You’re a flight review video genius, Noel. I am amazed about so many things including the scenery, the scene at the airport, the wonders of a remote town, the awe of any city in the world. I’m going to say this with a staunch sense of honesty, I’m blown away. Keep those flight reviews coming.
Moisture off the props is called prop vortices, it's cool, happens in humid conditions and creates a vortice sprial from the engines, looks awesome in photos. Hope you enjoyed your flight on PAL, I love flying PAL! Also, Wabush is in Newfoundland & Labrador, which is a beautiful province if you ever have a chance to visit :)
You got very close to my hometown, it’s further up the coast from YZV. even more remote. Sept iles is the biggest centre in the area. PAL is Newfoundland’s airline and always had a Wabush- YUL route via YZV and YQB. They are recently expanding their route network through Atlantic Canada and Ottawa. Look at them like Canada’s eastern regional airline. Cheers
Great video mate. PAL is a cool little operation, glad you enjoyed your journey with them! A shame that the Air Liaison flight went pear shaped but at least you made it to Québec intime. If your ever in the Ottawa area, check out Bearskin Airlines, they're still operating Metroliners! Oh and Wasaya!
Welcome to Canada, our airline setup for smaller airfields is rant confusing My local, and reasonably large airfield lost passenger service when the only airline cut a bunch of its outstations
Nice to have a to PAL to come to the rescue... see what I did there? They are based in my home province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Also, we love the Dash 8 here in eastern Canada for good reason, it's an old friend to us now.
Noel didn't know the wasp's nest he poked. The two provinces have uneasy relations over cultural differences and mineral resources in the northern Labrador peninsula, and an unresolved border dispute. If Quebec ever gains independence, things tend to become really complicated in that region. Curiously, now Quebec wants to get out of Canada, while Newfoundland was once independent (sort of) but chose to join Canada.
Sorry to hear what happened to your original flight which would've been awesome, because I would've loved to see you fly on a rare Beech 1900! But better luck next time then! The Q300 isn't too special, but better than nothing right?
A nonstop on a nice Dash 8-300 with drinks and snacks as opposed to any 1900D (with stops or not), thats a no brainer, Noel ... you definitely got the best deal there. 1900s are a raunchy, awful plane.
the price is a bit excessive, maybe because of the short notice, but 10 years ago I could fly London to Taipei via HK for that price near enough £450 on Cathy Pacific
And, ugh, I hate the Dash-8. It was bad enough flying it YYGYHX or vice versa, but once, when Air Canada _and_ Northwest were on strike, I had to do YYGYHXYYZBWIDCA on one to return from a visit to my home town to where I worked.
We were close to crossing paths, I went to the Hilton around the same time. The view is very beautiful, mine was on the Parlement de Québec. Outside, the horns can be heard because the employees were on strike at the time. Quebec City is a beautiful city, I have lived there for 12 years
we love our Canadian built planes, not just the Dash-8's, we also love the CRJ's too, also PAL was just a rebrand of Provincial Air out of Newfoundland, also I love how you do try to pronounce some of the names in Québec and butcher them (not offended, just find it funny), btw how do you like Canada, as for easy weather in Canada, yeah naa, never happens, par for the course living in Canada, but easier there in Québec, I live in Halifax Nova Scotia myself (the one typing as this is a group owned channel), out here in Nova Scotia, we get hurricanes and worse weather on the regular, hope you are enjoying Canada, and please enjoy your stay, we love that you are here, and hope you enjoy some Canadian food and culture.
I'm old enough to remember when it was called seven islands, not Sept Iles. You are so right about the terrifying intense weather that can make its way into the gulf. Many was the time of the young boy we would dash to the docks because so many fishermen boats had had to run into the port of setir to avoid very very dangerous hurricane like weather and we're giving away their lobsters and crab and all sorts of shellfish for like pennies.
