I still hate the idea of anyone reprising Han Solo. still think this movie is a bad idea, and ONE movie makes me cringe. Would much rather have Obi-Wan or old Republic.

Totally agree with you, I'm still very uncomfortable about the idea and I don't there's any way to overcome it. I don't understand why they couldn't create a new character instead, people would have still gone to see the movie, it's Star Wars. Lack of ambition.

Han Solo is sacred territory. If the script is as good as they say, then I'm sure I will enjoy it. That said I really wish they wouldn't. They could do something else that we would enjoy that didn't step on the very dear feelings and memories we all have for Han Solo as we know him.

for the love of all things holy. there are so many better things to make movie about than a Han solo trilogy: boba fett, starkiller, sifo dyas, obiwan, kanan origin, mandalore, the old republic, republic commando, KNIGHTS OF REN, Skywalker establishing new order, populist v centrist political intrigue, lando, windu. I came up with these in about 30 seconds off the top of my head. they have people that are paid to know canon and could come up with 100 better ideas

I think Disney's gameplan is to use established characters to launch new characters. So this Han Solo movie will introduce you to some new pilot/smuggler/bounty hunter who can then carry his/her own movie. Or they'll introduce you to a new setting (e.g. a secret society or special ops team) that can be explored in greater detail in another spinoff.
Personally, I want to see more genre expansion. I'd love to see a Shane Black-style action-comedy in the SW universe or a contained action-horror like Predator on some distant SW planet.

No matter how much we want an Old Republic movie though, Disney will most likely continue to ignore that request in favor of more original trilogy era stuff. It's a shame. Personally I think some of the best Star Wars stories and characters came from the Old Republic era.

@Domenic Let's not be overly dramatic. Disneys owned Lucasfilm for only 4 years and released just 1 film. Its not like they've put out 20 movies and just announced a Jar Jar binks stand alone, give them time.

Mark Ellis! Very true! No one can write that music or come up with so many themes, huge iconic ones or small little motifs for different characters. How he makes each planet sound different in cases where i's important to the inner most turmoil of certain characters. He never writes stock music, it always has a purpose and always has a direction!

Bodhi, or the Temple of the Arts was one of nine temples of the Je'daii Order located on the southern coast of Masara, a continent on the verdant world of Tython. A two-story structure, the temple at Bodhi served as the Order's academy for the arts, instructing students in the ways of writing, calligraphy, dancing, drawing, sculpture, cooking, music, and theater.
here per the legends of star wars is the meaning of the name of Bodhi

A Han Solo trilogy would be better than an obi wan trilogy. BUT, a single Obi-Wan movie would be better than a Han Solo movie. That being said, I'd rather have 1 of each and then move on to other characters and stories.

Why are they suggesting that Luke's green crystal could have been originally from Qui Gon's saber (about hour mark)? I thought - in Heir to Jedi Luke finds a green light saber in a Rodian's tomb, who was an uncle to his companion. Its strange as they are talking about this book minutes before. Maybe they didnt get to this part - to be fair it was utter garbage.

I imagine the Vader reveal as: Rebels are kicking ass, tide starts to turn and the storm troopers start to retreat. Rebels chasing them, blasters, troopers falling. Shot of storm troopers running across the screen, then down to just their feet and from one side enters Vaders feet and he tip of a red light saber walking the opposite direction, towards the rebels.

That was a great question about if Leia felt Han's death or Ben's descent worse, I never would have thought beyond her feeling Han's death, since that is what we were feeling, but I think I agree that it was the combo, her Husband (who she really does love a lot, even though they were a bit estranged at the time) dying, and it was done by her son, which hurts, and also knowing your child is making such horrible choices is something only a parent could get how devastating that would be. I like Mark2D2's description of 'the effect that the combined events has on the force'

As far as HaydenChristensen goes (and for once I am so glad Campea wasn't on this episode today to shit all over Hayden being in Ep 8 or Ep 9), I say save him for either Ep 8 or Ep 9. And I personally would love to see is the Force Ghost of Anakin Skywalker appear to Kylo Ren a lot more than I would like to see him appear to Luke and/or Rey. I would hope the Force Ghost of Anakin would appear to all three of them to be honest if Hayden is cast in either Ep 8 or Ep 9.
I'd love to see another scene where Kylo Ren is talking to Darth Vader's helmet, asking Vader to show him the Dark Side again & telling Vader he's felt the pull to the Light again. And just as Kylo Ren says he's felt the pull to the Light again, that's when the Force Ghost of Anakin Skywalker appears & tells Kylo Ren that HE was the pull to the Light that Kylo Ren felt. That it was he-his Grandfather-that was trying to get Ben Solo to see the Light again. Have Anakin tell Kylo Ren to stop worshiping his mistakes & go back to the Light like he did.
Like I said, I would like to see the Force Ghost of Anakin Skywalker appear to Luke & Rey, but I'd like to see him appear to Kylo Ren even more. Especially if the reported plot line of Ep 8 turns out to be true. There's a specific point in which Anakin appearing to Kylo Ren would come at the perfect time given what's happened & just how is being held prisoner on Kylo Ren's ship.
I also think that under different direction & a better script, that Hayden Christensen will do a great job too. I am really hoping they've secretly cast Hayden in either Ep 8 or Ep 9. That's the best way to do it too-keep it a secret & have it be a huge surprise in either Ep 8 or Ep 9.

