While I liked the series quite well and actually enjoyed most of what the Darkest Knight represented, but it is also highlights one of the biggest issues with superhero media. It always has to be bigger, badder, meaning and stronger and we are currently on a level that the threats can be considered no longer multiversal but hyperversal in a lot of cases. Which in turns means that the heroes have to go to more extreme measures to even to be able to stand a chance. And more often than not, the odds have been so staked against the heroes that there is no real time left in the comic run to get to any satisfying ending, often opening the door for a Deus Ex Machina. And it is sad that in the case of this character, it is the second time they had to do it. In the first Dark Nights: Metal, The Dark Knights were clearly too powerful for the heroes and instead of having them go in temporary exile and have an event of them reconquering Earth over time, perhaps in several runs, they wanted to resolve things at the end of DNM and so the heroes were outfitted with 10th Metal, turning the odds 180° in minutes. And with Dark Nights: Death Metal, they had to dip Wonder Woman in Gold for her to end the crisis after the Darkest Knight hadn't experienced a single setback... With Marvel, I believe something similar happened to Knull, insanely powerful being, able of ripping the Sentry to shreds, defeated by a hero given some literal plot armor... Another popular trope is time travel to prevent the events from even taking place. But back to this character, it would have been more satisfying if the heroes had escaped at the end of Dark Nights Metal but had to go into exile as the Dark Knights took over Earth, with each carving their own territory on Earth and make it a year round event: A Year in Darkness, where the Justice League regroups and try to reclaim the Earth, piece by piece, defeating the Dark Knights as if they were video game bosses (one by one, with ever shifting territories as Dark Knights expand their influence if another falls.) This would allow DC to give each villain an interesting day in the light, explore heroes from all of the globe and introduce some new heroes from all these places and more importantly be more creative with how the Dark Knights are defeated, instead of killing them all in a rather unsatisfying way, maybe as the following: - Red Death: getting polar switched and either turned good or and sacrifice himself in a battle against one of the others or be destroyed in an antimatter explosion. - Murder Machine: getting shut down. - Dawnbreaker: reformed by the Indigo Tribe. - The Drowned: disappeared in the Mariana trench - The Merciless: Trapped in Tartarus - The Devastator: Imprisoned in the Phantom Zone. - The Batman Who Laughs, after betraying Barbatos, he is eventually dealt with by Batman and Joker... Barbatos ends up in his prison but BWL disappears without a trace. After that, we might have some hints once in a while and have him return a couple years later, where we see the Justice League visit some of the Dark Knights to get answers. But I wouldn't make him the all-powerful evil he eventually was turned into. Sure, he deserves to be a great threat and A-list villain but he didn't had to be a god, even if it was a logical choice for him to turn out that way with everything going on with Perpetua.

Rob, I've been watching you since 2015, and you've always brought back my love for comics in general, and I know I'm one of hundreds of comments that you see daily, but I wanna take the time to ask you if you can cover all 160 issues of the ultimate spiderman run, leading up to his death. I would really appreciate that. Have a great day, and merry Christmas.
In Dungeons and Dragons there are power levels to the gods, something called Divine Ranks. The ranks are then broken into 3 tiers of power: lesser, intermediate, and greater gods. Greater gods are omniscient, nearly totally immune to all effect not from a stronger entity, and can shape universes (or “Planes”) to their whims. The term used for entities ABOVE greater gods is the blanket term “Overdeity”. I think that’s the term I would use to label perpetua, the darkest knight, and that final form of wonder women. Other Overdeities would probably be things like The presence/source, the one above/below all, and the mother of creation from Spawn.
Wow just wow! Just when you think you seeing every version of Batman you bring this one up and it blows my mind! I don't even know what's beyond omega level? Mabe....OMEGA LEVEL 2.0?? 👍👍👍👍
Perpetua created multiverses, and destroyed universes in her weakest state, the darkest knight defeated her, wonder woman defeated him, and chaos king struggled to destroy one multiverse making him multi-universal, and marvel has *less* universes than dc.
Wow, first 10 minutes? Nice. Also, nice to see such a recently created character on this list. Feels like like just yesterday the whole darkest nights saga came out.
There's a point when a character's abilities and power become just too ridiculous to the extremes of what the average person can grasp and that can end up alienating readers and people just lose interest and enthusiasm about the comic. And I believe this may have been reached a few times in this run, and even the writers had to "plot armor" their way out.
