I feel like legendaries without an amazing ability or signature move are being left behind by legendaries with these things. Dialga and Palkia are the pokemon gods of time and space, so honestly, I say screw balance, lets go for insanity. Lets give spacial rend the ability to bypass protect and hit users switching out, and give Roar of Time the ability to hit consecutive turns in a row, like a future sight that also deals damage the turn its used. Shadow force can become base 150 power, and Giratina can get multiscale. Power creep isn't going away, so we might as well make the gods of pokemon completely busted.
I think part of sucker punch not being as common is a combined result of Calyrex Shadow Rider being banned and Yveltal not existing this generation. Yveltal might as well have sucker punch be its secondary signature move. For those who might not be familiar with Ubers, Yveltal was basically one of the only things keeping Shadow Rider from shredding through the entire metagame in Gen 8, alongside Marshadow and other priority users. Combined with the fact that it got Draining Kiss, and the existence of tera, Shadow Rider (who should've been banned from Ubers last gen anyway) becomes even more absurd, with its greatest counters not present.
yveltal was not only an incredible caly-s check, it also kept ndm from wreaking havoc. like freezai said, one of the big reasons ndm is so fearless this gen is that yveltal isn't around to keep the peace. once caly-s got released in gen 8, yveltal was at close to 100% usage on teams due to its ability to keep caly-s and ndm from getting out of control. there are also almost no sucker punch users sturdy enough to contend with ubers top threats. you have your frail sucker punch users like chien-pao and darkrai, but they really can't do anything else besides sucker punch twice (with sash) and then get blanked anyway because of tera. or, you have kingambit who can actually contend with the power level, but it has fewer entry points and is much less able to freely express its power because it's a guaranteed 2HKO by any unboosted neutral hit from a premier offensive threat. there are almost no dark types able to contend with ubers power level this gen, so sucker punch takes a back seat. there are also very few ghost types able to break into ubers unlike some other generations, so dark type coverage is much less useful. gambit functions as a meaningful barrier to caly-i and a vague response to ndm, as well as a very decent response to tera fairies and arceus fairy, but it's a very easily exhaustible resource. so you're going to get very few sucker punches/iron heads out of it. most players would rather forego the iron head/sucker punch viability of gambit and take much bulkier/more powerful threats against these pokemon. like, ndm and zacian-c beat caly-i, so why not just use your ndm/zacian-c? tera fairies and arceus fairy all can be answered with threats like zacian-c, ndm, ho-oh, and eternatus (depends on set and which pokemon tera'd). or, you can break through a lot of these situations with the pure power of koraidon and miraidon as well, depending on team core. also I really need to say, the level of miraidon's power in ubers is crazy. arceus-ground, gliscor, lando-t, ting-lu, and clodsire would all drop by at least one tier of viability if it wasn't for miraidon. these pokemon do in fact all have more roles and functions than just being a miraidon check, but the main reason most of them have a proper entry point at all is being able to blank an electro drift and then live at least 1 draco meteor. otherwise, the sheer power of pokemon like e-killer arceus or caly-i switching into them is very much not worth the risk. koraidon can at least be mitigated with checks like zacian or ndm, which are already top threats in their own right, but miraidon necessitates bringing specific pokemon that can take advantage of their immunity to either revenge kill, set up hazards, or threaten it out.
@@ihavethebrainofarat2309 if the legendaries this gen weren't so strong, ndm might have been put up for suspect test with the extent to which it's usually best answered with another ndm lmao

Ever since Gen 8, defensive Ho-oh has been one of my favorite Pokemon to use of all time. Single-handedly one of my reasons to play in Ubers metagames - in a meta full of absurdly high power levels, Ho-oh has long since been a generally good defensive answer in some of the worst cases, such as Zacian-Crowned (even in Gen 8, when he was legal) and Koraidon's reign over the tier. Sacred Fire burns, pivoting, Defog... Ho-oh can do all of it. It's such a nice amount of versatility to have, and Regenerator was the perfect buff to give it before Heavy-Duty Boots. Now a Ho-oh with Timbs is more bulky than Lugia could ever hope to be (sorry, old friend...) Ho-oh may not be the *star* of many teams, but it's peak consistency and I appreciate all its hard work. It's like the Lando or Great Tusk of Ubers - a defensive backbone that helps anchor your powerful threats. EDIT: Ho-oh lost Defog and Roost oh dear... at least Recover still exists. Ho-oh also has a lot of niche tech options so I'm sure that 4th move slot will act like a toolbox of sorts for Gen 9 Ubers players. Will-o-Wisp is useful for more consistent burns too. Miraidon definitely proves to be an issue, but Tera-Ground is one of several potential options to answer it, as well as other defensive staples.
