I totally agree with your stance on live scope. In my teens I lived in Dogpatch AR and fished Bull Shoals and Arkansas River I now live in California fish Oroville, Folsom, rivers....thanks for the channel!!!

Great tournament by Steve Kennedy
Sure glad I listen to you guys. I told Matt a while back I had never fished a swim jig in my 55 years of bassing because I fish mostly mossy farm ponds and I didn't think they were appropriate. I've probably caught the majority of my bass this season on swim jigs, including last night when I got a 2, two 3's, two 5's, and a 6 1/2. Black and purple jig with a black and blue fleck creature hawg trailer. Thanks, you guys probably saved my season!

I just finished as a marshal the last two days at Smith Lake. All the fish caught by my two anglers were via Livescope. My angler the first day made it clear that he hates fishing this way but he also acknowledges he has a family to take care of and to be competitive, he feels almost forced to use it. The second angler was very good with it and just sees it as a tool until something changes.
Using fish as fodder for money competitions seems unethical to start with.

In the Europe Perch Pro series that is airing on RUclips they have a rule that live scoping is only allowed for finding structure and fish bit once casting commences it must be switched off or paused. Seems a compromise that could work in bass tournaments?
I've been on the water as a marshall the last 2 days. It's nuts man, sad to see the pros I was with basically be forced to play that game just to survive. It's painful man. 15 boats in 100ft of water just wondering around like zombies.
Man that totally sucks and any fish u bring up from those depths is going to die in a few days from Benz.
Who would have known there were bass out in 100' of water? I guess where there is water, there is the possibility for bass.
@jaym8257 it's wild man. Some of the fish were in as much as 170ft. Of course they are catching them in the top 20 ft of the water column but it's wild they are in that deep of water

I totally agree with stopping the spotlighting fish ! I won a lot of local tournaments without that junk years ago. I am now too old to fish much for bass, but I do fish for crappie and in the last 3-4 years that bite has almost gone... I hope all the states cuts the limit to 10 per day! I had a great time fishing and have caught 6 bass over 10 pounds, 2 were over 11pounds! I will not even watch bass or crappie fishing if the angler is using forward facing sonar................Period.
This is one of the tougher to learn to fish clear water lakes. It takes some learning for seasoned pros most of the time to do well on this lake. The hands down favorite to do well on this lake was in 50th on day one Gerald Swindle. He grew up fishing this lake and he and Aaron Martins took our money on night tournaments in the summer several times. These FFS guys would not stand a chance on this lake, it does not fish like Table Rock, Lake of the Ozarks.
Randy, I watched Bassmaster's this morning. An interesting comment was made by an angler that he had to timed the hook set based on what the screen showed him rather than the bite of the fish. Truly a video game.

I noticed several of them actually setting the hook as the fish on the cheater box met the bait...I just assumed there was some kind of delay in the live feed, but maybe they are actually setting the hook just before the fish gets it😂
Might as well put some bass in a glass tank and let the guys fish for them that way. He, you still have to catch them!

Randy, I agree with your views on livescope and how it essentially spotlighting for fishing, however I wandering if the bigger threat to our fisheries is RUclips. Let me explain:
Guys like you who cut their teeth far before the internet was readily available spent a lifetime accruing knowledge about techniques and spots, and how to fish different weather conditions. That said, in the last few years I've taken advice from your channel and others (Richard Gene for crappie) and I've improved my success on Beaver and table rock 10 fold.
My question to you is whether you think the detailed information about how and where to fish is as big of a threat as livescope? I'm thankful yall are putting information publicly on certain techniques because I've been able to fish with stuff like jigs, and shakey heads thanks to things I've learned from your channel.

Randy, i know there was a no FFS tournament a month or so ago that had rave reviews. i know your stance that BASS is the true professional circuit, however with all of your knowledge and contacts why isnt anyone out there fighting back and just creating a new league that outlaws FFS, and instills common sense rules so that myself and many others can enjoy watching a true fishing tournament every now and then. i have completely boycotted MLF and the Elites due to FFS (CHEATING) !!!

Just for the record I agree with the FFS argument. Not using the word spotlighting, need a better word. Perhaps highlighting or something. Remember spotlighting deer is illegal, FFS is not illegal yet. Not sure you all have seen the midafternoon Bassmaster update. Steve Kennedy is NOT using FFS and just took the lead. He is however, using a bait he painted himself to look like a largemouth bass. I know lots of guys are using it from the videos I have seen, but Kennedy is on a roll finding wolf pack spots up shallow.

