They started the year 19-31. Jobs were in jeopardy. Dave Martinez was in the hot seat. The bullpen was atrocious and injuries were piling up.
But the Nationals stayed in the fight. From that point forward, the Nationals went 74-39, a 106 pace win over a full season. They did the impossible but they were not done just yet.
The Washington Nationals were the comeback team. They played 5 elimination games in the playoffs and faced a deficit in all of them. At one point they had a 13 percent chance to win the wild card game, 12.9 percent chance to win Game 5 against LA, and 13.5 percent chance to win Game 7 of the WS. They beat all of the odds.
Bumpy roads lead to beautiful places.

Most underappreciated WS Champions of all time. The most incredible story in baseball since the 04 Red Sox. Looking back on the season and entire summer is just incredible. Every feeling known to man all jammed into a few months, nothing like it!

The greatest championship run in baseball history. I'm so happy kendrick was the deciding factor for the nats bc I grew up watching him play for the angels, and I always felt he was underrated by the baseball public. Nothing is underrated with him anymore after those two homers and that nlcs

I absolutely love how well this is made, I’ve watched this video so many times. Nats fans have had many rough years, for us it felt like something as incredible as this would only happen in a dream. Heck, I still can’t even wrap my mind around this. Where do I even begin. They either choked in the playoffs every year or missed the playoffs completely. For a while I was really considering giving up on them. When Harper left everybody thought that that was it for the Nationals, they would never win anything without him. I still had hope, because all tho Harper had his good years, there were more bad than good. Not only did he suck, he brought the whole teams morale down, he was an asshole. But with Juan Soto, well he’s the best replacement ever. He’s young, extremely talented, and yeah some people may argue that he’s cocky, but Idc, he really helped bring the team up mentally. But my hope slowly started going away, in the first month when they couldn’t win for shit. Eventually getting to 19-31, just a .1% chance to win the World Series. But then something happened, as if the whole team just changed all of the sudden. Before we knew it, they were winning game after game and just a few games behind first place in the NL East. One of the most important moments in the season in my opinion was Parra hitting the slam against the Dodgers for his first nats hit. He was so important to their success, he’s a fun guy and with the whole baby shark thing he really made the game more fun than ever and I wish him the best of luck in Japan, he will be missed. Then before we know it it’s the playoffs. Wildcard game, the key for the nats winning that game was Yelich being injured, in the 8th inning if Yelich was in right and not Grisham, he probably would of made that play allowing just 1 or 2 runs instead of 3, keeping the game tied, and who knows what might of happened if that was the case. Then it came, the dreaded first rounded. Every Nats fans worst nightmare. Against the Dodgers who were the best team in the NL, everyone excepted a beat down on us. But the nats didn’t just give up, they actually put up a fight. In game 5 if Roberts didn’t put in Kershaw, I can almost guarantee we probably wouldn’t of tied it. But luckily Playoff Kershaw happened and gave us a chance. And then Howie coming up clutch with the slam to put the nail in the coffin and send the nats to their first NLCS. Not much to say about this one, Nats were relentless against the Cardinals showing no mercy, the Pitching was spectacular and the offense came through when it mattered. Then at long last, time for World Series. Most people had said, “Astros in 4” and stuff like that, but I didn’t think that, even if we didn’t win, with how the nats had performed throughout the postseason, I knew they wouldn’t go down without one hell of a fight. I was cheering for them all the way, I had my Max Scherzer jersey on every game and I was cheering as loud as I could. The first two games were awesome, seeing the Astros getting manhandled in front of their home crowd like that. But of course the same thing happened to us at home, but that’s not the point. Then it’s game 6 looks like all hope is lost. The nats blew a 2-0 game lead, and some people may have thought the curse could be coming back. Well the Nats sure didn’t think so, they went in there guns blazin, making things look easy in game 6. Then at long last, the historic game 7. I was feeling a little nervous when we were down 2-0 in the 7th, I was praying for a miracle. Then the baseball gods answered it, Rendon does what he does best and smacks it over the wall. Now only down 1. What AJ Hinch does here may have cost the Astros the game. Gerit Cole is in the bullpen warmed up, but instead he goes to Harris, and what do ya know, two pitches later Howie bangs it off the foul pole. Kinda ironic, the Astros banged trash cans, well Howie got em back by banging foul poles😂then the Nats just kept rolling and soon their just one strike away, and Hudson throws an absolutely beautiful pitch to strike out Brantley, and the game is over. Nationals have won the World Series. This is impressive enough given their tragic past. But there’s so many other factors that make this special. The Nats not only had just a .1% chance to win the World Series, but also a really small chance to even make the playoffs. Their was 5 different points in the postseason where they could have been eliminated, but they came through every time. Not only did they beat one of the toughest teams in the game, they beat a team that cheated. Which is incredible when you think about it. They knew they were cheating and carefully made a plan to switch signs and totally confused the Astros. I couldn’t believe it, I was in total disbelief. We actually did it, we defied all the odds and came together to win. The 2019 Nationals showed what a true team is, they loved each other deeply, and stuck thru the hard times and got through everything that stood in their way. I’m sorry for making this comment so long, but I just really felt like saying this, even tho I’m months late, idc. Even if they never win again, I’m happy I got to see my boys win at least once, I’ll never forget this.

That Parra hit was the first time Nats put fear in Dodgers hearts. And it certainly came to fruition the moment they thought it was safe to come out dancing in the 3rd inning with hip gyrations after HR. If they only knew the nightmare that was about to grip their world !!!

I've never missed a game since 2008 season. Been there for all of Nats ups and downs...mostly downs in post season. This is by far the best depiction of a season I have ever seen encapsulated in a video. Well done.. kudos to whoever made this it truly defines their season from start to finish. I've watched this about 10 times so far. Just bought the Nationals documentary for 2019 world series and was honestly a waste of money. This vid and only this vid defines the Nats. Well done boys.

The amazing part of the '19 Nationals is that they were a franchise known since 2012 for not being clutch, for "choking", for never getting the big hit, the big out, in the most crucial moments. And yet during this playoff run they got clutch hit after clutch hit, pitchers got the outs anytime they needed them, and they faced elimination 5 times and won every time. Talk about flipping the script.
