Thanks, JD for spending the weekend showing us properties. After a long drive to VA, we were tired & stressed but after finally meeting you in person, we were put at ease & appreciated your professionalism & friendliness. Plus, you went above & beyond, making every moment count! Looking forward to tapping in to your experience & expertise during our ongoing house search. You rock!! Mary & Anthony C
I grew up in Lynchburg and would leave for military service, come back for a year, move to Norfolk, live and work there for 31 years, and move back to Lynchburg in January 2018 after retiring from working for Norfolk. I am well aware of the cons mentioned and one of them I like. Still there is much happening in Lynchburg and it excites me and that did play a role in moving back to Lynchburg.
It’s great you’re back! Yes... there is always some good and bad (or maybe not-so-good) anywhere you live. I think Lynchburg is a great place to live. Enjoy your retirement!
I truly hate the way the state of VA an city council has ignored Lynchburg. Changing the name to something hip an powerful an thought provoking would boost up the city’s appeal. Getting younger ppl on city council who dont have a racist, religious or Lgqbt agenda would work….. Open books to follow the money the city spends no private sectors…. I honestly would like to know how tf did the LPD get approved for $50 MILLION to build a new headquarter when cop city in Atl cost $67 Million an its 50X bigger than the one in Lynchburg. Also the laws as far as building permits need to change, people say Lynchburg is not a major city true but its not a very small city contrary to popular belief you can really shake something out there with the proper infrastructure developed. Also contrary to popular belief that city has enough colleges to bring out a thriving community of youngsters. It can become a very walkable city with a few modifications. The police need to adopt a new policy when handling the citizens I get confused out there I looked at the crime stats an it doesn’t seem like the city is bad I go past the jail an say damn this is a big azzz jail for a area, I see the teens are on a curfew an see the police are very aggressive so Im confused is the place a mini gotham city 🏙️ or what. Im amazed no clubs no entertainment nothing cultural for the Blacks in the area who spurned so great icons from there; it seems to me someone has a vendetta against the area an wants to watch it die a slow miserable death then see it replaced so that makes me skeptical about city board members and council. Lynchburg could be a small business megaplex overnight but Im pretty sure the city would not include any prominent Blacks from the community into the mix an will probably find endless ways to harass the proprietor if they did. Their could be clubs on the white side of town an on the black side overnight but that fuq city will not make laws to allow them to thrive matter fact it seems the city would do everything in they power to see them get shutdown; evil weirdo shii. So what you have a fight a shootout etc its not the owner fault people dont know how to behave the owner didn’t raise them, if people still want to go to those establishments they have a right to choose if people complain I suggest build a designated area just for social events far disconnected from any whining azz semi retardarded neighbors complaining because their cats cant sleep. Lynchburg is a city on life support I met one of the realest person ever from there man I could go on an on on how the city could change for the better, but I am going to be brutally honest the yt bars an clubs would be cool but if yall focus on building the Black community an Black culture Lynchburg would take off like a rocket ship 🚀 an pull in so much revenue it would be insane.
After living in Ohio 25 years, Lynchburg is my speed now......😂. I'm actually from Richmond, Va. Stumbled across this channel. So cool. Just relocated last month because I just want slow and outdoors life. New subscriber. I am looking at properties to buy. Got a person I connected with, but I will definitely ask you a few questions about helping veterans.
I know you said "New release' movie theaters but Lynchburg has 2 movie theater. Venue Cinemas is also here and shows discounted movies for $2 and $3 per ticket.
Where is the Costco on Ward's road? I must have missed it. 😁 I was born and raised here. Love it. We even welcome good people from Pennsylvania! We moved to Pensacola FL for 3 years and decided to move back to Bedford. Not having an interstate is a good thing. You can have the big city life and all the trouble and hassles it brings. Great job on the video though!
Yeah. Yeah. I know. They’re building the Costco! (Not really.) I’ve spoken to a few people from (insert anywhere here) who say they came back here or stayed…because they liked the feel of the place so much. Thanks for watching!
