Shemp quit the Stooges (then with Ted Healy) in 1932, and was replaced by Curly. He returned after his brother's stroke in 1946. He had a great solo career for 14 years.
This brought tears to my eyes. Sharing this with my sis. That dance salute got me, had to play over a few times. The past music is so touching. 11.30.20. Mon. 853pm
I was born in 1938 so I was introduced to the big band, the swing mursic, high school in the 50's and then watched as music in general changed (degradation my opinion) through the 60's, 70's and whatever you cal the vulgarities nowdays. For those of you wishing you lived back then it was pretty good after WW11.
@@karlajensen3708 Try The Boswell Sisters, they were around in the 1930's and The Andrews Sisters started their careers imitating the 3 Boswell Sisters. It's where the Andrews learned that style of close harmony. All the Bozzies were also multi instrumentalist. RUclips The Boswell Sisters "Heebie Jeebies" and take it from there. Hope you like them :-)
@@Thomasnmi Those 3 gals got the ball rolling for so many famous female vocal trios, and way back in the early 30's, a mom came home with a recording of the Bozzies, and the womans then young daughter aged around 12 years old was so inspired by the way Connie Boswell sang, that she started to imitate her and learned to sing like her. That young girl had an incredibly amazing career as a singer, and right up to her death credited Connie Boswell for her vocal style and success. That young girl was Ella Fitzgerald.
They were such an inspiration during WW11 the GIs loved them they were great musicians made sacfiries wonder if we would be free without. the guys and gals who served God bless you
What an amazing performance and I have always loved The Andrews Sisters. In fact,I love all things American from that era. This was instilled in me from my mom, who loved classic american movies from the 30's and 40's, and I learned from them to appreciate the generosity and kindness that informed that era.
It was great to see Shemp Howard in this number. At the time this was filmed, he was not a part of the "Three Stooges" team. He joined them in 1946 after Curly had his stroke. After he died in Nov. 1955, Joe Besser took his place with the stooges.
You mean Shemp RE-joined them. Shemp was part of the original act in 1920s Vaudeville with his brother Moe but he left the act in 1933 over a dispute with another original member of the act, Ted Healy. He was replaced at that time by his and Moe's younger brother, Jerry Howard (aka "Curly"). After being solo from 1933 - 1945, Shemp began "temporarily" filling in for Curly with the Stooges in 1945 due to Curly's health issues, but in the end Curly could not return and Shemp once again became a regular member of the act until he died in 1955.
Yes, you are right, but I was referring to the stooge episodes that were filmed. When they began filming the stooge comedies in 1934, Shemp was on the west coast already in other work. That is why Curly was brought in when the stooge filming began.
I'm am literally crying, because I didn't get to grow up with this kind of music and lifestyle, nor will I ever be able to. Someone, please take me back in time.

I'm 58 years old and I love The Andrews Sisters and I love this kind of music big band music I guess you would call it Tommy Dorsey Glenn Miller
Great people, the war time what a blessing the sisters were. Amazing voices.
This men is the Shemp Howard. The three stoges...!!!!!
Shemp quit the Stooges (then with Ted Healy) in 1932, and was replaced by Curly. He returned after his brother's stroke in 1946. He had a great solo career for 14 years.
Forever I will be mesmerized by The Andrews Sisters. ♥️🎶
Fantastic music. Real talent
They had The Perfect Harmony! Totally classy and talented!
Aren't they the greatest!!!
Evelyn Krueger Jazz Age Hollywood ❤❤❤❤❤

Same like me. First time hearing this when i was 16
Perfect harmony!! I love it!! :)
I envy you sir!
Jazzy ever version ! Merci beaucoup from Paris France and take care. Emmanuel
Real music played by real musicians and great singers with a funny comedy twist. Entertainment from a harsh time.
Big Band is just great.
Yes, yes it is.
I agree
LOVE THIS SONG. THOSE WOMAN COULD SING
All of you young people..... never stop listening... never let true music & patriotism!
The Andrew Sisters where great + like their music.
Patricia Marie "Patty" (February 16, 1918 - January 30, 2013) 94yrs old
I’m not a teen but as a teen my dad played all their songs. I loved all the big bands and singers of that era. Mills brothers were really good too
I love the sound of stati in old songs like listening to a radio
They remain incomparable. Many trios have tried, but none are equal.
Lennon sisters are a few years later but while the Andrew Sisters will always be #1 in my books, they are a very close second.
Hope you like them :-)
@@bozyip I am a big Boswell sisters fan also
@@Thomasnmi Those 3 gals got the ball rolling for so many famous female vocal trios, and way back in the early 30's, a mom came home with a recording of the Bozzies, and the womans then young daughter aged around 12 years old was so inspired by the way Connie Boswell sang, that she started to imitate her and learned to sing like her. That young girl had an incredibly amazing career as a singer, and right up to her death credited Connie Boswell for her vocal style and success. That young girl was Ella Fitzgerald.
They were such an inspiration during WW11 the GIs loved them they were great musicians made sacfiries wonder if we would be free without. the guys and gals who served God bless you
Hello Mary, How are you doing?
This is better than today's music. Modern music just has changed.
Baby the harmony these sisters had my god ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
Maxene,Patty, LaVerne.. Their sound was iconic. Supported by Shemp Howard.
What an amazing performance and I have always loved The Andrews Sisters. In fact,I love all things American from that era. This was instilled in me from my mom, who loved classic american movies from the 30's and 40's, and I learned from them to appreciate the generosity and kindness that informed that era.
Really? My father taught me to love Old School Hollywood.
Great Routine.
Back in a time when America really was great. Hopefully President Trump will make that dream true again.
Minus the sexism and racism and war and economical collapse
+Azazera Azymoto economical destruction? keep dreaming libturd. economic miracles more like
PROUD TO BE A DEPLORABLE 😅 MAGA
Patty, Maxine and Laverne! They were amazing!!!!
My grandma used to sing this to my sister and I (when we were teenagers lol) but said her dad used to sing it to her. 💕
Shemp was underrated as a Stooge. Curly was great too. Maybe they should have done the 4 stooges
Yes, you are right, but I was referring to the stooge episodes that were filmed. When they began filming the stooge comedies in 1934, Shemp was on the west coast
already in other work. That is why Curly was brought in when the stooge filming began.
I always crack up when I watch, This is Spinal Tap, when one of the many replacement drummers is called, Joe 'Mama' Besser.
Didn't realize the Andrews sisters could be so funny! Love this video!
Hello Debbie, How are you doing?
@@Kelly-nm4kw hey

Entertainment at its best. We'll be waiting millions of years before this ever happens again!
