of when my husband and I restored/renovated our 1880's farmhouse. It's wonderful that all of these old, abandoned chateaus are being restored and brought back to life.🥰🥰
Thank you for your message. We're thrilled that you are deriving such enjoyment from our adventure!
Unintentionally I put my sourdough bread in the oven and sat down to watch this episode. How funny! I could smell bread cooking in my house while he is describing the smell of his bread. I am sure his smelt better with the mix of the fire combined with so many different varieties of bread cooking.
Wonderful! Bon appetit! Thanks for your message!
So inspirational Flick and Tim you are truly the right people for this chateau, it’s like the chateau just sat and waited for you both. Beautiful wallpaper did they have different wall paper in each room and do you know why? Your stone masons are incredible how they work out how to repair the coat of arms.
Thanks for your message. The team from Farrow & Ball has created something exceptional with the motifs uncovered at the Chateau. Yes, almost every room had a different pattern. Using different designs enabled them to express their taste and wealth. We're thrilled you're following our journey!
Thank you. I loved it
We're thrilled you enjoyed it!
Drop dead gorgeous. ❤
Thank you! The Farrow & Ball team has created something special with the motifs uncovered at the chateau.
Wow, the wallpapers are exceptional and I really could almost smell the bread baking in the oven. So cute to see Trufe watching! Thanks for posting this!
Thrilled you enjoyed it! Thanks for following our adventure.
Such meticulous work. Amazing. 🙏🏻
We're thrilled you enjoyed it!
Amazing
Thank you for following our adventure!
Great episode!
Thanks
We're thrilled you enjoyed it!
It's amazing to me that the place wasn't wrecked from WWII.
Congratulations on this beautiful restoration and thanks for making it possible for folks to watch your progress.
Thankfully, there was very little fighting here during the Second World War (unlike in Normandy or in northern and eastern France). While the Germans did briefly occupy the Chateau in June and July 1940, the fighting had basically finished for that phase of the war and it appears that little damage occurred. Thanks for your message.
Loved the wallpaper 🙏🏻🥰
Thank you! We are thrilled with what the team from Farrow & Ball has done with the motifs uncovered at Chateau de Purnon.
All of your content in this video is so interesting!!! The fastest 22 minutes I've spent in a long time and time well spent!
Wonderful. We're thrilled you enjoyed it!
Lovely
Thank you!
Loved the master class in bread making, makes so much sense.. just wonderful when craftsmen understand their medium so well they can expand on what they've been taught and make it better. I would love to know more does Benoit (is that the bakers name) have anything online showing what he does (apart from here 😏)?
The wallpaper as well, wow, so gorgeous.. how brilliant to have come up with a whole range in collaboration with F&B.
Everything just fascinating ❤
Thanks for your message. Yes, Benoit is the baker but we're not aware of any other online work that you can view of his. Along with his wonderful wife, he owns the Maison Martin Boulangerie in our local town of Mirebeau. We're thrilled you love the wallpapers. The team at Farrow & Ball has created something exceptional from the motifs uncovered at the chateau. Thank you for following our journey.
thanks
Our pleasure - we're thrilled you enjoyed the video!
What fantastic content and artisans!! Just wish I could taste that bread! The ancient grains are so worth trying. Maybe he could make bread at the chateau and sell it in partnership with you.
We're thrilled that you enjoyed the video. We do sell Benoit's bread, baked in our bread oven over the weekend of the European Heritage Days each September when the chateau is open to the public.
Beautiful vlog, thank you, it's very inspiring. Look forward to seeing the wall papers in connection with Farrow and ball and i bet the dmell texture snd taste of the bread was amazing. Glad to see the bread oven being used. Did you cook snuthing rlse in the oven aftet the baker wss finished. It would have done an amazing slow roast. Have a great week.
Thank you for your message. The Farrow & Ball team has done an amazing job of bringing life back to the motifs uncovered at the chateau. We often did pizzas in our oven but we had such a supply of delicious bread from Benoit that we didn't this time! A roast is a great idea.
There seems a fair bit of frost on the ground-I thought it was nearly summer there? So interesting (yet to finish watching). Central Victoria Australia 🇦🇺
If you're referring to the opening drone sequence, this footage accompanies each of our videos in recent months and was shot at the start of the year. each of the three segments featured in the video was filmed last week. There is no frost at the moment, as we are now well into spring. Thanks for following our journey.
