The problem with your Feiyu G5 test was that you put the Hero 5 and didn't use the included counterweight so it was not balancing the way it should. You can see the demos and on the box that the Feiyu G5 has a counterweight attached to it when using the Hero 5. On the other hand, Hero 4 or 3 without the counter weight are fine but not the Hero 5.
Hi Stephen great review I had the Karma and changed it for the Removu due to the battery life being 4 hours and replaceable while out and about. The S1 being rainproof was a big plus for me that you fail to mention, ideal when running in the rain or skiing which is my activity. I feel the Removu is a great product that’s feature packed but life is about opinions and I am surprised you didn't rate it… Maybe mount the S1 onto a chest mount then you have your arms free to run your 50k… not sure how comfortable it will be… :-)
Great review, like the fact that you do it from your point of view and what you need, which gives it another great perspective, and not necessarily go into all the details and benefits of each model (like you did not mention the Removu semi water protection). I don't have one myself ... yet, but I think for how I will use one, the Removu is the favorite for me.
Just the video I was looking for! Thanks for that. Actually, after watching/reading any reviews, I always seem to settle on thinking the Z1 Evo is the best go to.
Ive had 3 removu s1's in the last week. All 3 went back to jessops with faults. First one battery door would not close. Second one would not turn off and 3rd one lost its mind and was spinning all over the place. Not happy with removu so this is why im here looking for other options
Great video. Quick question... You mention the Zhiyun Z1 Evolution throws an occasional wobbly hissy fit. Does this typically occur when holding the gimbal horizontally while panning? I'm experiencing this wobble/vibration once in a while and want to make sure this is normal. Thanks!
Hi Stephen great review, I wished I'd watched this before buying my gimbal literally an hour before. I think you definitely do the best running videos I've watched on the web, would love to see a Vlog on any tips and advice you have on filming and editing runs for us amateurs if you get a chance :)
I think referring to the rainprofeness of the gimbles would be an amazing addiction to your review, specially during hours of run, under sun or rain...that might be kind of important. thanks and nice reviews!
I like how the 2-button operation of the Removu was cumbersome but the 3-button operation of the Evo was fine! Also from the very beginning of the video you had no trouble pronouncing "Zhiyun" but struggled with "Removu" - I gave you the benefit of the doubt but subjective review it was not - shame!
Alexis Hadjisoteriou yes fair comment. It's all perspective isn't it. For many the Removu is great. Just wasn't for me. Certainly for running I wouldn't recommend it.
Thank you for your timely and honest reply. I was looking for something wearable mainly for cycling, something the Evo, I think, is not really suitable because it's a shame as it's cheaper than the Removu!
Erm I think you'll find it was a subjective view! Unless the English definition of "subjective" has changed diametrically since I studied grammar. Possibly not OBJECTIVE but hey ho, it's Stephen's opinion and presented in a way that's very understandable. The other thing worth noting that might influence choice is that the series is called "Film my Run" not "Film my Bike Ride"
The conditions in some of your videos seem quite wet but the the footage is still really smooth so you're obviously using a gimbal. The only waterproof set up you reviewed was the gopro 5 + karma grip but you said the battery life was too short. Is that what you're using on the wet races and just putting up with the short battery life?
Hi Stephen, great review. I have the Feiyu G4 and for the most part I have got on alright with it, but I do agree with the points you made with regards to its unpredictability. "Note I do not discuss AUDIO in this review." - Any plans to do another similar review of recording options?
Hi Stephen, thanks for your video and it answered quite a few of my questions yet I may need your opinion. My wife got me a GoPro Hero 5, I did not used it often because an action cam with no stabilizer is actually useless. I wanted to get a Karma Grip or simply get a Karma Drone all together but Karma drone fails a lot and DJI's mavic pro is absolutely doing so much better than Karma. Also, I would like to use my phone (iPhone8 later, perhaps) to shoot video and do the facebook live etc. As a result, I have looked into and compared DJi's Osmo Mobile, Karma Grip and Zhiyun Smooth Q etc. Karma Grip of course would do the best with its compatibility with Hero5, but it's solely for GoPro and its battery life and slow response with buttons bothers me. Osmo Mobile is good for phones and its face tracking is superb, but it needs an unofficial mount for GoPro and many users reflected Osmo Mobile do have significant noise of the motor. Read some posts mentioned about Zhiyun and Feiyu, Zhiyun Smooth Q was not reliable though and people said putting Hero 5 wide angle on would capture the gimbal as well. So, I am deciding from 1) Karma Grip but the option of using mobile phone would be opted out; 2) Osmo Mobile so I could use both Hero5 and cellphones 3) Zhiyun Z1 Evo solely for GoPro and forget about phones 4) Zhiyun Smooth Q for both but the it does not goes really well with Hero5. I need to confirm which one to buy really soon due to my trip next week. Hope I can get your reply very soon. Thanks!
Thanks for this awesome review, Stephen. The recommendation is great, but sadly it doesn't look like it's compatible with the Hero Session :( Do you have a recommendation that works with that please? Cheers!
I know this reply comes two years after the comment was posted, but just in case anyone like me was wondering if the Zhiyun Evolution is compatible with the Hero5 Session, it potentially is - it comes with a separate Session adapter which can be purchased from Zhiyun or third party suppliers. It's basically just a tiny bit of plastic with a metal screw that allows it to be attached.
I was just about to buy the Karma grip, realised it don't match to a session 5... Does the Zhiyon z1 evolution match so a Session 5 and Hero 6 like the EVO SS does? It realy seems like my only choise now is to buy the EVO SS instead of the karma. Zhiyon z1 Evolution seems not to match with my Session, and hence I'm going to by a hero 6 in the future I want it to fit both. As I said as the EVO SS does.. BUT I don't know how the stabilization and other things is with the EVO SS. Anyone ??
Just to note the Feiyu has no good way of attaching a mic unless you have a trick for that, I found my G4 is rubbish for this, as a vlogger myself ill be buying the Removu for versatility and adding a wireless mic.
I would just like to have a wearable gimbal for the Hero 5 Black that doesn't pick up the gimbal motor noise. I do stay in "Wind Only" mode on the camera which helps but still not good enough. Lot's of motor noise. Any recommendations?
NeverToLateToRC same here for what i need is. wearable plus motor noise issues. baught the removu s1. its heavy on a chest mount and no matter how tight i set the chest harness it still bounce like crazy because its heavy. also gets out of balance. 2nd removu s1 i sent back just now. waiting for my refund and buy feiyu tech wg2. problem is nobody have it to make a review of it. commercial type intro is available but nobody did a review yet. I'll buy it and i will make a review. my first review and opinion of anything. because its fuxxxng ridiculous that most people payed to say the things in reviews and not the truth like the one video we watched here. i will say the truth like the owner of this video and i have more shit to say about removu. which is the firmware they killed mine with twice and later admit it to everyone to do factory setting because it does kill it. calibration sounds like killing the motors too. so here it is. feiyu wg2 i think is the answer. look up whats available on it.
Hello, after this video i m closer to the REMOVU,hahahah, actually i was suprised when you said that has this and that, for me that's the point,to be able to attach it somewhere or use it with the grip only,of course it's all perspective!! what's works for everyone, and you forgot to mention which is rainproof, removu is for sure :))) also as owner of the GoPro Hero 4 black, why they make rainproof or whatever gimbals and i have to put the GoPro without a housing??? thats one more plus for the removu, they have made one housing to attach the gimbal..will you make a video comparison of all?? while you running of course!!
the feiyu are crap. Mine plays up all the time..It does what you showed in the video plus sometimes it just freaks out aand spins crazy. Im selling it and getting something else.