The problem i have with it is that we never get an explanation for what they can do, at best we get "they can do anything " , which is super boring and makes fights so boring and contrived. Like i want cosmic armour super man and the darkest knight to fight, but their powers are so poorly explained that i have no clue who would win due to how confusing it is.

Come onnnn. The darkest knight was not killed by Wonder Woman. That was just a piece of him that Wonder Woman was fighting as shown in the end panels that when asked if they won she said all she sees is laughter. And it shows the darkest knight around everywhere just smiling.
I mean in war of the multiverses the batman who laughs does acknowledge that the darkest knight might lose but that would mean he would still exist, which he was brought back in the fortnite crossover
Yea it was the hands that realized the truth of what wonderwoman showed them that ended the BWL. At that point not even a world forged WW or even SBP could kill him though it was said SBP was able to stalematch him n couldnt be wiped from existence by him either.
@@CloroxBleach-qy7vy He only stalemated batmanhattan who laughs because Batmanhattan was holding together all the anti matter from the multiverses!! All while fighting superboy prime. The writers aren’t that stupid to have wonder woman finish it off like that. If batman stated to be able to finish off the hands. Wonder Woman stands no chance at all. He just finished his job.
Thank you so much for doing this!!! He's my favorite villain from my favorite story! I'm so sick of Darkseid being the ultimate, big bad. This guy was amazing! What a wonderful Christmas surprise!!!!
While I love the story I hate the Darkest Knight. Dr Manhattan was cool as an outside force, but dragging him into a plot point for some backwards ascension.
What’s funny is that I’m pretty sure he might’ve planned on probably dying again because of a line someone says from the batman/fortnite comics. It was along the lines of “well he looks like he’s no longer omnipotent” also whats happening recently with that whole fortnite dc and marvel stuff, really makes me think the batman who laughs might want to cross over to the marvel universe to team with someone else. Maybe knull, idk
Hey Rob, can you explain: 1)Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie Comics) 2) The Key(DC) 3)The Mother of Existence 4)Lobster Johnson 5)Reptil 6)Crimson Dynamo (Valetin Shatalov) 7)Blue Beetle(Jaime Reyes) 8)Cyborg Superman Beyond Omega Level: Odin’s Doom(Ultimate Alliance Final Boss Dr Doom)
This is the most whack nonsense. I can't believe someone could read this without stopping in the middle and just throwing away the script. There is a reason I haven't read DC in so long. It was like after the OG Crisis there was an utter lack of direction for such a long time which just developed into this absurdity as its final form over the years. Here we are, taking the character that symbolized DC as a company not caring about their creatives, Dr Manhatten, and literally ripping out his brains only to replace it with the worst watered down iteration of an idea that someone with zero creativity said at the world's saddest pitch meeting. "What if Batman is Joker, but edgy and dark." Then they extract the brain and very soul of the character from the best written and most lauded series in company history to replace it with the most poorly contrived mash up of corporate greed and creative bankruptcy ever shat into existence. Watching this hurt me. It's not Rob's fault, Rob is great and doing the best with what he's got to work with. It is late stage capitalism just doing its thing and running buck wild trying to destroy anything with meaning, sincerity, and a unique voice that still exists in the never ending hunt for another positive growth quarter to please the ghoulish investors. Bathatten. Just saying it makes me loose faith in humanity and know there is no Santa or anything else good left in the world.
He didnt kill her, she was entrapped again. The hands either killed or took her home. You also skipped over how Superboy Prime was able to beat him down to the point that the BMWL had to give him what he wanted so he would leave him alone because he couldnt defeat him.
BMWL could have destroyed superboy at any time, but it would have required his full attention/power since hes superman if he had (almost) no weaknesses and no moral compass to hold his powers back. Having superboy face off against a fragment of the BMWL and then trap him in the paradise dimension when he thinks he won the battle and its time to go back home (when all of creation is basically been destroyed) was an extremely smart play. If he hadn't sent him away, batman's fight against his forces would have gone significantly smoother because BMWL had nothing outside of himself that could even contest superboy prime. It was implied the "darkest" universe version of superboy was a genuine hero in all cases. So he had no darkest superboy to draw from.
