Did you notice the weight difference compared to the stock bed?
You do have to take into account if you put too much weld into sheet metal, it will warp the piss out of it.
Personally, I would have stitched it about every 6" with a 1" weld though.
You can also weld it after it cools it just takes a lot longer to manufacture something if you do it that way but it can be done
Down side of the side board supports that have a fall through on the entire perimeter, it's a hazard for dogs; they'll get their legs caught.
The other thing about doing a conversion, I had them lower the bed (got a wide one) for easier loading- and it's pain to get gas in. Learned on a 97 F350... converted to a dually in the process.
The goofy bend in the headache rack gives it more ridged structural strength.
Dodge didnt make crewcabs 'til 03, but you can keep 'em. Todd the retired trucker.

I like the flatbed that has a Fox Shop sticker on it.
Careful putting the fill neck replacement inside the headache rack, let me rephrase......inside the outer upright toward the middle because if you're loaded with somethin you're hooped when you need fuel! My buddy's dad and grandpa had a bunch of 70's ford's with flatbeds we fed and hauled cows with, well the fill necks were cut into the floor of the bed on a couple and when you hauled hay with the fuel mileage on them ol 4 speed gas hogs had you moving hay to be able to fuel up. Like having a flatbed on an obs 7.3...............will NOT take fuel if you don't use a block lol, just part of flatbed life with a Ford I guess lol

im 5 months into the trailer and beds,
there built to produce not to be quality,
im in oregon and seen these problems, their good enough to work new and you can not ignore that you gotta tweak them to be perfect cuz there just not from factory
7:32 that area on my bed is a water trap and it caused water to pool and rust out the deck. My bed is not a cm and it’s 20 years old.

Praedyth The Lost none of that washed every week. 2 months in backboard separates on me no reason 6 months in all the powder coated peeled inside the tool boxes none of the seals work all the led corroded out. Year later 80% of the powder coat is gone. Would be a great bed if they gave a shit about prep work. Wouldn’t warranty it

I would take regular paint over those coatings, once it gets chipped and rust get under it, it spreads and you cant feather sand and repaint, you just keep grinding and finding more rust under it !! It never stops !
@@Curious-Mr.-Lee I have, and regardless of how much prep there is always rust further away under the coating and it will lift.

Ive been looking at these beds for some time but i dont know what size to get for the short box like yours. The dominions on the site all show 8' plus and i am preaty sure thats not right any advice?
84 inch or 7 foot is for shortbox
Remember you won’t have a tailgate to lay down so it gives you the extra foot or two
I had that question. I have a friend and his going to give me his cm bed it's 8ft long and mi truck is 6 ft 11 inch I don't know if that would affect anything do you know if I shouldn't do it?

I watched a couple of your videos about this bed and you keep triggering me with that broken plastic tether that’s hanging off your fuel cap. Cut it off.