Hi Noel, I flew from Montreal via Quebec City to Sept Iles. I know you like planes, but in flying back, you missed one of Canada's most amazing trains. The railway from Sept Iles to Schefferville. It is one of the most scenic lines, and the people are very nice. The kind train driver even let me ride on the locomotive. Saw Ospreys, wolves and bears. The train stops at Mai for 1 hour, while the railway staff leave the passengers on the train, while they go for a meal and a break. The train is a mixed train (part freight wagons on the front and part passenger coaches on the rear). You will need to book the only hotel in Schefferville as they only have 20 rooms. After breakfast, you catch the train back to Sept Iles. Recommended you stay overnight in Sept Iles on both the outward and return legs, so you don't miss your flights. The train journey is at least 12 hours each way, if it is running to time. Tshiuetin Railway, which operate the train, have offices in Sept Iles, where you can buy souvenirs. Regards, Vic from London, England.
My dad was part of the development of that line for QNS&L I used to hear about him at work at mile this or that or the other. I grew up in an iron ore haze from the massive volumes of first raw, then pelletized ore bring dumped into Lakers.
@@nicholasmappin3847 WOW ! The QNS&L is a phenomenal railway. 35,000 ton ore trains. The heaviest we have in Britain is the Mendip stone trains that weigh only 2,200 tons. The gradient up from Sept Iles is quite steep too. Trains roll downhill loaded, and are pulled back uphill empty. The Tshiuetin staff were brilliant, and I was offered a ride on the F40 locomotive from Emeril Junction to Esker. It was a good cultural exchange. I was in a group of 11 railwaymen visiting the line from Canada, America, Britain. Germany and the Netherlands. We Brits were amazed to hear the local staff talk of temperatures as low as -63C and 80ft deep snowdrifts. They were equally amazed that some railways in London, England have a train every 45 seconds at 100 mph, and Eurostar travels at 186 mph (a mile every 19 seconds) and some TGVs do 200 mph (a mile every 18 seconds), unlike the AMTRAK Acela that only does 150 mph through one station and averages 70 mph. I really enjoy Canada, and I have visited every province / territory with a passenger railroad, including the Yukon. Indeed, I have travelled on every railroad line in Canada except the route to Churchill, Manitoba (which is still on my Bucket List).
Funnily enough my father and mother emigrated from Slough and had me just as they were finishing their little house in septIles...at my early arrival he was up at Mile 91 or something and they had to send the train back down so so he could be available LOL
Those trains were miles long I think, and had a lot of kinetic energy. Did you see that they had had a Landslide by the Moisieoise and a train went down into the river a few years
Ah, I've stayed in that Hilton in Quebec City. Glad to hear it has reopened after its remodel - it was closed last time I was supposed to go (just before COVID hit).
I remember the last time I was in the airport in Lyon ... there was ONE socket .. in the entire airport .. and I shared it with another passenger, as I actually had a one-to-two splitter :)
I'd be interested in hearing your WORST flight delay/cancellation story. I was caught up in the Southwest debacle a couple weeks ago and after standing in line for 5 hours to get on a different flight, I ended up having to sleep on the floor in the Denver Airport. Couldn't help but wonder if anything similar ever happened to you. I really enjoy your videos. Keep it up!
Whist waiting for our transfer coach pick up for our return journey (spain/bhx) the bus failed to pick us up as it got caught in the festival traffic, had to walk away from the town centre a mile or so to get a taxi, missed our flight to (bhx) was later put on a flight to manchester some eight hours later, < our car was parked at birmingham> explained this and was told a taxi would take us to b¬ham ,of course nobody else knew about it so we had to organise and pay ourselves , the phone lines were very busy the next few days , compensation ,fares refunded and all costs refunded three months later. Sorry UK airports!!

