- Painting this 1987 Monte Carlo SS desert tan. I will be applying the red SS stripes around the body which will match the interior of the vehicle.. dealing with old-school cars in general, expect to have quite a bit of imperfections to repair. Rule number one before painting triple check your work. Check your masking and check each panel individually for a smooth clean surface prior to paint.  check for any hairline cracks Bondo rings, dents deep scratches on sanded, primer or paint Etc. You’re only gonna make your day longer if you avoid any steps.. painting cars is not as simple as you think! we use the same pps liners... i agree... after removing the cap 2 or 3 times I go ahead and replace the lid. i've even taped paper towels around the outside of the cup like a diaper, thats saved me a few times as well.
I know the feeling oh too well. I was painting my motorcycle 2ton with lace graphics and everything thing that could go wrong did. Painted the bike 3 times before I finished and yes I wanted to quit but I didn't and every time I'm on it someone is tell me how sweet it looks. Learn from it all. Sometimes you do everything right and still it's just the game keep doing yo thang.

use some guide coat and find all the imperfections. been painting for 13 years now..... make it your best friend.

You need to invest in some like 90 quick check that’s what it’s called it’s a spray that shows you imperfection or what it would like with clear on. Works better than wax and grease remover

Nah.. ask 10 good painters with good a work ethic and the answers wont differ that much. Like his logic for the handles and trim.. they'll all tell you to take that stuff off.

I been doing autobody for 35 years by the time u ststt painting you should have looked at the paint surface really close because paint is too expensive to just spray willy nilly and hope everything is perfect . There is steps you should take every single time to make sure all the basics are covered and make those things a habbit a good start is you should invest in guide coat . Good luck sir.
Bro I feel your pain. As for those drips I don’t use the liners just give me the cup that comes with the gun.