My family history is rooted in Lynchburg. I've only visited once, for a family reunion and that was over 20 years ago. I remember that I flew there (from NYC), Can't recall if I took connecting flights. Didn't see much either. Just the hotel I was staying in, the venue the family used and one cousin's house. Thanks for sharing this information.
There sure are hotels and a few motels. The "cheapness" may depend on when you are coming. When certain events are happening at the colleges around town, especially Liberty University (just due to it's size), the room availability can decrease...and rates increase.
Campbell County is higher for taxes than Lynchburg?! As a resident I've always heard people complain about the taxes here and how they wish they were more like the areas around us. I thought Campbell County were much lower.
Campbell county is lower. Lynchburg City real estate tax = $0.89 per $100 value. Campbell County = $0.45 per $100 value. Lynchburg City Property tax (like your car) = $3.80 per $100 value. Campbell County is $4.11 on the books…but they only use 50% of the value, so effectively it is $2.06
@@Living-In-Lynchburg-Virginia Ah, just PPT then and only "officially", makes more sense now. I've always heard people talk favorably about CC for taxes. Lynchburg just jacked our taxes up this year by majorly increasing our appraised values. Somehow my house suddenly became worth $30,000 more and they claimed it was due to the price of wood being more expensive due to supply chain shortages. But my "favorite" grift is the trash pickup fee. Instead of a $45 annual decal they claimed tacking on a $10/month charge on our water bill was "more convenient" than having to go purchase a decal. Yeah, more convenient for them to get 2.7X the original fee, and change it to mandatory. Previously if you didn't want city pickup you just didn't buy the decal. Now you are forced to pay the fee regardless. Take your trash yourself? Someone else picks it up for you? Doesn't matter, they demand that $10/month fee and will not remove it regardless of the situation.
hey a fellow Virginian its nice to see people that live in the different parts of Virginia i was born in abinagdon va but live in bristol va most of my life and explored a large part of va nc and tn but hi and keep up with the good work my man
That’s great! Lots of diversity in terms of lifestyle and what you want in living, all throughout Virginia. We are definitely enjoying the Hill City and Lynchburg area.
29 is essentially an interstate but 460 and 501 not so much haha. Pro tip for anyone looking for a faster route to 81 or 64: its only about 35-40 minutes to get to 81 and 50 minutes to 64 of you head towards Lexington. Enjoyed the video.
29 an Interstate? Not like any Interstate I know of. A short strip of the bypass in Amherst, maybe, but the rest...no way. Nut I'm glad Lynchburg isn't close to the Interstate.
Well…That’s a much bigger place! That’s the city! 😉 Have you found that it’s a good fit for you there? (I’ve only been once. Went a basketball game at Rice University.)
So I’m currently in Lancaster, PA. And I absolutely love it here, but I’m looking for a more rural area that I can eventually get a good amount of land and homestead which financially Would be difficult in PA as it’s very expensive. You living in PA before, how would you compare and would you recommend? I’m mainly worried about crime?
I know Lancaster well. Lived very close by a good amount of time. I wouldn’t be concerned about the crime in Lynchburg. If you watch the video I did on crime, it may help you get a sense of things here. But…you do have to be cautious anywhere you are. I think Lynchburg is a pretty safe place. As you get out into the country areas…even safer. I’d be happy to talk with you about the area. I think it’s a great place to have on your list of possible moves. 😉
@@Living-In-Lynchburg-Virginia Thank you so much, and I will be watching your other videos as well. I stumbled upon your videos just a day ago, by the way, awesome content so I definitely appreciate your insight being from the same place as well. I absolutely love it in Lancaster and I honestly wanted a homestead here, but unfortunately it’s expensive and getting out of hand. I currently go to Liberty online, and I considered Lynchburg as one of the areas and some other mountain areas, WV, Wyoming, Texas to state a few. I would love to contact you for better home town insight about everyday life there. And I thank you again for responding!
I lived in Lynchburg for over 30 years. Lynchburg has a high rate of poverty and crime. Hello Lynchburg and surrounding area have good to excellent colleges. The majority of residents in Lynchburg do not have a college education. I would recommend living elsewhere other than Lynchburg area
I'm a vet on disability, looking at land 9 miles northeast of Lynchburg. How is the VA there do you know? It seems the cost of living is cheaper the alot of places. My vehicle is a 66 Ford f100, can't imagine the taxes being too outrageously high lol.
