Sold my AX8 and MkII and just went with the FM3. It sounded great to me and it's still "current" Fractal.

I upgraded from the Ultra to the 3 about a year or two ago, and the things you noted were the things I noticed right away. Stronger/more useable low end and a drastic change in feel. Good vid as per usual.

excellent..... Nailed exactly some of my questions ... ! now I'd like to see the same test between FM3 and FM9.
I 'm surprised these sound as close as they are! These comparisons can't be judged on your phone. I appreciate your comparisons though I not a metal player this illuminates some of the picture for my ears Thank you.

It looks like the FM3 uses 10% more of CPU power than the AX8 all the time.
Is it because the AX8 has a more powerful CPU?

Hey man cool video! All I can hear from this is that the FM3 kind of has more depth in the sounds like its higher quality but overall both are usable. Somewhat unrelated but a friend of mine has an FM3 and he is having issues with passing the wet sound (amped and cabed) from the FM3 to Reaper. He is using the FM3 as an audio interface so he passes the sound through the USB. Is that okay or should he do it some other way? He sent me some audio clips and it sounds like the signal is kind of low quality. His guitar input isn`t clipping in the FM3. He claims that the sound in reaper sounds like it lacks some bass that he can hear in his headphones while playing. Thank you in advance!

Hugely enjoy your content mate! I am thinking of beginning with building a small mixing space at Home. Could you see yourself doing a video about room treatment? Ive seen a lot of diy bass traps videos but nobody seems to do a deep(ish) dive on where to place what kind of treatment in a room and how much treatment you need for what size of space.

I wasn't crazy about the first couple singles, but I've listened to Gordian Naught at least once a day since it released - A+.
I've not listened to a single demo of the Line 6 Plugins, and do not plan to even try them out.

      100% agreed
There's actually nothing to review sonically since there's nothing new (new models and cab sim are nothing mindblowing, the only question is why tf aren't they in helix yet), however, I think there's is an interesting analysis to do. The market is pretty much shifting from all in one versatile solution to lazer focused one trick poneys, and the success of ndsp has something to do with it. And I find sad that so much guitarists are just aclaiming a repackaged version of something they already have.
      Just sharing my thoughts.

I had an Axe II with mfc101 and sold it for a little more than what i paid for it which completely paid for my FM3 (that never happens right, wtf?) Great video. I'm always seeing this question on TGP, should I sell my AxeII for an Axe III product. Now we have somewhere to point these people.

cool a foo fighters riff followed my no remorse metallica, reminds me of a foo fighters concert i just watched where Dave started playing no remorse riff before jumping into This is a call @ bizzare festival in 2000. That being said I actaully liked the 8 better when i listened closely, sounded a bit brighter where the fm3 sounded a little too boxy, kind of like my vst plugins now that i think of it, when i turn off the supersampling i dont get a worse quality tone i get a more brighter rawer tone to my ear, maybe thats whats going on, the newer version maybe supersampled more leaving the older to sound brighter or more clear even tho it might be technically lesser quality? Not sure if thats goins on there.

I also noticed that FM3 with Cygnus has a dark sound, dull, too midrange. It's like he's covered with a blanket. Axe-FX II sounds bright and open. You say you can use the equalizer in FM3 to make the amplifier open and bright. Please make a video about it. Show how to make FM3 amplifiers bright, poisonous, biting like in Axe-FX II.

  • @IntheDAW

I have noticed with the latest updates my axe fx 3 really does seem to replace me using my real amps more and more. I've started to make custom impulses alot to get even closer. I am very happy with my product and don't event plan on getting any upgrades unless it's some world shaking changes

  • @RubyRoks
    @RubyRoks 2 года назад +2

The tones Good on both, however the AX8 has more presence/treble, to my ear, in every clip and i prefer brighter sounds more often than not. There's so much difference that you could pan FM3 left and AX8 right and get a really good blend of tones for double tracking. Another feather in the AX8's cap is that many (but not all) of the modern high gain examples *sounded like they felt* more like real amps due to a more prevalent bass response. The FM3 seems to sound more "real" whereas the AX8 sounds like a mixed guitar tone
If the FM3/FM9/AXEIII didn't have features i want, and more importantly if used "last gen" gear didn't cost the same as the new stuff, i'd be saving for an AxeFXII or AX8
Also, i really hate to be the bearer of nitpicks, but it seems that aliasing issue you had in the Mercurial Ampbox video is back. 11:45, 15:09, and especially 15:52 are hit by this. I don't know if it's your screen recorder, your DAW, your NLE, RUclips, or some combination of them all, but SOMETHING isn't happy and it really does sound like a bitrate mismatch with the way it just murders treble and air frequencies.

Its night and day which I didnt expect I thought that axe 2 had a decent sound but it sounds like the competion mouer ,hotone, quad cortex etc harsh digital innacurate flat. Which makes me wonder how good axe 3 really is compared to a tube amp what if axe 4 comes out and axe 3 will sound like cheap chinese garbage compared to that
