BRAVO!!!!! BRAVO!!!!! Mum Is in a Nursing home. Am Recording a few Songs for Her.... May go with my Computer and Play this for her and the Other Loves!!!
When they begin the beguine It brings back the sound of music so tender, It brings back a night of tropical splendour, It brings back a memory evergreen. I'm with you once more under the stars, And down by the shore an orchestra's playing And even the palms seem to be swaying When they begin the beguine. To live it again is past all endeavour, Except when that tune clutches my heart, And there we are, swearing to love forever, And promising never, never to part. What moments divine, what rapture serene, Till clouds came along to disperse the joys we had tasted, And now when I hear people curse the chance that was wasted, I know but too well what they mean; So don't let them begin the beguine Let the love that was once a fire remain an ember; Let it sleep like the dead desire I only remember When they begin the beguine. Oh yes, let them begin the beguine, make them play Till the stars that were there before return above you, Till you whisper to me once more, "Darling, I love you!" And we suddenly know, what heaven we're in, When they begin the beguine
THIS CERTAINLY WAS THE GOLDEN ERA OF SONG-WRITING & SINGING. WE ARE LUCKY TO STILL HAVE THE VIDEOS & RECORDS OF THIS WONDERFUL MUSIC NOW TO REMEMBER THIS WONDERFUL MUSIC. WHY CAN'T THEY WRITE SUCH GREAT SONGS ANYMORE,WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A FEW
Wow will there ever be a post of these girls I don't fall in love with ? This is the most successful girl group of the first half of the last century and I really hope they are never forgotten. Love it !!
what a great singers during the war years loved them saw them on tour in new Orleans after the war years got to meet them so great///////////////////////.
The Andrew Sisters were perhaps the greatest female trio ever with their perfect harmonies. Not until Diana Ross and the Supremes came along was there anyone to even compare them to. Great music of a great time.
Thanks, Beyoncetyratina, for posting this. The Andrew Sisters were and still are one of the best singer ragtime acts of all time. What beautiful harmony and coordinated dancing with such beautiful and everlasting songs.
For me the best version of this song I have ever Heard through there have been many good ones too. I had the idea it was an old song but did not really know of what epoch it was as I first Heard it in the early sixties. Nice to hear and to enjoy.
Thanks for taking time to produce this. When you stop and think what was going on with the Axis powers then, hard to realize it was so long ago. But then again, look what's going on now...Will the future reflect today, and today's music? Look at the difference. Still love the 40's music. Ron
how good are those music of yesteryears, mostly at the era of the 40s,before JAPANESE occupation last world war two, song with beautiful music,GOOD lyrics, with story and melody, missed the ANDREWS, R.I.P,GOD bless those who had a fruitful life on earth ,
You did a wonderful job on this. Video and audio is great. I hope somehow Patty Andrews is shown this presentation and she'll become aware of the special, talented person who both truly appreciates what she & her beautiful sisters did and helps educate a global audience about it. I salute you! :)
This record also we let run in the war in our German aircraft. I was a hunterflyer. This record of Andrew Sisters and Rosita Serrano wanted all to hear. There was no enemy to see. When we are waiting between the fightingtimes, we let run our gramophon with this melodies, and this was a time for freedom, and hoping for stop the war .
It's called evolution.....I don't like the violet crap, most of us don't. There is good music out there, we need to look for it.........talent is in the eye of types who look for it......so much junk to plow through........I feel sorry for our children who never know, hear, and enjoy true talent.
mamatibbors cassady Get the kids to go to RUclips and listen to the incredible Andrea Mitos born in 1995 and living in Barcelona, Spain. There is still hope for great sounds. All is not lost!
I consider Rita Haworth one of the greatest dancers of all times & with Fred Astaire as her partner, she really shows her talent. I also consider her a great actor & it's sad to loose someone like Rita so young with Alzheimer's.
This from a movie with Bing Crosby. I don't believe there is any film footage of the sessions with Glenn Miller from December 1939 through March of 1940.
+Pal Deersk it kills me that there is so little footage of them, they were only the top act at the time. How is there footage of lesser acts all over the place but Glenn Miller and the Andrews Sisters, nah lets not even think about filming this.
One more comment please: I can't believe the producers of What's My Line couldn't find a lousy chair for Maxenne Andrews. If I had been there I'd have b**ch slapped the entire crew LOL I love hearing those gorgeous ladies' voices harmonizing live. I can't imagine what a thrill it was to be there with them witnessing them performing live. I'm always looking out for footage from their late 40's London Palladium concerts, I have faith the good British folks captured it on audio or film. Cheers...
I wish they had done the song in the style of Apple Blossom Time, sweet and sentimental all the way throughout. This jazzy version at the end lost me, fond of them as I am.
When I hear this music I realize how far removed my country is from the USA the Andrew Sisters knew. It might as well be on the other side of the known universe. I grow weary of the constant hate and fear and distrust my government officials and their PAC's repeat day after day, dividing this country and its people as never before. Will we ever learn?
Hi there! I'd love to get in touch with you about the clip from 1:35 to 2:00 for use as part of a film I'm helping put together. Think you could DM me about it? Thanks!
You better have lung stamina to get through this non-32 bar song--and the A.'s sisters have it and hip swing to spare. Cole's longest and also, I believe, thee longest standard---(till Desifinado?)
They were a blessing in a time of great need! Here's to them and all those who fought the great evil that tried to bring freedom under subjugation in that time of history! Seems like that fight is never ending though, as we now have a group of self righteous zealots so enamored with their ideology that murder, genocide, rape and destruction is part of their plan to bring righteousness to all infidels that stand in the way of their quest for world domination, they're are called ISIS but they could easily be mistaken for Nazis or a number of others hell bent on denying human kind their God given right of self determination! The Nazis thought they were creating an orderly world and cleansing the world of an inferior part of society, as they say "History has a habit of repeating itself". . I say, Here's to freedom, let it ring, let it ring, let it ring!
The Andrew Sisters were simply brilliant singers and entertainers. What a talented trio.
Like to go back in time, and the Andrew sisters singing all time hits with the great bands and Crosby. They are the finest.

Hello Linda, How are you doing?
When they begin the beguine
It brings back the sound of music so tender,
It brings back a night of tropical splendour,
It brings back a memory evergreen.
I'm with you once more under the stars,
And down by the shore an orchestra's playing
And even the palms seem to be swaying
When they begin the beguine.
To live it again is past all endeavour,
Except when that tune clutches my heart,
And there we are, swearing to love forever,
And promising never, never to part.
What moments divine, what rapture serene,
Till clouds came along to disperse the joys we had tasted,
And now when I hear people curse the chance that was wasted,
I know but too well what they mean;
So don't let them begin the beguine
Let the love that was once a fire remain an ember;
Let it sleep like the dead desire I only remember
When they begin the beguine.
Oh yes, let them begin the beguine, make them play
Till the stars that were there before return above you,
Till you whisper to me once more,
"Darling, I love you!"
And we suddenly know, what heaven we're in,
When they begin the beguine
Gracias

MUY LINDA M{USICA.

I grow weary of the constant hate and fear and distrust my government officials and their PAC's repeat day after day, dividing this country and its people as never before. Will we ever learn?
And the answer is clearly "NO."
Vintage version of the Cole Porter standard.
Fred Astaire in the Moon.
Hi there! I'd love to get in touch with you about the clip from 1:35 to 2:00 for use as part of a film I'm helping put together. Think you could DM me about it? Thanks!

there's no Glenn, and the voice is not the same the film...
A very poor rendition of this great tune.