I'm still waiting on an explanation for His and Prime's fight... Best fight I've seen in ages in DC. And literally no explanation as to what actually happens. Is he dead? Could he not be killed, but rather displaced to a different time? (Perhaps before Crisis and such. BWL did say he couldn't kill him) Someone, for the love of all that is good.. explain what's going on with my boy?? Redemption arc must be followed through all the way!!
while its not directly explained, it can be implied he was shifted off to another version of the Paradise dimension. Since superboy would have effectively been batmans strongest tool by far. (practically no weaknesses) if he had been allowed to stay in the story. Superboy is probably in another paradise dimension, since hes finally accepted in all his life hes been wrong and accepted his shame for all the things hes done. Superboy can also break *out* of prison dimensions with extremely few exceptions. So it was a better play to just play into superboys shame and then trap him in a paradise dimension. Superboy only beat a significantly weaker fragment of the darkest knight.
@@thefallencog There is no confirmation that version was a Weaker version of the BWL And that's the problem. There is no confirmation on what happened at all. I mean, we can speculate. But until the writers say for certain. I'd prefer to leave it as that. An unexplained mystery, until they decide it's time to revive his story for one last run. And another.
Batman Who Laughs is cool, I like the idea and design. He started out menacing and well-written. But eventually he became too damn popular and that's why we got..this. Also, putting Watchmen into the DC universe was definitely a mistake, in my opinion.
While in a way it does feel like a natural progession for him (he saw himself as an apex predator after all), they burned him out way too quickly and instead of using him sporadically, they used him for everything and had to raise the stakes higher and higher and way too quick... And another issue with not just BWL but a lot of other characters in comics (Knull from Marvel comes to mind), they are creating a being so powerful, you need either a deus ex machina for the heroes to actually be able to defeat this god-being or go for time travel, to prevent the whole thing from happening in the first place...
Have you read Doomsday Clock? That story does a really good job of bring Watchmen to the DCU. It is kind if a Superman/DC meta commentary (which I love). The writting alone is leagues above DKM. DC really shot themselves in the other foot when theg abandoned Rebirth.

Just realized his contingency plan relied upon Wonder Woman not destroying his brain in their clash. If she had wrecked his brain with that chainsaw, that woulda been it
Well to be fair when you kill someone you never think "i should cut his brain in two"
@@yoloboloyolo888 True but after dealing with many super villains, cosmic beings, etc one would definitely double tap several times over 😅
No matter how powerful you write a god, they’ll never jump out of the book
Rob, I've been watching you since 2015, and you've always brought back my love for comics in general, and I know I'm one of hundreds of comments that you see daily, but I wanna take the time to ask you if you can cover all 160 issues of the ultimate spiderman run, leading up to his death. I would really appreciate that. Have a great day, and merry Christmas.
Batman Joker + God + Prep Time THIS IS THE EMBODIMENT OF YOU ARE FUCKED UP
In Dungeons and Dragons there are power levels to the gods, something called Divine Ranks. Other Overdeities would probably be things like The presence/source, the one above/below all, and the mother of creation from Spawn.
this was good thank you
Wow just wow! Just when you think you seeing every version of Batman you bring this one up and it blows my mind! I don't even know what's beyond omega level? Mabe....OMEGA LEVEL 2.0?? 👍👍👍👍
So he's basically dc's version of the chaos king.
...so basically, what happens if Joker becomes the Chaos King.
That would be an interesting versus ,
Nah. Most of these characters are beyond the chaos king
Perpetua created multiverses, and destroyed universes in her weakest state, the darkest knight defeated her, wonder woman defeated him, and chaos king struggled to destroy one multiverse making him multi-universal, and marvel has *less* universes than dc.
@@deathstroke0976 lol chaos king would destroy the entire dc multiverse he was playing with everyone
So Emperor Joker but again?
"So far beyond omega level, omega level is a dot!"
Beyond Omega Level: Mandrakk the Dark Monitor (DC)
Beyond Omega Level: Upside-down Man
Wow, first 10 minutes? Nice.
Also, nice to see such a recently created character on this list. Feels like like just yesterday the whole darkest nights saga came out.
He called golden WW plot armor as if the birth of batman who laughs isn't the cause of plot armorxD
Merry Christmas rob man you get me through to much of my life I found you a few years after my sister passed away and well I wasn’t doing so well. But me and my father really loved the way you made your videos and the way you really cared for comics like we did. I didn’t understand marvel comics as much as my dad, but he didn’t know everything either. And then … we found you Rob and we loved you! We watched every video we could find of you and it made us fell so much better. Please see this Rob because this is how I really feel, MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY COMICS EXPLAINED VIDEO!