First…thank you for your service! Cost of living is pretty good. And you should be ok with your truck. 😉 The main VA med center is in Salem. But there’s a clinic here. Check out the link if you haven’t already. (Sorry, I can’t tell you how good it is.) Let me know if I can help you with the land. Thanks for watching! www.va.gov/salem-health-care/locations/
@@Living-In-Lynchburg-Virginia I will call you tomorrow, it'll be a 507 number. I'm looking for somewhat remote land more off grid with no building restrictions I can put a cabin on.
Thanks for your service my husband is a veteran also we live in naruna Virginia which is about 30 minute ride to Lynchburg Virginia .they have a small veterans clinic in Lynchburg Virginia. But the main place where you got to go is Salem Virginia for us it's about two and a half to the our rides depending on traffic so from Lynchburg to Salem depending on what area you're in to do you take a half hour off of that depending on traffic so maybe from Lynchburg to Salem at be a 2-hour ride.
Went to college and lived there from '73 to '85 and really love the area. Considering moving back because I still miss those Blue Ridge mountains. Friends there have a house off Boonesboro Rd and they have a great view of the Peaks of Otter.
One promotion I like to make of Lynchburg is the Mel Gibson movie Hacksaw Ridge. Desmond Doss born and raised in Lynchburg is the subject of the movie and he is played by Andrew Garfield (Spider Man). Check it out!
I used to have a sales job that took me all around the state of Virginia which I think gave me a pretty good idea of the different cities and towns. After doing that for a couple years I actually made a list of the places I would consider living. Keep in mind this was about 15 years ago. Lynchburg was not one of my favorite cities in fact it didn't even crack the top ten if I remember right. I know things have improved with the growth of Liberty University so hopefully it would do better on some ones list today. Back then there was a lot of poverty and the job outlook for people was not good at all. Everything was looking run down and just felt depressing to me. I did like the Bedford area a little better but that was because of Smith Mountain Lake. Anyway sounds like things are looking up and I would bet property would be a little cheaper than say Charlottesville which isn't that far away. I also remember Danville was near the bottom of the list just above Newport News and Hampton.
Mark P. …I think you’re spot on. I’ve lived here for three years. But visited fairly regularly within the past eight years or so. I absolutely think the area could be better on the poverty side. But I do think there has been growth and some revitalization efforts. And true…the Charlottesville area is more expensive to buy right now, in comparable areas. I’ve had some clients who are moving to Lynchburg for specific reasons; school or work. And some who just like the area. There are lots of different options relatively close, like SML…Bedford…Wintergreen…or the good old Hill City itself. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Not very familiar with Farmville. Visited numerous times. I have helped clients in that area. But I’m not intimately familiar with the area. When I get too far outside of Lynchburg (or Wintergreen resort) I tell potential clients “I can absolutely competently represent you in the purchase of a house. But…if you’re looking for someone who knows the ins and outs of a community I’m not very familiar with, we might want to connect you with a different agent.”
Lynchburg is a pretty fairly safe (compared to big city areas) town but it’s a type of place that one would move to if they’re looking for a cheaper, fairly safe area to raise their family. I wouldn’t recommend moving to Lynchburg if you’re young and up and coming because based on my experiences if you’re not the type of person who’s a part of the old money conservative crowd or in to drug abuse like I see a lot of (young) people into it’s hard trying to meet people and find things to do. In fact I tend to go out of town a lot, the last decade or so, because I literally got tired of going to work and coming home and repeating the cycle. The only reason I’m still here is because of immediate family but if it wasn’t for that I think I would eventually move out of town since funny enough I’ve made friends and have been more entertained out of town than here in Lynchburg.
You’re right! It’s not “big city” with as much to do, for sure. But I’m grateful it’s generally safe. I totally get your assessment. Makes sense. Now, if you own a place here, you’re in a good spot whenever you do move on. You can sell it. Or, the rental market is pretty strong, if you want to hold onto it. Thanks for watching and commenting. Happy 2023!