Even though the panel was screened throughout the halls, that particular bit was not shown outside of the main hall hosting the live panel. It is also the smartest time to get Alden to sign on, before he becomes the next big star like Boyega and Ridley are now, because right now he's still thinking "I can't believe I get to play Han!". After that film is huge his agent will be wanting to negotiate the best deal possible. Let's face it, most of us would do it for no money, but once we ARE Han Solo then we re-think "how big should my slice of the pie be?". Then there's the history of Harrison Ford who wanted out while shooting Empire. Not to say he would follow suit but you never really know what all lies in his future and he may not be as jazzed about a third time around down the road.

  • @Vader47000
    @Vader47000 8 лет назад

A story for Luke finding Qui-Gon's crystal is probably not very complex. When Qui-Gon died, Obi-Wan took his lightsaber (and used it to slice up Darth Maul). We already know Luke gets Obi-Wan's journal on Tatooine, and likely used it to build the lightsaber right before Return of the Jedi.
Obi-Wan probably mentions where to find Qui-Gon's saber. Or he had it in his house (less likely, given he probably wouldn't have had it on him when he went into exile. He might have taken it to a Qui-Gon memorial or a Jedi temple, and we know Luke was looking for Jedi temples, so ...)

I want the final fight to be the rebels trying to get the plans to the tantive iv or whatever on scarif, where they manage to gain an upper hand before vader comes in his tie fighter, perhaps with a couple other guys, they blow most of the x-wings out of the sky and then Darth vader lands (or jumps out of his tie as it's still flying) and cuts down a load of rebels for about a minute, after thirty seconds or so, a load of stormtroopers continue to flood the rebels, forcing them back further. And there they all start dying slowly, each individually sacrificing themselves to buy some more time in order to safely get the plan to leia and antilles, maybe Saw (if there) has a brief fight with Vader dying to the one who trained him.

It'd be Obi Wan for sure. So much time passed from the extinction of the Jedi to a New Hope and they can go to different worlds and make it smaller more contained and go in many different directions with it. Han was young when we meet him, we see his entire journey right to the end his arc is complete.

  • @KaylaMarie_

I really think the main reason people want an obi Wan movie is because he's the only main character from the prequels that can come back and give us something better. we didn't get any of Ben kenobi on adventures in the original and the prequels were a dissapointment so we're really wanting a redo.

+Bruno Bernier The only thing that would be tough is working around his marvel films. Though he's not a main character, who knows why not - I think his character is one of the more complex of the MCU, the filming for the marvel films and star wars films would have to be planned perfectly, depending on how much focus future marvel films will have on the winter soldier/bucky Barnes. One of the reasons I think there hasn't been a winter soldier film is because he is too dark for what the MCU is selling right now. Even natasha's story has been watered down. Makes me a little sad that these comic book movies won't be made more for adult audiences with more intense themes. A darker winter soldier or black widow movie would be awesome. OK, tangent over now.

    • @budspencer11

Hey, great show! Keep up great work! Luke got Qui-Gon's crystal from Qui-Gons lightsaber that Obi Wan kept from Episode I and had stashed at his home on Tatooien. Luke got back and revisits after Empire. Saw that theory on one of the other Star Wars You Tube channels. I like the Theory. hope they make it cannon

By the new canon and the old for me post OT I have to say (again just IMO) Timothy Zahn. The man is responsible for one of my favorite book trilogies and he may not of kicked off the EU but he perfected it and without him who knows if it would ever have been so big of a thing. He really kept Star Wars alive post OT. I mean how sweet would it have been to see movies of these if they could have done them at the time? All that said love the new stuff and i am going crazy waiting for Rebels and Rogue One.

is it not true that kyber crystals in new cannon are clear and the color is determined by the force of the user connected to it. In theory as a jedi or sith progress through their connection with the force the color of the saber could change from blue to green even to red to reflect their connection without having to change crystals. also would Obi-Wan used Jinns Saber to defeat maul in episode 1. stands to reason he kept it in his chest on tatooine and Luke found it just before episode 6 while looking for components for his new saber??