Oh yeah check out his other channels or your not a R E A L fan.
Outstanding video as always! Rob (if I may be so familiar), I'd like to say that, mathematically, omega squared makes perfect sense. For further information, I wish to recommend the Vsauce video entitled "How To Count Past Infinity."
This guy is like the chaos king with more power than oblivion
Rob I know I'm not the honor Guard but please do Beyond Omega Level:Golden Lasso of Truth/Anti Crisis Wonder Woman or as call Her Golden Amazon Diana
Don’t forget, 6:27, Superboy prime had a hand in it
So it's safe to say batman is the most dangerous person in the DC Multiverse.
Thank you so much for doing this!!! He's my favorite villain from my favorite story! I'm so sick of Darkseid being the ultimate, big bad. This guy was amazing! What a wonderful Christmas surprise!!!!
Love the videos as always
Can you do Sise Neg next for the next Beyond Omega Level Episode?
Did anyone notice when he said 52 planets in the video the time in the video was 5 minutes and 20seconds
While I love the story I hate the Darkest Knight. Dr Manhattan was cool as an outside force, but dragging him into a plot point for some backwards ascension.
Keep up the good work. Merry Christmas
Man’s really lost to plot armor
Hey Rob, can you explain:
1)Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie Comics)
2) The Key(DC)
3)The Mother of Existence
4)Lobster Johnson
5)Reptil
6)Crimson Dynamo (Valetin Shatalov)
7)Blue Beetle(Jaime Reyes)
8)Cyborg Superman
Beyond Omega Level:
Odin’s Doom(Ultimate Alliance Final Boss Dr Doom)
Squirrel girl's #4 Squirrel could beat the entire justice league. Blindfolded...
So if this Bruce Wayne/Batman was to die, would his spirit be normal or would it be corrupt? Because the Joker gas only affects Bruce physically.
That would be a cool concept to read about someday
"And this is to go even further beyond!" - Goku
I might call it "Beyond Looney Toons Level"
If there is any character I would want for a DC Marvel crossover, I would want it to be the Batman who laughs/the darkest knight!
When you are such a gigachad you only get defeated by a character wearing litteral plot armor🤣
All of galactus Heralds explained more or less there history please!!! in the name of internity and infinity
the biggest menace
So he had no darkest superboy to draw from.
nah he was just using superboy prime, and prime knew it too
He killed prime.
@@chall5711 He's Not Dead, he's Returned to Prime Earth
The darkest knight lived by the plot armor and died by the plot armor, truly poetic
I'm still waiting on an explanation for His and Prime's fight...
Best fight I've seen in ages in DC. And literally no explanation as to what actually happens.
Is he dead?
Could he not be killed, but rather displaced to a different time? (Perhaps before Crisis and such. BWL did say he couldn't kill him)
Someone, for the love of all that is good.. explain what's going on with my boy??
"Is he dead?"
god willing

There is no confirmation that version was a Weaker version of the BWL
And that's the problem. There is no confirmation on what happened at all.
I mean, we can speculate. But until the writers say for certain. I'd prefer to leave it as that. An unexplained mystery, until they decide it's time to revive his story for one last run. And another.
@@KalousTheGuy tdk akr said the didnt want to waste his power on sbp

@@srinivasanbalaji4867 I'm sorry, but my Brain must not on par this morning my guy, I did not understand what you meant there lad.
Darkest knight looking like black zetsu 🤣lol I like his design doe😎
The only 2 parts I love about this whole series was Superboy Prime kicking his butt and the ending. Man it’s literally Edge lord of edge.
Should name this series “Beyond Omega Level and still lost”
Batman Who Laughs is cool, I like the idea and design. He started out menacing and well-written.
But eventually he became too damn popular and that's why we got..this.
Also, putting Watchmen into the DC universe was definitely a mistake, in my opinion.
The story of DC is a series of bad decisions
Thank you Rob! Happy holidays!
I think the batman who laughs final form should have been the Joker, woulda been dope

The very thing that the batman has a his power was the very thing that kills the darkest knight, plot armor.
Doesn’t this make Wonder Woman like. Leagues stronger than almost every single version of Superman☠️