Smith mountain lake is a little over 500 miles of shore line and does not go all the way to North Carolina that is Kerr lake everyone calls it buggs Island
I have lived in Lynchburg with my Dad in 08 to '11 then came back in '14 (Was in Charlottesville '11 to '14). My dad did pass last year so I have moved :( I really do miss Lynchburg. It seemed like a nice laid back town which I like. I am not really a city girl. Like I like something in the middle of country and city. I know I hated it at times but really looking back, it was fine. My dad and I would go through a slice of WV and into PA to get to family in SE PA :) Wanted to avoid DC :)
Sorry to hear about your dad. Glad you have some found memories of Lynchburg. We usually do have a mix of feelings about any place we live. And I understand about likeing the "middle".
@@Living-In-Lynchburg-Virginia You're Welcome and I'm in Southern Maryland. It's medium paced but not as bad as DC. I hate going into DC NOW. TOOOOOO MUCH!
For SNOW, we have SNOW FLEX. ON CANDLERS MOUNTAIN ROAD. ACROSS FROM LIBERTY UNIVERSITY. OPEN YEAR AROUND SNOW SKIING, SNOW BOARDING, AND SNOW TUBING. INVENTED BY A BRITISH ENGINEER.
I came to Lynchburg from Austin, TX and LOVE it! I was told that a funny about Lynchburg is that Jerry Falwell (love him or hate him) was known to say that you can't stumble on Lynchburg: you have to KNOW you are headed here to even find it.
Lynchburg, the Hill City. I have friends and family in the "burg". I believe the reason most people like living there is because it's not a large city and no interstate. Lynchburg is like most cities, there's places and neighborhoods to stay away from. Lynchburg does have 4 parks. I used to live there and I would live there again.
Absolutely right, Nick. I met with clients who want the small town vibe…and outdoor activities and access to some larger areas within a relatively short drive.
@@Living-In-Lynchburg-Virginia I just found your channel and I liked and subbed. I'm not sure what type of restaurants Lynchburg has now. Are there any sushi, or would you have to drive to Roanoke or whatever?
@@nickhill8612 You can get sushi here! I often grab some at Kroger! 😀I'm guessing you main mean something more "serious". I'm not a true sushi guy, so I don't really know what is good. But...we have Aji Ramen and Sushi. (I've had the general tsos chicken there. It was very good.)
Good question. There some tax breaks for individuals of certain ages. Here’s a link that might help. www.tax.virginia.gov/news/virginia-taxes-and-your-retirement
The very first year that I moved into Virginia was getting that tax bill personal property tax on a car but you have to pay every year. I was like you got to be kidding me I never heard of a personal property tax until I moved into Virginia.
You are so right! I moved to Lynchburg in May 2021 and it really isnt much too do here but the cost of living is right. I come from Northern VA where its way more action there.
I use to see a lovely lady from Lynchburg..Use to fly in on a puddle jumper..Many many fond memories of that city. People were nice..Id like to revisit it someday
Hi, Rick. I don’t much at all about Westminster Canterbury. It is very similar to a senior living community my parents live in, in Pennsylvania. But I don’t have details for you. I DO love that location and area!
One thing that's important to us while we're searching for a place to move to in Va, is an "Emergency Animal Hospital that's open 24 hours". In a crisis we've learned the hare way how important it is to have one close by and not a half hour or more away. I looked it up and didn't see one listed inside Lynchburg. Roanoke seemed to be the closest one. Can you tell me if you actually have one there?
We have a emergency animal hospital and they terrible and only look to make money, a while back my sister had a pug that was giving birth and having a hard time she rushed the dog there because the regular vet was closed my sister in a rush didn't bring enough money with her and instead of treating the dog and just holding it they made her take the dog back home with a puppy stuck halfway out of her and get more money before they would even treat the dog causing the puppy to die. Simply discussing people.