Won't ever be illegal. But it might be against the rules someday. I have it in my boat. I have a hard time thinking I'll be give a citation for having it. I don't tournament fish. Starts too early in the morning.

The funny thing is, the same companies that are paying BM/MLF right now to allow livescope, will ultimately decide to stop funding them once the viewership drops enough to not justify spending the money to the leagues. Then and only then will we return to pre livescope BM/MLF.

This coming from a dude that has 6 graphs and 5 transducers on his boat 😂 there's several that are competitive that don't have graphs at all. John cox is in the top 10 damn near every week and fishes out of an aluminum John boat with Gen 1 depth finders. Tyler Williams finished 3rd with no live scope flipping a jig. Sounds like a jealousy thing. I'm in the top 10 in open eqs right now with no livescope brother. Jealousy ain't a good look.

Its crazy, ive been into bassmasters since the early 90s..... i cant even watchthis shit. Fucking 3 dudes back to back on the broadcast, not taking their eyes off a screen..... not even casting. Holding his rod in the water driving the boat just watching a screen
When I got back into the sport as an adult fews year ago I set out to learn how to bass fish with intuition, and skill. I want to tournament fish, and am working to2ards getting a boat for it but I refuse to go any further with electronics then side scanning. Livescope is boring to watch. Seemingly takes out skill of the equation, along with y3ars of hard work to learn bass behavior. I don't believe what we c9nsider professionals should be allowed to use this junk during tournaments.

@@lancefontenot9448 well locally we have some clubs. I want to get back into the bassmasters club here, but I just need a decent boat. My little 25hp 17' tin boat just isn't going to handle the rough waters or keep up. I haven't found any Tuesday nighter clubs locally yet

Same old same old ... FFS is never going away any more than GPS electronic mapping or power poles. Tournament fishing is but a tiny fraction of bass fishing ... ban it keep it it doesn't matter. It's here to stay for recreational fisherman just like every other electronic innovation. A rigs continue to catch tons of bass even though tournaments have banned them. Here in Florida golden shiners accounts for literally hundreds of bass a day, every day on some lakes yet I don't hear Randy saying we need to ban live bait fishing for bass. Why not? I know for a fact shiners account for 90% of the bass caught over 5lbs on my home waters and FFS accounts for about 1%. Why no outcry over that?

Steve kennedy isnt a pro now LOL and Jordan lee thats insane. Jordan has won back to back classics without it but hes not a pro now. Steve kennedy is a legend in the sport fordecades and stuck some good ones throwing a glide bait but also has used ffs.

I think the problem you have Randy is, you are not understanding all aspects of what is happening in fishing. Also you’re closed to understanding that. To come to solutions, you must be open to what is actually happening. Once high school and college became a path to professional fishing, it changed the industry forever. High school and college kids have new boats that their parents buy, most, not all and they become very successful with RUclips and Google Earth and technology. You cannot stop or change that by picking out spotlighting as the demise of Fishing. You must look at the bigger picture to find solutions.
So now anybody that has live scope is on the DARK side. Please explain what the DARK side is. I hope you are not labeling fellow bass fishermen in a negative way just because they have a different opinion from yours. If you are labeling them you need to stop acting like a child.

Be careful what you ask for. All this is is more FFS drama. If FFS is banned, you will have most weekend fisherman using FFS catching
more fish than BASS Pros, who will only catching 3 to 5 fish per tournament day. How boring will that be watching 8 hours to see 3 fish. With that, ratings will drop in BASS television and all sponsors will pull out. Why would young anglers catching 40 fish a day watch a pro catch 3 fish a day. All fishing would suffer with divided tournaments. FFS will never be taken away, that decision has been made years ago. Your drama, creating some FFS crisis every tournament weekend, and refusing to live in the real fishing world will divide the sport more and only be detrimental....your living in the past and professional fishing has past you by.

Wow, so now you are picturing and attacking PROFESSIONAL anglers who are obeying the rules and taking advantage of currently legal technology to feed their families. If you want to attack the organizations and push for change then you do your thing, but to attack anglers that are out there doing everything they can to compete is absolute garbage. As somebody that at one time was a very competitive angler, I would think you would know better. They’re fighting for a check by catching fish while you fight for a check by trolling clicks. I’m really curious as to what you would do in their position. Would you just give up and finish 80th?