Love the Pink one, it would be amazing in a bedroom.
Yes, we love that paper also. We can't wait to share the room where we will be hanging it. The Farrow & Ball team took this elegant motif from a privacy screen discovered hidden in one of our outbuildings.
I LOVE how you really include and learn from your local community. Was this a test for the bread oven or will he be regularity using Purnon oven? The Purnon Loaves! The paper is stunnnnnnning! Will you be having them available internationally? So excited to see your other designs as well. Love and blessings from 🇨🇦 to you 🇦🇺 🇫🇷
Thank you for your message. We learn so much from the incredible team of skilled artisans working with us to bring Chateau de Purnon back to life. We use the oven from time to time (pizza nights etc) but it was wonderful to have a local baker sharing his bread making philosophy with us and we wanted others to hear from him also. Yes, the incredible Farrow & Ball wall papers will be available globally later in June. The range is called the Purnon Papers and each one is based on a motif uncovered at Chateau de Purnon.
I cant wait to see all the Purnon Papers. I have two bathrooms to update soon!!!
Available later in June... enjoy!
It's so educational to watch the restoration. It was very surprising to see how the mason used adhesive to reattach the broken stone. It was also very surprising that he used dots of adhesive and a pressureless clamp to hold it in place. Most glues I've ever used seem to advise using a continuous layer of adhesive, sometimes on both surfaces, to drive out the air and to clamp with pressure. The idea being that atmospheric pressure (approx. 14lbs per sq. inch) actually acts like a clamp applying a lot of force on the mend. Does he then have to add grout or mortar to the exposed edges of the seam? Not that I have or ever got close to an escutcheon needing repair..
Big surprise about pigeons actually clawing the stone. I always thought the droppings were the big problem with them. .The exposed stone looks so much better than mesh over the whole carved assemblage in the pediment. Pigeons don't seem to be vary prevalent in even the biggest city around here. Maybe they're all being killed off?
Such simply patterned and beautiful wallpapers.
Thank you for your message. We're thrilled that you're following our journey.
Me gustó mucho el vídeo, sobre todo cuando están horneando el pan, lástima que el vídeo no está traducido al español. Ojalá pueda ver totalmente restaurada el área o sala de panadería. Desde Caracas, Venezuela, les envío saludos.
What is nice about the Baker, is he is creating a bread that was reminiscent of the times.
His bread making philosophy and passion really came across in his presentation. We were thrilled to be able to share it with our RUclips community. Thank you for your message!
❤❤💪💪
Eng: coat of arms.
Fren: écu ~armoiries ~blason.
Its a blason for me with the family armoiries and their ancestral écu 😅
💙
J'adore vous suivre, dommage qu'il n'y a plus le sous titrage en français sur les vidéos
That opening shot of the chateau in the sunrise was surreal!! The land looks like a beautiful painting and makes the west coast of Canada, where I live on Vancouver Island look so ugly, dark and bland!!
Thank you for your message. The natural setting of Chateau de Purnon is stunning in each season. We feel very lucky to live here.
Please return English closed captions. I appreciate the English captions over the spoken French, but would also like it accompanied with the English. That way we can catch/write down the wallpaper companies, etc. Can't catch them when spoken. Thank you!
Farrow and Ball. Purnon Collection.
All beautiful but why wasn’t the drywall taped , filled and primed before the wallpaper?
Thank you for your message. Perhaps watch the earlier videos. The wallpaper is not being hung on a dry wall. It is being hung on a 'toile de jute'... an 18th century hessian backing (burlap) that has a void behind it.
Thank you for your reply! ❤️ I just started watching from the start! Love your content!!
I’m cheering and applauding - In under 4 minutes!
Felicity I’m so excited for your you and Tim and your whole team. The idea that F&B are not only producing paper for the Château but for us too! So much fun!
Thank you! We're thrilled with what the team at Farrow & Ball has created with the motifs uncovered at the chateau.
Wonderful work as usual, it’s always a pleasure to take a look at the progress you’re making in this restoration !
