So much for the "strongest trainer in the world" Now with Masters, Blue's been beaten by another blank slate AND the first two gym leaders of his region. Poor guy.
I don't know, he still has feats under his belt. He still stomped out every Gym Leader in Kanto, including the boss of a criminal syndicate (hell Blue gave zero fucks about Team Rocket, literally strolling in TR-infested Silph Co. just to fight Red), and steamrolled the Elite Four. Then he's called to the Battle Tree to be one of the two bosses, when that position could have been given to someone else like Cynthia. None of the NPC's are the strongest, but Blue is in a good position.
I like how the S/M version carries elements that fit all regions. Main theme from Kanto, whateverthatis from Johto, heavy beats from Hoenn, violins from Sinnoh, base from Unova, accordion from Kalos and guitar from Alola~

As much stick as he gets, Blue did become Champion before Red at like 10/11 years old. Thats how good they both actually were. If you grew up playing R/B around that same age, you will always see Blue as your eternal rival.

Yuuki Raijin Blue was champion of kanto for days before Red. Even Red beat him, Blue set out for bigger things like working for Blane (yes the new Professor Oak) and even a gym leader. Blue even has his name in the Hall of Fame of every league including the Battle Tree in Alola.
For real. From Mega Mewtwo and Mega Charizard, to the Alolan forms of Kanto Pokemon, to Kanto characters having tons of relevance and appearances in other games. Mewtwo has been a significant force in so many movies, comics, spin off games and spin off shows...

I really like Blue more than Red. Sure, Red is badass n' shit, but Blue is obviously the more realistic version of us if Pokemon were real. He's by far the best rival since he's actually a rival, and by far the best Champion since the person you've been trying to catch up with is your final challenge. Blue > Red.
IMO his role as a rival is way better than his champion cause he is immediately dethroned by red and then lance and then Cynthia outclasses all champions... But he's the 2nd best rival only 2 Silver
Well Blue as champ was still Red's rival, just the climax to their rivalry. Blue's character works far better as a Gym Leader. If you see his character throughout every game he appears in up to Sun and Moon, you really see how much he's developed and changed. Also, from an in-game perspective, there's nothing more climactic in a rival fight than reaching the end of the E4 and being surprised by a 5th fight. This time, a final confrontation with your arch-rival for the title as the greatest trainer (at least in Kanto).
Also lol. I like Lance, but he only became champion because the two people stronger than him (Red and Blue) chose not to obtain that position again. I like Cynthia as a champion, but I honestly she's quite overrated as one. She doesn't do much in D/P, though Platinum increased her helpfulness in the game. Even then, as far as difficulty goes, people usually say she was hard, but I never found her any more difficult than fighting Blue. I honestly found Iris tougher (who I also feel is underrated as a champ as well).

But it's pretty laughable to say Cynthia outclasses all other champs when Gamefreak portrays Red and Blue as being debatably stronger than her. So yeah, I agree, that's clearly the implication. I remember when Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 came out, and I decided to send one of my best replays from White over to White 2 to relive it with better graphics. But instead of hearing the normal trainer battle music, I heard Blue's theme and completely fucking lost it.
The only thing I absolutely hated about blue was picture this: You finish a huge route with horribly strong trainers and your finally able to go and heal... and he fugging challenges you right at the god damn door!!!

Considering his theme is used for way more than just in game it makes sense. Don't forget the remixes of his themes are used for the World Championships every year now.
I think the best thing about his champion theme is the opening 5 seconds, the notes sounds like a warning siren, signaling the danger that is the strongest Pokémon trainer in the world

As a trainer, blue is seen as an annoyance and think he won't go far in his journey. So the trainer theme is more tame. But as a champion, it's much more serious. Being the champion is something you've went through hell to reach, and _HE_ gets it lickity split?! _THAT_ is the last straw with him! And I like to think that the fight is the opposite of how they normally start. Instead of him challenging you, it's YOU challenging him in your outrage.
The video may call it evolution, I say R/B/Y Champion theme is the best version. Just like Pursuit ~ Cornered, some songs are perfect in 8/16 bit and can not be improved upon. Most themes add unnecessary attachments, especially to the beginning and take away from the awe-inspiring and threatening character of the original. The transition and the start with its long pauses there are the best part.
I agree, sometimes the classic versions are perfect and they have no need of being remixed,, The trilogy AA games were a good example tbh :0 and it even applies to the Apollo Justice ost,, (ofc not all songs are perfect in their original form, take the Magatama theme for example, they NAILED it in AJ:AA) But anywho. Blue's theme has been very consistent in quality which is great :D My favourite one is the X/Y WCS but the original is still perfect in my opinion! I did not expect to see an AA comment here ^^ greetings

What I love about Blue's theme is that you can feel the raw power he has. It's quite intimidating, but also bad ass

Guess I didnt appreciate it too much as a kid but its actually really good.

Considering his theme is used for way more than just in game it makes sense. Don't forget the remixes of his themes are used for the World Championships every year now.

As a trainer, blue is seen as an annoyance and think he won't go far in his journey. So the trainer theme is more tame.
But as a champion, it's much more serious. Being the champion is something you've went through hell to reach, and _HE_ gets it lickity split?! _THAT_ is the last straw with him! And I like to think that the fight is the opposite of how they normally start. Instead of him challenging you, it's YOU challenging him in your outrage.

The video may call it evolution, I say R/B/Y Champion theme is the best version. Just like Pursuit ~ Cornered, some songs are perfect in 8/16 bit and can not be improved upon.
Most themes add unnecessary attachments, especially to the beginning and take away from the awe-inspiring and threatening character of the original. The transition and the start with its long pauses there are the best part.
I agree, sometimes the classic versions are perfect and they have no need of being remixed,, The trilogy AA games were a good example tbh :0 and it even applies to the Apollo Justice ost,, (ofc not all songs are perfect in their original form, take the Magatama theme for example, they NAILED it in AJ:AA)
But anywho. Blue's theme has been very consistent in quality which is great :D
My favourite one is the X/Y WCS but the original is still perfect in my opinion!