But in a way PAL look good if a tad busy, and some nice refreshments, which considering and got back safely, that paramount.
Hey Noel, you got "Wabush" correct but said "Sept-Isles" and "Quebec" wrong. Don't feel bad, most people outside the US can't pronounce "Los Angeles", especially in the UK - news readers included. And the list goes on. Getting that flight was a stroke of luck, not many would have a spare £340 lying around to take that option. Did you get a refund from Air Liaison? As usual, a great report.
Interesting video Noel, long time since I have been in Sept-Isles. Just a small note, Wabush is in western Labrador, those from the province of Newfoundland and Labrador might not be too happy that you have given it to Quebec. The building of the Quebec North Shore and Labrador (QNS&L) railroad from Sept-Isles to Scheferville, Labrador City and Wabush in the 50's to open up the iron ore mines was quite the story and involved a lot of aviation. Enjoy the videos as always and look forward to your next adventure!
Exactly, Wabush doesnt get an inflection, since its in NL not QC. Great starting point to get to the National Park on the Labrador coast...not now though ;)
I normally enjoy your postings. But this one was a little sad in that you seemed to express so much ‘poor me’! Flights have been rebooked endlessly during Covid, and you’re flying in a rural airport! What can you possibly have expected? A lounge and…?
On my way back from Europe, I was denied boarding from an Austrian airlines flight from Venice to Vienna (I had many layovers) because I wasn’t wearing the appropriate mask. Mind you, the material was solid, it wasn’t like any of those bandanas, but an actual mask. They wanted people to wear N95 ones. I was told to buy one and if I didn’t I would be offloaded. Thankfully five or so minutes later I was provided one, but this was a very scary experience for me to say the least.
Austria had been requiring N95 no-valve masks since about a year or so. It's funny cause once you get to Austria, nobody really seems to care at all. They had pile of masks to give away for free at all the flights I took heading to Vienna recently.
Love your channel👍. PAL is actually originate /headquarter in Newfoundland and Labrador. Wabush is in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. If you have time to reach out to PAL, they are a diversified aviation corporation with diversified aerospace interests. Cheers.! Chris
you weren't denied boarding, you were bumped. Let's not sensationalize the title just to get people to watch. You made it sound like it was COVID related or something. Love your videos, but c'mon...
Bombardier is a Quebec company and highly subsidized by the Provincial and Federal governments. There are probably incentives for the airlines to fly Dash 8s.
Bombardier no longer owns the commercial aircraft manufacturing businesses it once did. The Dash 8 programme is now owned by a company out of BC while the CRJ business is owned by Mitsubishi. The minority stake in the CS Programme/A220 is now held by Airbus.
Pleased to see the changes to the airport for Quebec City! We were stunned by the primitive airport in 2004. We had to carry our bags to the plane, and put them on a trolley which they then pushed onto the plane! 🙄 Oyr Australian home city of less than 500, 000 people had a MUCH more modern airport!