I was simply wondering what you wanted to do with the blue bedroom (in the South-East wing I believe) where are hung the original 18th century wall papers. Do you intend to let it « dans son jus » as french people say, restore it but preserving it or keep it preciously somewhere else, while new copy of it would be hung ? (I guess this question concerns also the bedroom in the rez-de-chaussée (you call it this way, don’t you ?) that celebrates the agreement with the United Kingdom I believe)
Thank you for your message. This was Auguste's room (the eldest son of the Marquis Achard de la Haye). The Reveillon workshop wall paper in the room will be preserved. We have every panel and it is in remarkable condition. The wood panelling will be painted, modern (and safer!) electrical cabling will be installed and some minor repairs are necessary for the marble fire place and several of the window panes. But the room will retain its current look and feel. We will tread very lightly in its restoration. We will explain the restoration of the other room in the western half of the ground floor shortly. It's a little more complex, but obviously the exquisite wall paper that you refer to will be preserved in that room.
Thank you very much for this answer ! I can’t wait to see how you will transform these remarkable rooms 😊
Question! Do the French not use drywall as a base substrate when remodeling a wall? It looks like they're just pasting wallpaper onto canvas. It gives a whole new def to "paper thin walls" that would never offer true privacy to a private conversation-especially in bathroom! Where some of your most private conversations take place.
Thank you for your question. It may be worth watching several of our other videos where we explain the structure of the chateau. The building's structural walls are made of stone. Rest assured, they are immensely thick and one's private conversations are at no risk of being overheard in the next room?! The wall paper that you can see being hung in this video is being placed on hessian backing. Behind the hessian backing is a void. The void exists to protect the papers from condensation in rooms that were often poorly heated in winter. The rooms are decorated with wooden panels - a common practice in French chateaux and English stately homes. We're unsure why you are under the impression that the walls are 'paper thin'. Thank you following our adventure.
Do the seams of the dry wall show through the wallpaper?
No. There is a backing paper... the hessian backing cloth (burlap) creates a feeling that the paper is floating.
How beautiful, I really love the paper.😊
We're thrilled you enjoyed the video. The team at Farrow & Ball has produced something very elegant with the motifs uncovered at Chateau de Purnon.
I can't explain how I feel, like a sense of relief the place is rescued and to think you have made it possible for the designs to come back to life: such historical importance.
Step by step we feel the splendour and elegance of the Chateau re-emerging. Relief is a wonderful description! Thank you for your message.
Pain de seigle is rye bread.
Thank you!
Is it hard to hang the paper on the hessian because it moves? It looks beautiful.
Thank you for your message. It's a little tricky. The real challenge at Purnon is that, due to the age of the building, nothing is ever perfectly straight!
When the Baker explains the process, the first step (on Monday) is making the POOLISH which is a starter in English.
A Poolish (in English) is a type of bread starter. The original French word ‘pouliche’ comes from the word ‘poolish’ which meant ‘Polish’ and is thought to be a French bread-making method imported by Austrians. Our understanding is that either spelling can be deployed. But we felt that the video subtitles made it clear that we were using the French word and not an English translation.
You're never going to have a video called "COMMONPLACE occurrence during ROUTINE restoration work at tbe chateau" are you :)
Indeed! It's a special place and we're so proud of the creative talents and skills of the artisans helping us to bring Chateau de Purnon back to life. Thank you for your message!
Wallpaper's beautiful, but I don't understand why the drywall seams weren't finished and the entire area primed first?
Thank you for your message. Perhaps you should view the earlier videos in the sequence. The wall papers are not attached to a dry wall. They are attached to a hessian backing (toile de jute in French) with a void behind it. This protects the paper and manages temperature in the chateau. This is explained in other videos relating to the restoration of this and other rooms in the chateau.
seigle is rye...he is making loaves of rye bread
how will you use all the rooms
Chateau de Purnon is a private home as she was always designed to be. We hope that our restoration will help us and the many people following our adventure from around the world to better understand life in a stately home from the end of the 18th century.
thank you
I would like to know what he is using to glue the piece of stone on the fasade, ofcourse he does not tell it since he would like to work at other châteax
It''s a stonemasons adhesive for tuffeau stone.
I miss France.
It's a wonderful country with a rich history and a complex culture. We have been warmly welcomed and we love our life here!
