Hrm. So you're saying that because he accepted firearms to deal with problems, Grim Knight never bothered to train his body our Dark Knight considered necessary to combat crime. He was a normal man, with a high aptitude for guns. Grim Knight was the same Batman, but lacking the physical prowess the Dark Knight worked so diligently to achieve. Thats how his Gordon was able to fight him on even footing.
@@greglott4977 Didn't say Grim couldn't fight. Or never learned to. But Grim Knight's and Dark Knight's training is ENTIRELY different...so, Grim's strong point is firearms. So why not that be a reason for him felling to Gordon?
@@Iamvilletarvonen He is a Batman, which means he has a plan for dealing with something like Doomsday. (He could just let Devastator Batman deal with him.)
The coolest thing about this to me is that Snyder really points out how there are no half measures with Batman. Either he kills no one, or kills everyone. He doesn't use guns, or he exclusively uses guns. Also, Alfred is so freaking METAL.
Of course Grim Knight should never be anywhere as good a fighter as Batman because he never challenged himself and always used weapons. He may be a great fighter for sure but he always immediately used lethal weapons. Batman has gone through so much just to not have to kill someone. Overcoming challenge is what builds skill. Honestly Grim Knight probably became a little lazy compared to our Batman. So im not surprised that Gordon could get the jump on him. He wasnt expecting him and he isnt used to being in a close quarters combat especially after he has been dominating his Gotham for so long. Its not as shocking as some might think. Could Gordon stand a chance against our Batman? Lol hell no.
Exactly and even if he did train the way that the main universe batman did , he doesn't have the same fighting experience . Using guns made him get used to not fighting
If he's as good at fighting with guns as Batman is with his fists it doesn't leave a lot of opportunity to practice his unarmed combat after all. I'm sure he's competent at that but again, guns were his primary method so I can totally see his martial skills suffering from that.
the human body is surprisingly resilient, and it's a lot easier to put someone down with a shot to the brain than it is to know where and how hard to hit someone to incapacitate them without killing them. takes a lot more skill, which is why a gun is so much more accessible means of self defense. not saying they're following real life rules here, but it takes significantly less time to learn how to take someone down with a gun than it does to learn to take someone down in hand to hand combat.

Batman's take on not changing Gotham for the better leads me to think it's time he took on the justice system, don't you think? He's spent his entire career taking these villains down, but if they keep coming back in such short notice, makes you realize where the real problem lies. While I can't see him resorting to guns and killing, I can get behind him inflicting some intense physical damage. He once told a villain, "I can cause you pain you've never felt before." That's the Batman I wanna see!
Just read the whole series and I adored it. Bit confused on one thing though, when the Joker shoots the Bat-Man Who Laughs version of the original Bat-Man, what happens? Does Bat-Man die, is he knocked out for an extended period of time that allowed Alfred to perform surgery on him or did he shoot the Bat-Man Who Laughs serum out of him or something?
joker doesn't kill Batman but while Batman's unconscious, Alfred used a blood sample from the kid version of Bruce Wayne to make an antidote for batman
at 37 min. This is easily explained in several stories, especially the year one arc. In that storyline, Gordon is able to alone, while injured, "do enough damage to keep them out of the hospital" to a squad of corrupt Gotham cops who had earlier beaten him.
I'd like to see an explanation of the exact differences in the universe's that cause the differences. Like , with the "Punisher" batman, what exactly made him pick up the gun after witnessing the murders, because he's the same Bruce but obviously there s a difference.
Just finished reading a few days ago. Incredible story. Only issues I had were regarding the red font used whenever Batman was turning and the unnecessary use of curse words.
"Every universe Jim Gordon is in he is always a morally incorruptible hero." {cough-cough} Gotham by Gaslight would like a word with you, my friend lol.
42:49 I don't know if anyone is going to even read this, but at this part of the story I legitimately cried. I don't know if I'm alone here but to see such a beloved character (Alfred) be hurt so bad makes me really sad too. Like Bruce is his child essentially. The closest family he has ever known and ever WILL know and now that person is telling Alfred that he is useless, that he is only allowed to hang around due to PITY. I mean I am crying just writing this comment I can't handle how painful this is.
