  • [EN] The second installment of the series dedicated to MiniArt's excellent T54-1 Mod. 1947. I intended to do a step-by-step build, but with 970 parts to match together the film would have been hours long. I complemented with pictures wherever the I skipped the film sequences to bring the movie to a watchable length.
    Please enjoy!
    Happy New Year!
    Vizionare placuta!
    An Nou fericit!

Whats the name of the begin song (march song) in this video? Great build btw. Never build a miniart tank kit, the parts count scared me a bit.

Plastic quality no where near Tamiya. Very soft and fuzzy - not sharp hard edged plastic. I’ve seen better potters clay than this shit.
    Peace

I beg to differ, Sir! It is true it is brittle on the small parts and maybe a little "soapy", but nowhere as bad as the silver Tamiya plastic from my latest build (Porsche 959) that literally crazed and melts under the weakest solvent. Unique occurrence so far - but yet!

Miniart do great stuff! I'm a big fan of miniart armour! I have done a lot of videos on miniart products.

Beautiful model. I don't really get the complaints about kits being too much work and having too many parts. When I was a kid, assembling the model was most of the fun. Painting them was great, but not the big payoff it is now. I see guys at shows proudly explaining the days of effort invested in the 500 different methods and techniques they applied to their award-winning model, yet they have visible seams and joins, sprue marks, filing and sanding scars, glue leaks and fingerprints, especially on clear components. So many modelers now rush through the "boring" assembly to get to the fun weathering. Kind of a shame. (This T-54 looks great, though.)

Thank you for leaving a comment and Happy Holydays!
I agree with you 100%. Ironically, we as modellers want as many details as possible and then the same us complain about the same details :). There are instances of poor engineering though, as in this T54's case the smoke canisters, unnecessarily over complicated as plastic / PE / plastic again sandwiches but per whole assembly the kit is beautiful.
And, indeed, nowadays the accent lays on the finishing and weathering in disproportionate manner, thanks to Mig Jimenez and alike.
Lately I am more into 1/24th cars and I somewhat feel "cheated", if not frustrated when an (older) model comes in only few parts, especially the interiors, killing all the detail. The balance is hard to achieve though and I can say that my favourites are Moebius Models for cars. For armoured vehicles, newer Tamiya, MiniArt, Bronco and Hobby Boss are scoring big in my preferences.

@@PanzergrauModels There's never been a better time to be a scale modeler! These new kits are astonishing. Meng, MiniArt, Tamiya, etc. Kits we never dreamed about when I was young. And the range of paints and tools is amazing. It would be nice if young(er) model makers rediscovered the joy of assembling kits properly. There's really no excuse for sloppy assembly with the precision models on the market today. Not like the clunky old Airfix and Monogram stuff (etc.) from days gone! xD

:) I did snapped a few before. Not so difficult with the right tools and correct lightning / working position.

Thanks for the video. I've been slowly building their T-54b, but the overly complex engineering and high parts count has slowed me down. It will get done, but at a slower pace then other builds.

Hi, Erik! I'm the one I have to thank you for subscribing and for the comment :) It was a slow build indeed, it took me some 5 months I think, and I was under moderate time pressure, building this model for a review on Armorama. I found also traces of over-engineering, especially the smoke canisters and the AA MG, but the level of detail achieved it's just mind blowing and deserves the time spent on the build. My next foray in MiniArt armor it's going to be T-44M, this time with full interior, engine and all. I hope I can start in in September. Cheers! Gabriel

Nice build. I'm about to start on their T-55. I'm curious about why you used white glue to attach the road wheels?

Great build. I specially liked the technique you used to call out paint, tools, etc. I would like to hear your commentary of the build as you progress. Better lighting Woolf improve your videos

A way too complicated over engineered kit, it didnt kill you i guess

I'm alive and well, Kevin. Yes, you can say it's over-engineered here and there, especially the smoke canisters and the AA machine-gun. But the final result it's spectacular! Cheers, mate! Thanks for stopping by. Gabriel

Good spirit of observation! Indeed, it was but I spotted the mistake just on time and I fixed it outside camera. On the final model you can see that all is good! Thank you! Gabriel

German background music while building a Soviet tank. Bold choice.

Haha. I haven't see it that way :) For me the music has no nationality but, in this case, it is about the YT copyright; I remember I've tried to get a Katiousha song for another build and I couldn't find any without copyright infringement :(

What glue do you have in the video when you are gluing the tracks?

    • @PanzergrauModels
      @PanzergrauModels  5 лет назад

Testors cement for plastics. It acts slower than Tamiya extra thin and the tracks remain workable for 45 min or so. Thanks for watching and thanks for asking!