I think they need to move to Old Republic, they need to take chances rather than expanding on already known characters imo. Even though more than one young Han Solo film interests me more than an older Obi Wan trilogy.

Isn't it routine for Disney to do multi-movie contracts with actors if they see potential with them? For all we know, this could just be a cameo in a Boba Fett movie, or a Marvel movie, or another live-action adaptation of a Disney animated movie. Sometimes Disney doesn't even use the other movies in actors' contracts. Don't blow things out of proportion just yet.

Minor point but if I remember correctly Chris Evans did the cameo in Thor as a favor and wasn't part of his multi-picture deal. My hope for the Han Solo movie is that the it ends with Han getting a face change to hide from Jabba and they CG his new look as young Harrison Ford... and maybe Greedo finding out.

Damn, am I the only one who really enjoyed Heir to the Jedi? Young Luke is annoying, but it was interesting seeing his development as a person, a student of the force and as a pilot. His relationship with Nakari was enjoyable, as well. It was a little slow in the middle, I'll give you that...

I do not like the idea of a Han Solo trilogy. First, where will this one take place in the timeline? By the time we get to the second and third, how close will be to when he meets Obi Wan and Luke? And by that time, how old will Alden look? I think Obi Wan would be a better choice because there is so much time that passed that he could easily have had adventures on Tatooine or another planet. Since he lives so far out something could happen there and Luke would never know. I agree with Kristian and I would like to see them expand the universe. If they happen to use Alden in some other movie that doesn't necessarily focus all on him I think that would be a little better.

I also wouldn't care for a trilogy based on Han or Obiwan. That said if I had to choose I would say Kenobi has, I think, a greater, richer history to cover. I don't know how you could fill three films with some smuggling, space-racing, and various scoundreling, but it would be fun for one movie or perhaps another TV series.

  • @IHazzABucket

I think for me, I would really like to see the Sequel trilogy end on a happy but uncertain note. Like say, the First Order is defeated and the Jedi are back for good this time. But Snoke and his new Sith/dark Jedi are still in the picture (whether that's Kylo and the Knights of Ren, idk) and on the rise, now they're just transitioning to phase two. Or maybe Plan B.
I would also much prefer Rey developing into a more neutral Grey Jedi kind of figure. I really hope we see her struggle with the Dark Side in Ep 8 and I feel like we will, but instead of going full-on Sith, I would like to see her reject both Jedi and Sith ideals and end Ep 9 on an uncertain path, with her relationships with her friends somewhat in shambles, where nobody knows where she's gonna end up. And then some other new prominent Jedi Knight (Finn??) could take leadership over the new Jedi Order and start laying the foundations.
Perhaps not that specific, but you get what I mean. I'd love to see more of a third Grey Jedi-like faction and I would love to see Rey develop into a more neutral and uncertain kind of character role than straight up Sith or Jedi. That leaves a lot of potential and a lot of ground to cover for the next trilogy, or hell, the next /two/ trilogies, if they play their cards right.

I think the comics/books are loose canon at best. They'll never have a major plot point impact onto one of the movies due to potential alienation of the general viewer. Love the books but think their weight in canon is overvalued. It's like they are there if you want to know more but in the end none of it will be that impactful.

Modern day, most important to Star Wars, yeah, Bob Iger or Kathleen Kennedy are high up there, with JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson being close behind. I would also look to people from the past like Ralph McQuarie or Lawrence Kasdan, or maybe John Williams. I would take nominations from the section in How Star Wars Conquered the Universe where he describes the first reel, and how many influences outside of George there are in that opening 10 minutes of A New Hope

With Luke's Light Saber Crystal, wasn't it actually an artificial crystal he took from Obi-wans hut. I think this was in the novel as well as a deleted scene from the movie.
However, didn't they just change canon so that each crystal now is colorless until a Jedi sets that color into the crystal, and it is always that color afterwards. Not 100% on that.
    As Always enjoyed the show.

What I don't like, is that they have the same type of armies in this new trilogy. I was expecting a whole new type of armies on both the good and the bad sides. In Episodes I to III we got clones and droids, Episodes IV to VI we got stormtroopers and rebels and we basically got those again in the new trilogy, just slightly updated. I wanted to see whole new types of armies, so I really hope they don't keep the stormtroopers or rebel-type looking people in Episodes 10 to 12.

Disney shouldn't waste their time on a whole new trilogy where the primary focus is Han Solo.
What I think they should do is make another Rogue One esk film that takes place between episodes 4 and 5, and have the new Han involved that way. How'd be become a general, what was his command style like, did he ever personally run a fleet or base? That kind of stuff I could see, where he isn't the focus but he is involved in another film.
But no, I don't want to see Han Solo the movies, episodes 1, 2 and 3.