@@ThePthompson41 while I agree, it would hit harder if Bruce Wayne said this in the main DC universe, but at the same time it would be hard to write a story where he says that, means it, and Alfred doesn’t already know something is off, and likely something far more mundane than this story. Not saying it can’t be done, rather that the best part of there being a multiverse is that stories like these can exist and have there own weight.
Why Gordon got a hit on Punished-Bat is because, Batman normally uses his body to take down foes meaning peak human conditioning, Punished-Bats uses guns, he does not need to be at his peak human conditioning, he needs his sharpshooting on top aim though. Hence why Punished Gordon can mowdown Punished-Bats. Of course Punished-Bruce does not have a heads up for Gordon knowing his identity, and also Gordon did have prep-time albeit it was a brawl, but he was better prepared compared to Punished-Bats.

Idk, how many times are people going to point this out?
@@stevensanchez1192 it's cool to do it ;) soo a long cool time
121 times
Basically
This is like an audio book for comics. I love it. Lol
Batman Beyond was my introduction to Batman he was all I knew until my dad introduced me to the old movies around like 7
Robbie Ruport shame on your old man for not opening your eyes to the comics
Batman's take on not changing Gotham for the better leads me to think it's time he took on the justice system, don't you think?
He's spent his entire career taking these villains down, but if they keep coming back in such short notice, makes you realize where the real problem lies.
While I can't see him resorting to guns and killing, I can get behind him inflicting some intense physical damage. He once told a villain, "I can cause you pain you've never felt before."
That's the Batman I wanna see!
The Batman who takes on the justice system????? Shut up and take my money!
Great video, you should post a video on how you edit your speech to sound so crispy and clear it's great
Batman Beyond was Bad ASS!! honestly perfect followup to the Batman Animated series.
Thanks for doing a full story video!!
Your channel is a gold mine keep it up
You alone have gotten me,interested in comics, love listening to,your breakdowns, playlist and all.please keep it up man.. PEACE
Thanks for posting full story vids they are easier to watch
Well this just concluded into some Bat sheet crazy mode. God I love this storyline.
“I’ve been coughing up some delicious lung butter” this made my laugh so hard XD sorry rob
Batman who laughs yes!! I appreciate the full story and I get to hear it in its entirety
Thanks Rob✊🏾
I have been away from this Channel for almost two years.... this catch up has been AMAZING!!
Just finished reading a few days ago. Incredible story. Only issues I had were regarding the red font used whenever Batman was turning and the unnecessary use of curse words.
Eric Ochoa I agree with the unnecessary curse words but I like the red font
I also hate when heartless murderers use swear words
It's an amazing character design, the Judge Death creators must be very proud
I wish they would do more with this character , just have to wait till Donnie Cates gets a hold of Batman one day :)
"Every universe Jim Gordon is in he is always a morally incorruptible hero."
{cough-cough} Gotham by Gaslight would like a word with you, my friend lol.
This is a completely nuts title!!! Glad I grabbed this when It dropped
This has gotta be one of my favorite dc comics ever
42:49 I don't know if anyone is going to even read this, but at this part of the story I legitimately cried. I don't know if I'm alone here but to see such a beloved character (Alfred) be hurt so bad makes me really sad too. Like Bruce is his child essentially. The closest family he has ever known and ever WILL know and now that person is telling Alfred that he is useless, that he is only allowed to hang around due to PITY. I mean I am crying just writing this comment I can't handle how painful this is.
I get it. I have felt it in stories before. If it wasn’t a multiverse story called the Batman who laughs, probably would have hit me harder.
Well then it would surprise you to know it's just a story. Man up and work for your life and your loved ones rather than crying like a little b!tch.
I do wonder, why are the various dark knights different heights? Like they are literally all the same person
Diet
Comic logic
Visual language. The different heights are communicating something. Or better stated, the artist is telling you something by drawing the same person differently.
Played at half speed sounds like you are HAMMERED! So great!
When you watch the full thing "it's kind of a cool thing here" gets really repetitive haha good run through though man, enjoyed it!
The Batman who laughs just looks like Judge Death in Batman and his costume.
is there a drinking game for every time rob said hey look.. cause i'm drunk now lol
BATMAN BEYOND IS MY JAM!!!! Y_Y I miss it sooooo much.
52:30 Turns out one of the robins is shazam