Well crafted for the most part, We don’t have a Costco we have Sam’s club. This is not a “Coastal” region so the beach reference has no relevance. If someone wants to relocate and would prefer “big city” living then it would probably make sense NOT to consider a small to medium alternative with the same expectations? And I’m pretty sure there is no misleading information directed to those who may be in question. We have one theater as mentioned numerous times but not long ago there were three, Carmike Movies-10 which cost 1 dollar for entry by the way, that being said we also had a few “Blockbuster” stores and everyone knows how they met their demise! A movie theater is pretty much useless if the majority chooses to sit home and stream etc. And thank God for not having an Interstate running through the immediate area as they are easily enough accessible within a half hour or less and we don’t get the “Negative” flow from them. Tax information given is accurate with one exception, you can actually reside in one of two “Counties” and still have a “Lynchburg” mailing address County taxes are generally more forgiving than City taxes without major sacrifice, for example city sewer/water as opposed to County water or Well and Residential Septic. I would almost mention that Waste removal could be noted but Lynchburg forces you to purchase “trash tags” and charges a fee for use of landfill in addition to the higher taxes. They take care of lawn debris as well in intervals / the counties allow you to remove your own household waste to different collection sites around or you have several private pickup options to. Just a thought!

@@Living-In-Lynchburg-Virginia What you have compiled here should be better available to individuals who literally ask questions that you just answered, this is actually what prompted me to watch the video out of curiosity, As i follow a “neighborhood” specific app as well as a Facebook Group and just yesterday A young girl who has taken a job here relocating from Pittsburgh PA. Asks the group what it’s like to reside here. Beginning with the first of comments and becoming quite lengthy (as it primarily turned to debate) received everything from racism to opinions on night life, certain individuals who happen to be wealthy and so much misinformation it was pathetic and I honestly wouldn’t blame her if she rejected the employment opportunity and stayed right where she is, when this area very well may be perfect for her taste !! One individual stated that “Liberty University owns 40% of the town as a whole, and that this location is 15 minutes from the Appalachian Mountains !! Lol, Either way please continue with your efforts as positive insight is always beneficial. 👍🏻
Somehow I think I missed your comment here. You are exactly right. There are so many different perspectives...and some misinformation...and it can be difficult for someone to know what it's like and what to expect. The truth is, every single place...everywhere...has good things and bad things. Every single place...everywhere...has a troubled history of some sort. People are far from perfect. And when you get a bunch of people together in a town or city...you have a town or city with a bunch of imperfect people. So, everyone needs to do the best research they can and hopefully make a decision based on accurate information. No place - including the Hill City - will be right for everyone. Appreciate you watching and commenting! Take care.

What are some examples of big cities that might work for you? If a city that you think is big enough…Is close to Lynchburg…you can definitely get a place for chickens and rabbits. But Lynchburg isn’t big. 😉
Lynchburg is trash ask anyone 16-30, everyone seems to want to leave the city on vacations as much as possible. Also all the young kids there look bored and wouldn’t be surprised if underage drug use and smoking was pretty common there.
The beginning video is wildly misleading. Those homes and neighborhoods are a small percentage of Lynchburg and are actually probably considered to be in the county.
You’re right! Many places “around” Lynchburg are Bedford County or Campbell County or Amherst County. But a lot of people I talk to about “moving to Lynchburg” just think of it all as Lynchburg. 😉 Thanks for watching!
I was in this town around 2005 for Lineman training. Had a great time stayed at a motel next to a place called Cattle Annies. Went to a block party type thing on Friday night. It was a town party good times
You will pay sales tax at purchase. But the Personal Property Tax is every year...on an annual basis. Obviously, it's not for every single thing you purchase. ;) But things like vehicles, certain machinery, etc. Each city or county does a good job of breaking down the details on their individual websites.
That tax on vehicles, which you put at the very end of the video, is actually a huge deal. We never heard of this before living here and it comes as a shock.
It's so funny you guys are talking about NJ and VA. Born and raised in Jersey. But spent a million summers and holidays in Lynchburg because it's where my Mom is originally from. Truly my second home. I have no clue what brought me here. I just typed in Lynchburg, VA and first video!
