You did not turn off the machine. The Bernina tutorial shows that the machine should be turned off when putting your hand under the bobbin casing. I agree with turning off the machine. I managed to slice my finger one time when I was opening the bobbin door and waiting for the bobbin case to flip to the front. (I had my fingers in position to hold the bobbin case as it flipped to the front.) YIKES! Keep fingers off the moveable parts when the machine is turned on. Hard lesson learned . . . and I was at my dealer when this happened and it was not pretty. :-/ Thanks for all the tutorials! So very helpful and informative. :-)

Ouch! So glad I came across this nugget. I just bought a slightly used 880+ and my impatient self would've done the same thing!
