    I referenced this and the top 5 cab video so many times leading up to purchasing the ax8 and still do after having the amp sim for a few months now. Thanks for the great content man. I have to thank you for the metal tones I've finally polished up over the past few days.

      Plague Scythe Studios Right on, they are definitely helpful. Is there any good way we could continue the discussion without using the comment section? I have a few technical questions surrounding the AX8 that I think you would be best to talk with about.

    Just curious why dont you like the friedman? That's one of my all time favorite. I do love the savage 1 in the ax8 as well.

      the Friedman model is my favorite one too
      i feel like you can get the feel of playing through high gain without actually using that much gain

    Great video, very knowledgable. I'm an AX8 user, and I'm wondering what you use as your drive block. I usually just use the tube screamer, but what was wondering what you use. Thanks!

      +Seth Gingerich Thank you! For this video it was indeed the TS 808 OD, but I've been experimenting with clean boosts like the FET boost recently and I'm getting some great results. More to come!

      Thanks for the reply! Do you run your TS808 at noon on all parameters? I'm never sure what balance of drive and output to use.

      Thanks! I don't believe I did, but I might have increased the cut off frequency on the Brutalz and Severe to 200 Hz from their default value. Everything else I know I kept stock.

      +facumetalandrock In this video I use stock cabs , but I like to use free impulses like the Excalibur pack as well.

    Could you do a video on how to get a periphery or monuments tone? I’m picking up my Ax8 tomorrow. And their rhythm, high gain, and clean tones are what I want. From there I’ll tweak it a bit but they have my favorite tone.

    • @PlagueScytheStudios
      @PlagueScytheStudios  7 лет назад +2

      +Brandon Kelley I could attempt it, but I'm honestly not a huge fan of Periphery. Fortunately, Misha uploaded his personal AXE FX presets to AXE Exchange, so you can just download them and convert them to AX8 using FracTool.

    hi im saving for an ax8 to hopefully get in for christmas and im a bedroom player with no band at all, do you think getting an ax8 its a good decision? and should i get power amp+guitar cab or frfr or should I stick with studio monitors? monitors would be yamahas hs7 or 8.... what do you think is better?
    thanks!!!

    • @PlagueScytheStudios
      @PlagueScytheStudios  7 лет назад

      +Carlos Pereira Cen As someone who is only using the AX8 for jamming and recording currently, I think it's perfectly usable in your situation. I think the ideal speaker solutions are studio monitors, headphones, or a real guitar cabinet and flat power amp without a cab block. HS7s should sound great!

    what interface do you use? and how do you record? SPDIF?

    • @PlagueScytheStudios
      @PlagueScytheStudios  7 лет назад +1

      +Arsha Mortezapour I use Focusrite Scarlett products. Recently, I upgraded to the 6i6 and record stereo over SPDIF and DI through the FX Loop, but it also works in my 2i2 through the pre amps.

    • @arshamortezapour7469
      @arshamortezapour7469 7 лет назад +1

      cool ! I ordered my AX8 recently, I think It takes a couple of weeks to be delivered :) I was wondering if I should upgrade my scarlett 2i2 and if the pre amps are ok. And I'm thinking about buying a cheap and good monitor like Yamaha Hs5.. .. any suggestions? :)

    • @PlagueScytheStudios
      @PlagueScytheStudios  7 лет назад +1

      Awesome dude, I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do! Unless you need the functionality to record two separate impulse responses and a DI track at the same time (plus all the other cool routing features of the 6i6), your 2i2 is more than adequate. There's no discernible loss in quality from going from digital to analogue and back to digital. Even Misha Mansoor uses a 2i2 on his AXE FX sometimes.
      As far as monitors go, my 5 inch BX5s suit me well, so I think you will like the Yamahas.

    Splawn nitro? On ax8,Your thoughts?

    • @PlagueScytheStudios
      @PlagueScytheStudios  7 лет назад +1

      +Reborn Music Never delved much into the Splawn models. For higher gain and more sculptable JCM, tones they're hard to beat IRL.

  • @SlyHikari03

    I’d buy the Brootalz as well.
    They gotta make the tonestack labeled “Hammer, Mace, Dagger”,
    For maximum brutal.

    What is your cab ?

    • @PlagueScytheStudios
      @PlagueScytheStudios  7 лет назад

      +Charles Gadenne I think it was a mix between the Recto 4x12 with the M160 and an ENGL 4x12, I deleted the patch so I can't check.

  • @LambofPantera66
    @LambofPantera66 7 лет назад

    Hey bro I'm a noob when it comes to amp sims and I wanted to ask how does this work I have monitors and a focusrite would I just plug into the focusrite or something ?

    • @PlagueScytheStudios
      @PlagueScytheStudios  7 лет назад

      +LambofPantera66 Yes, the optimal setup for recording and low latency playback is to connect the AX8 through an interface with stereo direct monitoring and playing through monitors or headphones. What model of Focus rite interface do you have? The 2i2 can work, but the monitoring mode is only in mono.

    • @LambofPantera66
      @LambofPantera66 7 лет назад

      Plague Scythe Studios yea I have the 2i2 will it make it sound like shit or something

    • @PlagueScytheStudios
      @PlagueScytheStudios  7 лет назад

      +LambofPantera66 Not at all, you just won't be able to take full advantage of the AX8 is all. Recording will be virtually unaffected, but live playback won't take advantage of the stereo capability.

    Can you make a video on creating a Swedish death metal patch on the ax8 with the classic HM2 sound? Something that sounds like Vallenfyre, Bloodbath or Black Breath?

    • @PlagueScytheStudios
      @PlagueScytheStudios  7 лет назад

      +Ryan Cumming I would direct you to this thread since I'm hardly an expert on the tones of classic Boss pedals
      forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/chefs-boss-hm2.91429/
      You should be able to download the patch and concert it to AX8 with FracTool.

    • @ryanAcumming
      @ryanAcumming 7 лет назад

      I tried that one but its a patch on the Axe-Fx II. You know any way to import an Axe-Fx II patch into the AX8?

    • @PlagueScytheStudios
      @PlagueScytheStudios  7 лет назад

      +Ryan Cumming Yes, a program called FracTool can convert between the two.

    • @ryanAcumming
      @ryanAcumming 7 лет назад

      Great I'll try that out! Also thanks for doing a shootout with some of the amps, it got me messing around with Fas modern III and the bogner tones

    i think really all of them sound extreme similar to each other... WTF

    • @MichaelDespairs
      @MichaelDespairs 4 года назад

      Well number one it sounds like you don't have a very developed ear. Number 2 they vary just as much as most guitar amps and high gain amps vary from each other. He also has an OD pedal in front of these and using the same cabinet so they have that in common.

  • @bigmike9527

    first of all a bogner does not sound like a marshall at all? second of all why do you keep comparing a bogner to a marshall?and 3rd of all you really know how to make a bogner sound like shit!! thumbs down buddy!!

    • @PlagueScytheStudios
      @PlagueScytheStudios  6 лет назад +1

      Every Bogner dirty channel is literally based on one Marshall circuit or another, and the cleans on blackface Fenders - Reinhold Bogner says it himself. The UberSchall uses a standard Marshall tones tack, but the gain structure is so extreme and the pots are tapered so differently the resulting sound is unique.