To anyone thinking of moving here. Rent first. Saying that Lynchburg and the surrounding areas, Bedford, Forest, etc are conservative is an UNDERSTATEMENT. If you have younger children realize there will not be much for them to do here outside the church. Just about every event here has something to do with the church, even our kids come home from school with church flyers. If your looking for diversity you will not find it here. There are a scant few Asian or Mexican markets. And if your looking for anything outside American food you have maybe 3 choices. Lynchburg is mainly made up of Caucasian Boomers. So diversity in religion, food, political views, culture, etc is not really a thing. There are an overwhelming amount of realtors and MLM Huns here. The hustle is very strong with both these crowds. Because the population here is a little older driving can be a little hectic at times. Leave early to get where your going. You will find that people going 20 in a 45 is normal. Or pulling out into oncoming traffic at 5mph is expected. Or going to the only ALDIs in town and finding someone has drove through the side of the building again is not as surprising as you think. The bus rout is pretty much non existent so seeing people driving when they are not supposed to be (per doctors orders) is very common. I’m saying all this because I don’t think the real cons were laid out in this video. Lynchburg is quiet and is beautiful, as far as being a great place to live… I guess that just depends on who you are.
Thanks for watching and commenting Tamm! I agree with you on some of what of you said (like all the REALTORS...ughhh). 😉 And I have a different take on some of what you said. But that's life! And I appreciate your input. I think there are about 400 churches in Lynchburg. So there are a lot of "church" things going on. I wouldn't say it's quite fair to say there's not much outside of church for young kids to do. And Amen to the conservative thing... (uh...I mean "Yes"). I think you're right about that too. I do believe there are people with differing views around. But it's fair to say the area leans conservative, largely due to the influence of Liberty University. Much like it would be fair to say Charlottesville leans liberal, largely due to the influence of UVA. I've been on the road A LOT in my life. First as a Trooper and now as one of those many, many REALTORS. I don't find the older population of drivers to be as much as a problem as the younger, less experienced, and distracted drivers. I would say it's a little bit of a reach to say driving through the side wall of ALDIS is not suprising...or cars driving into oncoming traffic at 5 MPH is to be expected. The bus route thing could be an issue! I don't know a lot about the bus routes. But I'm also not privy to people's medical records. So, I wouldn't venture to say that people driving who have been ordered not to is very common. I appreciate your input Tamm! If you don't mind...give us your #1 non-American food restaurant. I'm curious to know if I've eaten there already. If not, I'll make a visit! Thanks. - JD

And if I have any extra time and cash I’m literally traveling across the U.S. like I started doing not too long ago just to see new things and meet new people. I tell you if I didn’t start taking the initiative to start doing the things I started doing I was bordering on the edge of insanity.
If you move to Lynchburg and you don't have arrangements or are not well to do, it will absolutely ruin you. The people are suspicious, jealous, and lazy.
Can you express yourself a little more on your comment about not being well to do and on not having arrangements and about the people? I am looking for a place to retire to. Thank you.
First, I want to recommend the movie that Andrew Garfield stars in about Lynchburg hero Desmond Doss called Hacksaw Ridge directed by Mel Gibson. I'm struck by no mention of the Izaak Waltan lake and camping. Also, there is also swimming at the Boonsboro Country Club, and the Peakland pool not to mention the James River.
The weird thing is the movie wasn't filmed in VIrginia. Or even the US. They filmed it in Australia, of all places. Saying it "looked just like the area."
@@jdmillerYT There was a longish article about it in I think Lynchburg Living back before it was released that talked about it.

And are you coming back soon?
I was born and raised in Lynchburg as well and moved to FL..I don't miss it at all. Lived there 53 years before running away.
Missed what? The boredom?

My pleasure! You still in NYC?
Love what your doing! Im a lynchburg local.
Appreciate it!
Appreciate that! Lots to like in the Hill City. That video is coming.
Are there any cheap motels there where I can stay??
There sure are hotels and a few motels. The "cheapness" may depend on when you are coming. When certain events are happening at the colleges around town, especially Liberty University (just due to it's size), the room availability can decrease...and rates increase.
Im trying to get out of Ohio. Virginia is calling to me. How is Lynchburg? It keeps popping up
There’s no Costco in Lynchburg. The closest one is in Charlottesville.
True! Did I call Sam’s Club...Costco? Or is this your “con” you’re adding?