You’re a flight review video genius, Noel. I am amazed about so many things including the scenery, the scene at the airport, the wonders of a remote town, the awe of any city in the world. I’m going to say this with a staunch sense of honesty, I’m blown away. Keep those flight reviews coming.
on the Dash 8300 - You will likely see a lot in Quebec because regional airlines were compelled to buy them from Bombardier.
Noel, been watching for a long time now and honestly, it the best flight vlog channel.

That area of Canada is pretty nice. How you enjoyed it. Quebec city is especially picturesque
Hello there 👋👋,how are you doing today?hope you’re having a good day?
Moisture off the props is called prop vortices, it's cool, happens in humid conditions and creates a vortice sprial from the engines, looks awesome in photos. Hope you enjoyed your flight on PAL, I love flying PAL! Also, Wabush is in Newfoundland & Labrador, which is a beautiful province if you ever have a chance to visit :)
Nice try, we all know it is chem trails. LOL
@@toemblem 😂😂😂😂😂🤪
You're great. Love every single vid. Would love to see you spend a little time in these destinations.
Somehow it's Queebec when it's the province but Quebec City comes out all right. So he can pronounce Quebec after all. Odd that.
Cheers
Canadian city codes make no sense.

Glad you enjoyed it

I drive Bombardier trains, your a braver man than me getting on a plane built by them lol!! Great vid again Noel 👍
Hahaha what’s wrong with Bombardier trains? Here in Sweden the litt. X50 and C20 are good trains 😂
@@jatterhog unfortunately In the U.K. the ones I drive which are the class 379 electrostar and the class 720 are just awful and full of faults!
Welcome to Canada, our airline setup for smaller airfields is rant confusing
My local, and reasonably large airfield lost passenger service when the only airline cut a bunch of its outstations
Nice to have a to PAL to come to the rescue... see what I did there? They are based in my home province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Also, we love the Dash 8 here in eastern Canada for good reason, it's an old friend to us now.
Bombardier Dash 8 is a fantastic airplane!!! Lucky you! Very safe, easy to fly, great all around plane!
You mentioned Wabush was in northern Quebec it’s in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador
@@goytabr That is simply not true. Quebec doesn't want out of Canada. It's a small percentage of people that do. And it's dwindling every year.
Sorry to hear what happened to your original flight which would've been awesome, because I would've loved to see you fly on a rare Beech 1900! But better luck next time then! The Q300 isn't too special, but better than nothing right?
Your love for flying is very true.
Good for little PAL!!! What a FABULOUS hotel room view!. Excellent video Noel. Many thanks.
Quebec City is a beautiful city, I have lived there for 12 years
Noel, how do you fund all this? I do enjoy your videos! Thank you for sharing your adventures!
RUclips ads and donations I imagine
we love our Canadian built planes, not just the Dash-8's, we also love the CRJ's too, also PAL was just a rebrand of Provincial Air out of Newfoundland, also I love how you do try to pronounce some of the names in Québec and butcher them (not offended, just find it funny), btw how do you like Canada, as for easy weather in Canada, yeah naa, never happens, par for the course living in Canada, but easier there in Québec, I live in Halifax Nova Scotia myself (the one typing as this is a group owned channel), out here in Nova Scotia, we get hurricanes and worse weather on the regular, hope you are enjoying Canada, and please enjoy your stay, we love that you are here, and hope you enjoy some Canadian food and culture.
Crj’s aren’t made in Canada anymore
@@Itallianmobboss that's true, but the one that were, we fly and love
His "Baguetteville" was hilarious! ;'D
We flew PAL from Montreal to Gaspe . We got bbq pringles and landed in a blinding snowstorm and 90km winds. She was rough!
I have never been on a flight that has cruised at 16000 ft for that long. That view would be spectacular on a clear day.
Did you see that they had had a Landslide by the Moisieoise and a train went down into the river a few years
@@nicholasmappin3847 I know Slough very well. My wife is from Reading (18 miles from Slough). Slough to Sept Iles is quite a difference ! LOL !
The Bambardier aircraft and former DeHavilland aircraft are very good.

I hope you either have been or had time to go into Old Quebec - it i beautiful.
Ah, I've stayed in that Hilton in Quebec City. Glad to hear it has reopened after its remodel - it was closed last time I was supposed to go (just before COVID hit).

Southwest is one of the few airlines that won't rebook you on another airline when they have a meltdown. One of the many reasons to fly Delta, United or Alaska. Good luck!

I suppose that terminal did look a bit east midlands ish in a way, great shots on the way in Noel, liked the boat one. As to youre operator Air liason have really really let the side down. But in a way PAL look good if a tad busy, and some nice refreshments, which considering and got back safely, that paramount.
Wabush is in Labrador, which is a different province then Quebec.
I was a tad confused when you mentioned PAL, wondered why Philippine Airlines (PAL) were operating in rural Canada.
As someone from Maritime Canada (where the airline is based), I was confused when I first heard of them.
Apparently Canadians love their San Miguels.... (beer brand from the Philippines)
That was weird. I never saw that you were denied boarding.
So - did you in the end get any compensation?
I normally enjoy your postings. But this one was a little sad in that you seemed to express so much ‘poor me’! Flights have been rebooked endlessly during Covid, and you’re flying in a rural airport! What can you possibly have expected? A lounge and…?
I think you drive the passenger sitting next to you nuts as you talk and talk and repeat over and over. LOL

Another great adventure, thanks Noel!
My pleasure!
@@andij605 and they said I had to buy one. Good thing that didn’t end up happening in the end.

Is it called being bumped so it doesn't sound as bad as what it really, being denied your flight..
Excellent point. Our Noel does tend to exaggerate.
Very true
No 5 star service on that airlines lol
Bombardier is a Quebec company and highly subsidized by the Provincial and Federal governments. There are probably incentives for the airlines to fly Dash 8s.
Bombardier no longer owns the commercial aircraft manufacturing businesses it once did. The Dash 8 programme is now owned by a company out of BC while the CRJ business is owned by Mitsubishi. The minority stake in the CS Programme/A220 is now held by Airbus.
Also the DASH-8 are great for short & non-paved runaway.
PAL Airlines is based out of St. John’s, NL. Owned by the Exchange Income Corporation. Been working for them since 2018. They have a big group of companies their main being PAL Aerospace in which they service foreign governments Coast Guard operations and Canadian Gov. Dept. Of Fisheries and Oceans surveillance flights. PAL Airlines operates 1900’s, 100’s, 300’s and as of the last couple years 400’s now too.
Wabush is in Labrador, which is in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, it is not in Quebec.
