4 years later this still slamming, nice demo!
Man, this amp so good. I added a boost with the low end cut out by 2dB, and put it through an Engl 4x12 in the Axe, and it's great for 8 and 9 string guitars. Your videos are so helpful for me, so thank you.
Ohhh mann..... that song you played..... shiver
your snare sounds exactly like the Black Album.
Awesome! I have to give all the credits to Steven Slate for releasing those samples in Steven Slate Drums.
no way man haha
Wow...!!! Awseome sound... the writing, the recording... all of it is awesome. I would buy this song!
Anyone else wanna hear this turn into a complete song?
that is pretty cool ,
Sounds like a heavier song off Reload.
This sounds incredible!
Sounds killer! Thick, right, articulate and *heavy*.
I play many IIc+ profiles. And you can get close to this sound with a dual rectifier or profile of. Place a high cut on it take it down to preference. Sounds amazing with celestion G12t 75
To me, that is the perfect tone!
Ha! I thought it's a new Metallica song! Very powerful modern tone. The drum is super too.
This alone makes me want to buy the Fractal. Also, it's so funny that the 2C+ amp is from the 80's and it's still considered as a modern tone. :)
very nice! this would be perfect for Iced Earth too.
great sound
Perfect. Just perfect. I copied your settings and it sounds awesome. Thanks!
Sounds amazing! Spot on! The drums sound killer too.
Thanks! And I also love those Steven Slate Drums. They're killer!
You just got yourself a new sub! I gotta try SSD sometime soon. Sounds like a good replacement for SD2. Keep up the good work :)
Yeah check it out. I have not used SD2 since installing Slate, that was 4 years ago!
if only Metallica would go back to this sound. This sounds better than anything they've put out since the Black Album. I enjoyed the load sessions too.
Great sound, great walk through and great playing!! Thanx, man! :-)
God damn that sounds good. My own AX8 is in transit right now, a few days and imma have a lot of fun tweaking.
Sounds great!!
Thanks!
holy fuck time to update my axefx
Thank you so much for this. It helped me a lot! I just subscribed to your channel. Keep up the good work.
Oh hell YEAH!
Absolutely amazing.
:)
Dude... that sound was fucking intense. It's so wide.
wow!
Fucking good TONE!
Awesome!
Hey Jon, Love your mixing videos!!! Do you use the AxeFX's USB as interface or do you have a dedicated interface? What are you using on your 2buss or mastering to get that level and overall tone?
Gemm777 Thanks! I use my AXE FX as main USB interface. You can see my current master bus settings briefly in my David Bendeth Slate drums mixing episode.
Your the best! Thanks!
Tks that's awesome
What Ownhammer cab pack is the OH 412 MES V30 JS on as of 6-5-19?
Very very cool bro 😎
can you share presets used in this video? thanks in advance... killer tone... well done.
Keeeeeeller track my dude.
If you don't mind me asking how did you get your animation image effect at 8 seconds? Are you using iMovie? I'm trying to learn how to do something like that. Thanks!
What else do you have going on with the bass? Ownhammer IR's, and which amp and what kind of settings? Sounds great!
Thanks! I show the same bass preset as I used in this video here: ruclips.net/video/2yuR37g3pBE/видео.html I always use Ownhammer bass IR's from the bass pack that is available on their website.
When is the cab pack heavy hitters which you reference in the video expected to be released?
I would think in a week or 2
Nice.
super!!!
Sounds killer, i have the Axe Fx 2 and i dont really get the same type of tones when using these settings, any suggestions?
Pop question: why set the Basic amp tone settings like that and then scoop out the mid in the EQ section? I'm more of a producer of EDM and the like, but I have done guitar based music quite a bit over the years, so I'm not nit picking, I'm genuinely interested in the shaping of amplifier tones. This is because a friend of mine has one of these Axe FX IIs and they've got me thinking all about this kind of stuff.
I should've continued watching lol, but I'm still at odds with using an EQ for tone shaping when the Basic section should have you covered?!
+Joey Schmidt Audio Productions good question!
let me explain:
On some guitar amps like this Mesa Boogie MKIIC++ the tone stack (eq tone controls) are set pre-gain which means that the equalisation happens before the pre-amp distortion. Because of this the basic amp controls have a different kind of function. With a pre gain tone stack you can use the eq as more of a distortion character shaper. For example, if you desire a clear guitar tone remove some bass and add treble etc. This will not really affect the overall eq curve much but more the character of the guitar or distortion. Because of this 'post equalisers' can be applied to affect the general eq and this has an effect more like a traditional equaliser would.
Some guitar amps have tonestacks set after the gain stage. This will give very different results and probably will act more like how you'd expect it to. For the Axe Fx you can compare for example the IIC++ and the Calli Leggy. Try the tone controls and see how they respond differently.
I hope this helps!
Ahhh, that makes more sense now. I quite liked the Calli Leggy when my mate played some Vai style stuff through it. Didn't sound as good with me given that I've had two debilitating injuries to my left hand that hampered my playing abilities. I practically gave up guitar for about 10 years as well as being only an off and on player before that. Got myself Rocksmith to start learning while playing along with some of my favourite songs. I know I could probably get a better learning method, but this one suits me!
How can I get the JS version of the cab? I bought the OH HeavyHitters 1 pack, but Im not seeing any of the blends or the JS version.
is this available for the fx 3
oh, I'd love to have that Bass preset, that sounds great! Which Ownh. cab are you using for that?
Hi Justin, I recommend watching my latest video. It's all about my bass presets.
Cool, will do!
Do the bass tone made with the axe fx too?
Gave you a sub jon!!
Dude! I didn't know you checked these videos out.
Didn't the guitar tech from Metallica come onto the forum and say that this wasn't really Hetdields amp? Cliff never did explain why he said it was Metallica's amp. Sounds good but think that Fractal was misleading in their firmware update notes.
Super late reply, he said it wasn't modeled by that exact amp. But it is the amp model they use live
Did you use any post processing on the tone or is that the output straight from the axefx?
some very minor eq to make the guitars work with the drums and bass. I think there was a frequency in the mids that I had to dip slightly to make more room for the snare.
+Sonic Drive Studio gotcha. Sounds great. Keep up the good work. I really enjoy your videos and fractal forum posts.
Your voice like Ola Englund
Tuning of the guitar please!, and can you please send me the drum track,i wanna cover this sick riff!
can you share presets used in this video?
whis slate preset is that?
Black
thank you
does this work on the AxeFx 1?
Sounds better than Metallica lol
tanto agudo a las weas asdklas
Not feeling it. Maybe it’s the lack of aggressive playing style, not talking shit, just say’n
If there was any band that need NOT use digital fake processed Fractals, it's Metallica.
Well they do use Fractal and it sounds great
whis slate preset is that?