Although not banned, the raidons are the most impactful new pokemon we've gotten to ubers since gen 8 calyrex shadow who made almost everyone use yveltal to counter him.
This is an excellent video. I love hearing about Legendaries being good, it really adds that gravitas of _legends_ that makes you feel the power of the titans you're using
Terapagos - have baby form and its own base stats despite not usable in battle Koraidon/Miraidon - in-game data have ride form to be usable in battle, but not able to be use in normal gameplay
For the reason why the baby form of Terapagos exists its likely either because the story of the DLC changed and initially you were supposed to evolve terapagos through some means or it just exists fo merchandising purposes.
People talk about needing a pokemon that sets Trick Room with its ability, similar to drizzle setting rain. IMO if that would be too powerful, I'd say complicate it slightly: Terratrickster: "When one of your Pokemon would set weather or terrain effects, instead set up Trick Room" Or if this pokemon's stats are modified by an opponent, or something along those lines. The version above only works in doubles, and requires pairing with someone else who has a weather effect. The stats version depends on the opponent having intimidate etc, and gives them more power. This isn't necessarily how it HAS to be, but I'd start with that type of nuanced design.
Great video. I am surprised to see dusk Maine, so high up there. He always seemed somewhat busted, but it was never clear because he was always defensive.
Very cool. You mentioned that Arceus Normal is ranked lower hecause people choose other forms as well. Where would Arceus rank if you added up all of his type forms? #1 ?
Someone said way back in the Garchomp video that Garchomp was too honest for OU anymore. I think that much the same with Palkia & Dialga. I'd love to see your thoughts on why they're such dishonourable mentions.
Imo Koraidon is really good because of tera fire, if you ignore tera, Miraidon is the best. Tera fire turns your 4x weakness to fairy and your 2x weakness to ice, into resistances. But also you gain a burn immunity on your physical attacker, and gain STAB flare blitz In the sun.
I'm surprised to not see groudon at all, you mean to tell me a bulky beast like groudon who benefits from sun already being key in the format and gained SPIKES isn't in the top 10??
groundon is doing fine, but struggles with having slightly weak stats. Its a ground type that struggles to check Miradon since it really struggles to absorb draco meteor more then once. Since it doesn't do a great job at checking miradon many teams will opt to take another ground type instead thats better at that job. Groundon also needs to rely on precipitate blades, which is a good move but its inaccurate which makes running groundon less appealing. Finally it has a hard time picking its moves, it needs blades and at least one of spikes or stealth rocks which gives it only 2 slots left to fill in gaps. For example a groundon running wilo wisp instead of stone edge lets oh ho come in completely for free; but if it gives up wisp for edge then it lets Arceus set up in front of it.
Zacian is not the "perfect offensive pokemon" imo, it's hard stopped by a lot of things this gen and it's not gonna sweep. What it is is a weird role compression offensive-defensive mon, that stops choiced korai/mirai from clicking dragon moves and acts as a Ekiller, Deoxys, Flutter Mane, Iron Bundle and Chien-Pao check.
Terapagos mostly seems to be used as a utility Pokemon, not a sweeper. I don’t think anyone thinks a sweeper role would be good. Meanwhile, Terapagos has a lot of really good utility moves on top of having large bulk and a strong defensive ability
I'm convinced he pronounces Pokémon names slightly differently on purpose so that the video gets more comments which in turn pushes the video in the algorithm If not then you will still get +1 comment from me, ggwp

First time I've heard somebody say Terapagos out loud, I've always wondered how people would say it. I say it like Galapagos
10:45 thats so cute, like its just a dog that has no idea how broken it is
Terapagos - have baby form and its own base stats despite not usable in battle
Koraidon/Miraidon - in-game data have ride form to be usable in battle, but not able to be use in normal gameplay
The editing is phenomenal and it's a very dense video common Freezai W
would love if you did this for previous generations :)
For the reason why the baby form of Terapagos exists its likely either because the story of the DLC changed and initially you were supposed to evolve terapagos through some means or it just exists fo merchandising purposes.