Hi,
I have one question, where do you keep your Zhiyun while running to be protected from water?
Thank you
Great review, like the fact that you do it from your point of view and what you need, which gives it another great perspective, and not necessarily go into all the details and benefits of each model (like you did not mention the Removu semi water protection). yeah, at last, I found someone who is straight to the point, great vid Mate and a big bonus you run and knows what you are talking.
I have used the Z1 with YI 4K camera and it is awesome. The handle can be shortened and can use short 18350 batteries.
Did u forget to add the counterweight to the Feiyu for Hero 5?
I love how honest, and down to earth you are - excellent video!
great, simple and very explicit short review . good job :)
Just the video I was looking for! Thanks for that. Actually, after watching/reading any reviews, I always seem to settle on thinking the Z1 Evo is the best go to.
many thanks for the reviews Stephen. Some i think are way too 'gadgety' for running with and as you say, maybe not enough battery life.
Many thanks for the reviews Stephen, are you thinking to do a review on FeiyuTech Gimbal Camera Summon plus?
Ive had 3 removu s1's in the last week. All 3 went back to jessops with faults. First one battery door would not close. Second one would not turn off and 3rd one lost its mind and was spinning all over the place. Not happy with removu so this is why im here looking for other options

perhaps you could touch on whats best for sound quality and what one you can fit a mic to easily, I know the Removu s1 does a good job I think.
This is exactly the video I was looking for ! Thanks a lot it really helped me out
I think referring to the rainprofeness of the gimbles would be an amazing addiction to your review, specially during hours of run, under sun or rain...that might be kind of important. thanks and nice reviews!

Great video thanks! have you thought about the EVO GP pro? would love to see you review it!
Big thanks! !
You help me decide witch gimbal to buy great review! !! Zhiyun to order : )
Good honest review. Just what i like to see on a comparison test.
your review is hard and sharp but from a runners point of view, and I agree that the gimbal you chose is probably the right one for you.
The conditions in some of your videos seem quite wet but the the footage is still really smooth so you're obviously using a gimbal. The only waterproof set up you reviewed was the gopro 5 + karma grip but you said the battery life was too short. Is that what you're using on the wet races and just putting up with the short battery life?
veg-ian hi. No I use the Evo but try to keep filming to a minimum in wet conditions
ah ok. Just watched the vid again and think your problem with the feiyu tech g5 is because you haven't got the counter weight fitted.
Hi Stephen, great review. I have the Feiyu G4 and for the most part I have got on alright with it, but I do agree with the points you made with regards to its unpredictability.

Not yet I don't think. Other reviews to do.

Nice to get your gimble insight.
Now we have more than one year later. Which gimbal is your favorite now?
bought the z1 for 100 Euros today! Cant wait!

Still happy with the Zhiyun?
can you tell me if the z1 is compatible with Andoer action camera?
great review just the things that I want to hear
Great review!
have you tried the EVO GP-pro?

zhiyun is better and the motor is also stronger than the others
Feiyu G5 is nr.1
very interesting
feiyu tech software sucks will broke itself soon like mine . 2mos of use it broke itself by rotating like crazy.. waste of money
Its just too many bits.
