Hi! Great info! My son will be attending LU next week and was interested in an apartment in Midtown Lofts on Fort Street. According to your map, this location may not be the safest? Thoughts? Thanks.

Hey…thanks for watching and reaching out.
I do have thoughts. 😉 I would highly suggest driving the neighborhood, both during the day and night, to get a sense of the area.
Everyone has different preferences and comfort levels. The area you’re referring to is about 2 miles East of the Fort Hill neighborhood area. (I’ll be doing a video on Fort Hill soon.) I find Fort Hill to be a decent area and almost bought an investment property there. But…a lot can change in a mile or two.
Feel free to email or call me if I can be of further assistance.

Do you suggest the same thing for the lofts on 12th street "Midtown on 12th?" Also, I'm wondering if the building is mostly occupied by students. Hopefully the property management can disclose as I am in my 40's and not looking for a rowdy crowd. @@Living-In-Lynchburg-Virginia

I always think it’s a good idea to drive neighborhoods and streets. But…I think for these inside apartments / condos…you man’s a great point about talking with the management of the building.
Of course, you’re counting on them being honest. 😉 But you could ask if they get a lot of complaints from residents…what’s the best thing about living here?…what’s the biggest problem or concern?
If you’re comfortable with it, I think catching people coming in and out asking if they live there…and telling them you’re thinking of moving in…you can get some inside info.

Thank you and true about the honesty. They manage apartments at Cornerstone as well. There are beautiful one bedroom appartments there for less than some of these lofts. I was told that they take the section 8 voucher, but sadly found out later that they don't.

How did you get the map of homicides and sexual assault from the Lynchburg PD? Thank you!

I contacted the public information office. As you can see, they don’t give you exact locations, but just general areas.

Makes me wonder if the homicides might have been trespassers being shot.I know people can defend their property in Virginia unlike other states.Low crime rate in Lynchburg though which is fantastic.I think it’s like anywhere else, just be smart and stay away from ghetto areas.Always good to know where they are at in each city.

What I didnt like about Lynchburg was how big the jail was for that so called small city I mean that mofo is huge….. Im assuming half 2/3 of the city locked up so I really don’t believe the stats they may put out about Lynchburg. Then I noticed the LPD was one aggressive 👮 force. I mean I came away with the thought that this place is wayyyyy more dangerous than it claimed to be an the only reason the crime maybe low is because everyone is locked up.