It's mostly likely like Xerneas.
The out of combat form.
Merch
Pokeathalon music is criminally underused.
People talk about needing a pokemon that sets Trick Room with its ability, similar to drizzle setting rain. IMO if that would be too powerful, I'd say complicate it slightly:
Terratrickster: "When one of your Pokemon would set weather or terrain effects, instead set up Trick Room"
Or if this pokemon's stats are modified by an opponent, or something along those lines. The version above only works in doubles, and requires pairing with someone else who has a weather effect. The stats version depends on the opponent having intimidate etc, and gives them more power. This isn't necessarily how it HAS to be, but I'd start with that type of nuanced design.
i remember when miraidon was conspicuously more used than koraidon, very curious that it changed
Scale Shot is a move of all time
Goat play is talking about how amazing Necrozma-DM is while showing it getting dunked in by ZC
1:52 he says terasandstrom hilarious
As a Kyogre main since 2003, it pleases me to see the big whale back in front of Groudon and terrifying ubers with water spout
The only other form you really see is Arceus-Fairy so I don't think it'd be number 1
I would believe so normal/ground/fairy see a good amount of usage in top play and water and ghost are decent as well.
Yes
Someone said way back in the Garchomp video that Garchomp was too honest for OU anymore. I think that much the same with Palkia & Dialga.
I'd love to see your thoughts on why they're such dishonourable mentions.
1:53 terra sandstorm like a boss 😎
I love the use of pokemon conquest music
"Tera-pa-goes" D:
Lmao just messing with ya
I love that you put Pokemon Conquest music ❤
Game Freak really just sees a wave 2 dlc legendary and goes "yep let's give it a 120 BP stab spread move with no drawback"
Dang, you didn't have to do Palkia dirty like that.
Thank you for the Pokemon Conquest BGM!
Terapagos is a rapid spinner in ubers, I’m here for it.
Love the conquest music in the back
Can you make a video on the sleep ban? I'd love to hear your opinion on it.
Baby Terapagos is obviously for the yet-unreleased Balanced Little Cup Hackmons 😂
I'm surprised to not see groudon at all, you mean to tell me a bulky beast like groudon who benefits from sun already being key in the format and gained SPIKES isn't in the top 10??
Groudon is not the best sun setter in Ubers anymore
groundon is doing fine, but struggles with having slightly weak stats.
Deoxys and ho-oh are my favorite pokemon
based music choice editor. we love conquest's pugilis battle theme here
Good video but you got your words mixed up a few times lol. Tera Sandstorm had me thinking that was a move 😅
Darude Sandstorm 😂
I loved the Tera-pog-os storyline of the dlc, really emotional 🥺
Terapagos is pronounced like ,"Galapagos," as in the islands of the coast of Ecuador.
Curious how often my boy Giratina was getting bodied in this vid
Giratina is genderless, not a boy! And we do not refer to genderless Pokemon as a boy or a girl!
@@Amelia4111 you don’t, I do. That’s my homeboy. Thanks for your attempt to tell me how I use gendered language but I’ll pass
CONQUEST MUSIC INCLUDED LETS GOOOOOO!!!!!!
calyrex ice, NEEDING trick room, over terapagos, is insane and i think well see that pretty soon
Never forget Revival Blessing Ho Oh, the promise we never got
Zacian is not the "perfect offensive pokemon" imo, it's hard stopped by a lot of things this gen and it's not gonna sweep. What it is is a weird role compression offensive-defensive mon, that stops choiced korai/mirai from clicking dragon moves and acts as a Ekiller, Deoxys, Flutter Mane, Iron Bundle and Chien-Pao check.
It was the perfect Pokemon until it got nerfed 😂
Looks like kyogre got the last laugh from groudon
Who would win?