Thank you, either way!!! (I am forever calling them the wrong one.) 😉
Living in Lynchburg Virginia at 7:44 you said Costco. I WISH there was a Costco!
Yep!!! I always mess those two up. 😉

I love these videos-a good presentation. I will give you a call when I am ready. Looking at getting my masters and liberty came up.

So I’m currently in Lancaster, PA.
Xfinity/Comcast cable service for Lynchburg. Think Campbell county has Shental.
If I could switch to Comcast...I would.
When I was a kid living there, the big downside was segregation. Back then there were separate schools. E.C. Glass was pretty much whites only.
That wouldn’t be good, for sure!
Do you know anything about living in the Farmville VA area?

@@bryanmayberry5859 That is terribly sad! Sorry to hear about that.
I always mix up Sam’s Club and Costco. Good catch!

Thanks. - JD
@TammTamz Lynchburg is a pretty fairly safe (compared to big city areas) town but it’s a type of place that one would move to if they’re looking for a cheaper, fairly safe area to raise their family.
@Robert Mcqueen Yeah man, the last 2 years or so especially, if I got the time, money and energy, 9 times out of 10 I’m either in Maryland or North Carolina. And if I have any extra time and cash I’m literally traveling across the U.S. like I started doing not too long ago just to see new things and meet new people. I tell you if I didn’t start taking the initiative to start doing the things I started doing I was bordering on the edge of insanity.
Don't come here, it's overpriced. But there is a lot of local and national history
How’s the job market?
Seem to be a lot of job opportunities. Now, I’m not sure how many are upper level positions. It depends what exactly someone is looking for.
That is a GREAT movie! You bring up some great points. 🙂
I may have talked about Izaak Walton Park in another video. (I’m pretty sure I do.) And Boonsboro Country Club costs a little bit to join and use. 😉
The weird thing is the movie wasn't filmed in VIrginia. Or even the US. They filmed it in Australia, of all places. Saying it "looked just like the area."
@@Draknfyre I did enjoy that movie. (Although that sounds weird to say. Maybe... I appreciated the movie, is better.)
@@jdmillerYT There was a longish article about it in I think Lynchburg Living back before it was released that talked about it. It also detailed how someone in the production made many calls to the area specifically to speak to locals for hours to ensure they got the regional accent and dialect down for the actors to emulate. I was impressed by that level of detail.
So happy I found this channel.
The family and I will be moving at the end of the month from Hellalifornia.
Thanks for the information, my wife has no idea about the way of life in VA cant wait to share these videos with her.
Happy to be of help. Call, text, or email if you’d like to connect further.
I grew up in Lynchburg. Joined the military, did that for 11 then became an Police Officer in Texas. My girlfriend and I are moving up in 3 weeks. Its gonna be nice to be back home. No place like it.
@@roberesandifer7864 are you still in law enforcement? Or are you making a career change?
@@jdmillerYT Im still an officer, but I’m not sure if I’m gonna transfer or find a new career field. Im hoping to get on with the county or with Roanoke
I live here 😂
Cool
First of all, you are on the East Coast, so you are never, hear me never going to see a sunset beach. Period. Just wanted to make that clear.
Haha! Great point.
Apparently you need to Google the east-west beaches that exist in some areas (they are directionally east west). Pretty close to a sunset beach scenario.
some places on the East Coast see the sunset on the beach, such as parts of Florida !
I’m from Lynchburg Virginia to Bourne and race
That's great, Randall. You've seen some changes over the years, I'm sure.
I remember when we had a Sonic
I live in Radford
Nice, Justin. Do you have one “con”...one thing that isn’t your favorite about where you live?
@@Living-In-Lynchburg-Virginia Well the people could be a tad friendlier. There's also a ton of socialists here
You did a pretty good job on the cons.....fair...
Thank you. Just my perspective. 😉
Overall, the pros outweigh the cons for me.
I missed my Lynchburg so much, now I live in Israel 🇮🇱.
Oh wow! I'd love to visit someday. How long have you lived there?
JD...about 90 percent of what you're saying is wrong!!!
Hello, Clifton. Happy to have any corrections.

It's more than "Good". It's at the very least "VERY GOOD". 😉
