    I was taking outdoor beach bird photos today and totally messed them up because I was always taught to use Manual settings BUT I didn't have the right shutter speeds, aperture or ISO and they came out horrible. Found Paul's channel and it brought back all that I needed to learn again and first time learnings as well - what a great channel!! Thank you Paul.

    I take a lot of still photos so my shutter speed is 1/100 to start. I change it with the light of course. Since I mostly use FV canon mode, I can keep my aperture locked it where I want it. Just like Manual mode. Now, if i do try a freeze frame then I am using 1/1000 or faster depending on light and motion. Good video.

    Try different stuff, don't be afraid to fail. If your camera starts smoking, sparking, and/or catches fire, you'll know you've gone too far. Easy.

    Being a novice, I really enjoy your videos. I’m retired and have become interested in photography. I have an older Nikon 3400 with kit lenses. I’ve taken some very good photos with it but woukd like to upgrade to a newer camera and better lenses. My budget doesn’t allow for one of the full frame cameras like professionals use. One of my friends has a new Canon ESO 90D and loves it. What is your advice?

      @@photogenius Cool, will do. I'm 57 now and use MixCloud to do the do, as I am in month 10 of a 2 year recovery from a urgent spinal operation. Then have another two possibly 3 operations after that. So everything has become limited and have to think outside the box when it comes to photography and reaching places to capture. Many have been captured from the cab of my ute. Pretty new to Digital, 2 years now, just upgraded to a Nikon Z6II about 3 months ago. I really enjoy your channel, advice, guidance and tips.Thank you.

    The best shutter speed is the setting that freezes the movement of your subject. Unless you are creating an artistic blur.

    I’ve been watching your videos for a long time. It seems that you are always using ISO 200. Could you explain your reasoning?

    • @photogenius
      @photogenius  8 месяцев назад

      "ISO keep it low" has been my message for sometime. Of course more recently with Adobe De-noise and advancements in sensors and camera tech, pushing the ISO higher isn't as big a deal as it was a few years back. I still believe that keeping the ISO low is best as a default, up until the point that you need to use it.
      ISO 200 is also often the recommended ISO by the camera manufacturers.
      Thanks for watching and supporting my channel.