>The literal gods of time and space
>sandwhich lizard
Terapagos is pronounced like Galopagos, as in the islands where Galapagos turtles are found
Terapagos mostly seems to be used as a utility Pokemon, not a sweeper. I don’t think anyone thinks a sweeper role would be good. Meanwhile, Terapagos has a lot of really good utility moves on top of having large bulk and a strong defensive ability
Yoooo thanks for the shout out big man, always happy to contribute to a video :D
i found the one and only
Day 20 something of asking freezai to post randbats consistently again
Terapagos is definitely better suited to dual battles imo
I'm convinced he pronounces Pokémon names slightly differently on purpose so that the video gets more comments which in turn pushes the video in the algorithm
If not then you will still get +1 comment from me, ggwp
For sure ('Shedninja' enters the chat)
Does neutralising gas not stop terapagos from going adult mode
forme changing abilities (like Tera Shift, Stance Change, Shields Down, Multitype, Schooling, etc.) cannot be deactivated.
You can turn off Tera Shell's effect though.
@@breloommaster12 Ah okay, thank you
If Xerneas were added to SV, do you guys think it would go to AG? Because i did the calcs and...
+2 252+ SpA Fairy Aura Tera Fairy Xerneas Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Necrozma-Dusk-Mane: 206-243 (51.7 - 61%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
kids named zacian and ho-oh:
@@howisthis8849zacian is also 2HKOed by tera fairy modest +2 fairy aura boosted moonblast and Xerneas has 18% chance of OHKO ho-oh with thunder after geomancy (not to tera fairy isn't the only tera type she could use)
Koraidon being #1 while scarf flutter exists is crazy, it'll definitely go down in usage when megas and primals come back though, P-Kyo will do a number on that thing while Miraidon will probably synergerize with it way more with 100% accurate electric terrain boosted thunders
Kori is banned in Nat Dex where the megas and primals are. Miradon is also banned
@@SpectorLKM I meant once gen 10 rolls around and megas and primals come back into the game
@@No.1GodzillaGlazer yeah Koraidon got banned in format with Megas and Primals. It loses Z-Crystals and Tera but Kori is not really dying to use those. Only way he definitely drops down in usage is if a stupid strong fairy type is added or Kori gets a direct nerf. Otherwise dude isn’t dropping that much in usage.
Nice editing.
Arceus is hogging all of gen 4's "Ubers legendary viability" budget.
"Tera-POG-os" --Freezai
Man I feel bad for my boy Groudon
Love how freezai doesn't go into DeoA's defenses and just shows them. I mean it's pretty self explanatory😂
Kyogre as been out for 20 years, I am turning into dust
How this could surprise me? these pokemon are on the thumbnail. I just came to see how looks in scarlet and violet
Why didn’t they give shell smash to Terapagos?
Now I interested in top 10 paradox mons
I want a Keldeo Paradox Form and a Celebi Paradox Form and after that they could add the Yellow/Gold Gorilla😅
I picked Scarlet for 3 reasons:
1. Koraidon looks cooler.
2. Professor Sada looks cooler.
3. Scarlet looks cooler.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Scarlet is the better game for version exclusives despite Violet selling more copies.
You didn't have to assault my boy Palkia like that...
I remember when Calyrex-I was considered the inferior version
It generally still is consider worse then C-shadow due to the sheer speed and great offensive typing it posses, and with tera now to break through dark types.
But it got booted out of Ubers to Anything goes in smogon singles
Yeah Calyrex-S is currently banned from Ubers for being too strong.
it still is lol, calyrex shadow got banned from ubers
what a no-yveltal meta does to a mf
I feel like Terapagos should've been left out entirely and Calyrex-S be in the #1 slot. It is so hilariously overpowered that it is banned from Ubers.
Why did he diss dialga and palkia like that 💀 😭
Probely because in the anime they control space and time but in the games not so much.
What’s funny is that this video already has more views in under a day than people that actually play Uners
Is Ribombee still good ?
I'm pretty sure you're not saying Terapagos, Arceus, or Zacian right.
THE WAY HE SAYS TERAPAGOS IRKS ME
TERA SANDSTORM?!?!?
