Haha, yeah. I think more FLGSs should run "no cheese, just fun" game nights and events, maybe with narrative themes. It's just a game after all!
@@MidwinterMinis Isn't that sort of what Kill Team takes care of? I am brand new to WH40K myself, I just started this hobby in February of this year, so there is still a lot I don't know.
Sort of, but there's many units in many armies that are simply bad. Over-costed, under-powered. They're still fun to make, paint, and play though. They just die instantly, hah.

I havent played Warhammer since highschool back in the 90s. I dont really have a desire to play now, but I love the character models and I could sit and watch these painting videos all day long. Great job.

This sand army has given me an idea of a snow army! To Painting I go!

Go for it! They're really fun to paint. The sprue connections on Warrior's faces are bloody annoying though, haha
True, I'll give it a go though still, I want to paint a dynasty not normally used, so I think I might paint some thokt dynasty necrons
I feel really bad for wanting to do an army like this now but man is the urge strong! Just found the channel through Goobertown Hobbies and have subscribed. This has got to be the coolest scheme for Necrons ive ever seen man and the execution is on point. Love this channel already keep the great content coming.

Do you ascribe to the naming of figures? In my group we write the names of all the cool dudes on their bases. Did that necron just make 6 regen saves and it's the last one in the squad? He gets a name. Probably something like Steve or Jerry. Jerry the necron.

By far the best Necron army I've ever seen and up there with the best professionally painted army's I've seen. You really should think about doing commission work!

7:45 mark regarding spending the time to assemble/paint a model only to have it get one-shot, I completely hear you.
During my WFB days, I had a Skaven Doomwheel get shot by a battery of dwarf cannon, took it out in one turn. Never used the model again and to this day it still sits (along with my old Screaming Bell) on my bookcase.
Haha, oh no! How disappointing. I keep fielding my Gorkanaut, even though it constantly gets smashed ;)

Ha! Ive got a non-competitive Necron list painted in the sandstone style as well now. I wonder why that is? :)
As much as I love their style, I probably wont be getting more than 2k of them. Their regeneration abilities just becomes less valuable the larger the force becomes.
On the other hand; my Guardsmen painted in the style of your Traitor Guard from Blackstone, generally outnumber the Orks and Tyranids they routinely face.

Oh man. I really have no intentions of stealing someone else's army scheme. However, I may "borrow" some ideas :) When Forgebane came out last year I had decided to start Necrons. Well, life got in the way and I never kicked it off. When 9th was announced with Necrons in the starter box I was once again stirred. I always envisioned my Necrons to have risen from the sands of some desert planet and have a bit of a Tomb Kings feel from Warhammer Fantasy. I wanted them to have a rusty looking skeleton with bone colored plating and turquoise blue accents and "glow" where appropriate. So this is amazing and a big inspiration. Thanks!

I don't worry about creating fluff armies, my all primaris, mainly vanguard army at 1500 pts has no really answer to death guard (my regular enemy). But the look on my mates face when the 36 shots from my inceptors actually do something is priceless to behold and worth all the losses.
Haha, I love random unexpected results. I had a single Gretchin left from a "hold objective" squad of 10. 4 died, 5 ran away, the remaining grot took 1 wound off an Inceptor from shooting, then charged, avoided all overwatch, and finished the marine off in close combat. So. Many. Sixes.

it's called "shiny model syndrome" :-) I had a primaris reiver assembled and painted for a Kill Team game couple of weeks ago, for him to be killed in the first battle round :-))) as you have said: "part of the hobby"

I'm so pleased someone talked about this. We all read up about these battle hardened super human marines in the best armour around but then they check out from a game surprisingly easily.

It might be selfish, but I'm kind of glad that your monolith looks about as well 'put together' as mine (I bought one in the early 00's). It means that I didn't assemble mine like crap, but the model itself fits together rather poorly. Makes me feel just a tad bit better.

looks absolutely fantastic! if you haven't painted them already you should do the armigers from the forge bane set for your speed painting series, I'd love to see tips for tackling some of the larger minis.

I don't really understand it myself! I think doing a whole box set series definitely helped, and I try to cut any "waffle" so everything is quite direct, and straight to the point. That way, I think people watch for longer, which RUclips likes I think!

I try to, sure! Time's always a limiting factor, but actually Necrons are pretty straight forward to play in terms of being a low-model army with simple(ish) rules :)
@@MidwinterMinis I usually play Friday nights, my mate who I play with plays with his necrons some times and I hate them! He runs a 60 warriors 3 doomsday ark list + toys list and its horrible!

When I start playing Warhammer and once I get my own Necrons, I would want to try an Overgrown idea. And id pick the Tau and give them anime color pallets.
I remember when the monolith was nigh un-killable. At least that's how 11 yr old me remembers it
It all else fails, just throw the actual model at your enemies ;)
That Monolith is probably more powerful in 9th now, Just watched Gruemans necron tierlist and he puts it at a 4 star rating.

Awesome, I really like the Space Crusade Androids you used. Have you seen the original metal Necrons? It would be cool If you could find a couple and mix them in with your army, although I think they might be a bit chunkier than the current Necrons and might not fit in as well as the Androids.
Maybe I could use them as a special HQ? Legit ancient Necrons demand respect ;)
I'm going to try this effect with some cadian snipers to really make them look "all ghillied up" haha could you try an astra militarum speed painted army next maybe?
