    I could be wrong but if I remember correkt we used to heat and cool of the side we wanted the steel to bend towards. Thats opposit to what you did?

      Looked that way to me, also. Probably confused when watching Fenner do a long shaft where he indicates on the 'hump' rather than the end.

      It is very likely that I did some things wrong as this was my first time trying this. Watching others do it is how I learned. There is definitely an art to doing it properly.

      Bearings are 88503 which are available from reputable suppliers. The extended race on each side provides space for a felt seal behind the shield. By using standard double shield 6203s you’re not get the benefit of a seal on each side.

    You have too much in the chuck
    With full contact, if jaws aren't parallel, you can kink the shaft. I have actually proved it to myself.
