My own personal feeling about these "Mark II" and "Turbo" versions of existing products (particularly for the Axe-Fx) is that while their very obvious aim is to milk more money from what's essentially an existing product, it also allows them to very deliberately delay what everyone really wants - a new product. The Axe-Fx 3 launched over 5 years ago...come on Fractal, where's the Axe-Fx 4 ? !!!
@@LeonTodd True, but not the point since any unit cant get those for infinity, and beyond. The point is, a new designed unit allows the functionality changes to be as numerous as you want, on the software - and hardware side - and using a mix of improved and latest components. --> PLEASE tell us you appreciate this? - I have to assume you do, and what your reply is, in effect, and equally obvious, is firefighting for the company...Fractal ;) !!!
As long as original FM3 going to be supported with updates, I don’t care and see no any reason to upgrade. If upgrade, then to FM9, but then its different size and weight factor…
I agree. Line6 Helix exists for years and is still top notch and high customer ranking because Line6 focuses on software optimization of hardware rather than to solve a problem with more hardware.
My FM3 can still do everything it could before, and even more now that Dynacabs free up some CPU usage. As long as it's not an entirely new generation, I can achieve the best tones Fractal has to offer, so I don't really care. If I used a ton of effects, I'd be bummed that a new unit can do stuff I'd like to do with the FM3, but that's not my situation.
10% CPU uplift and bigger scribble strips is hardly a generational leap. It's iterative at best. If this had the CPU horsepower of the FM9, yeah, sure. When I saw the video title, my heart sank. But I don't have anything to feel disappointed about.
A lot of people say Fractal sounds are some of the best, but they seem to have trouble getting stuff out in a timely manner. They never seem to get ahead of the curve competitively...
Ahhh I really want one but the CPU is so underpowered. It's like a 6-7 year old unit now. I want to be able to use dual amps and I think with the next gen, they need to triple the CPU power.
When you have that dropped d tuning with dist and chorus it just sounds...so... Gretchen. 80's called and wanted its Rockman sound back....can't it do anything else?
Hahaha yep that's definitely Ty Tabor territory. I've got a few hundred FM3/FM9/Axe-Fx videos up on here so you should be able to hit all the other parts of the tonal rainbow.
@@geezberry8889 Correct and agreed- massively under powered. Probably the worse value of all their modern units...but nice form factor for a casual cat who plays via his/her coffee table- then it is perfectly good. If you want a floor unit that is very close to the Axe-Fx III, the FM9 Turbo is it. I would however def. wait or the MKII to get more DSP, larger fonts and more goodies- hopefully a whole new UI if that matters to you. I also suspect an Axe-Fx IV could be released by summers end the way they are aggressively pushing the discounts on the III.

Is this still Axe-FX? Or some new unit from the same company? I really need an intro video to all of this stuff! How it all works etc.
Same company, same sounds but a different form factor. I've got quite a few vids with the FM3 and FM9 on here.
*BEST COMMENT IN HERE. AND WHILE YOU ARE AT IT CLIFF. UPDATE THAT 1980's UI PLZZZZ.*
The Axe-Fx 2 got regular firmware updates with new amps, FX and features for over 8 years
@@LeonTodd True, but not the point since any unit cant get those for infinity, and beyond.
@@ChrisM541 it's probably that as new parts become available that fit the existing architecture they're taking the opportunity to use those.
Turbo means it’ll have more gain, right??
Only if you install an intercooler.
More processing power.
Faster- uses more gas.
It makes more stutututu noises now 😂😂😂
When you go around corners it goes VROOM more
Can i you 2 amp blocks???
No, you'll need to go with the FM9 or Axe-Fx III if you want dual amps.
How do you get the CPU % to display in the bottom corner?
Video editing
5.45 riff, what band is it from ?
RATT - Lay It Down
Ten percent is turbo? No, ten percent is hype.
Does this fm3 mk2 turbo have the same power as the fm9 turbo?
The FM9T is more powerful
Do you prefer Tonex or fractal tones for amps?
As long as original FM3 going to be supported with updates, I don’t care and see no any reason to upgrade. If upgrade, then to FM9, but then its different size and weight factor…
Much like the Axe-Fx III mk1 and the FM9 the firmware updates will work on each revision.
R.I.P FM3 Mark I owners.
I agree.
Line6 Helix exists for years and is still top notch and high customer ranking because Line6 focuses on software optimization of hardware rather than to solve a problem with more hardware.
Thank you. I rest assured my FM3 sounds just as good independent of anything else.
I've had my FM3 since the original wait-list days years ago. Nothing but love for anyone getting some more CPU, but I don't feel like the poor cousin.
A lot of people say Fractal sounds are some of the best, but they seem to have trouble getting stuff out in a timely manner. They never seem to get ahead of the curve competitively...
Dual Amp???
Fm9/Axe-Fx III - Yes. Fm3 - No.
Is 10% enough to upgrade??… mehhh
Ahhh I really want one but the CPU is so underpowered. It's like a 6-7 year old unit now. I want to be able to use dual amps and I think with the next gen, they need to triple the CPU power.
FM9 is what you seek if you want dual amps on the floor
10%……really?
Cue the “Coke vs Pepsi” arguments in the comment section…
MOUNTAIN DEW BRO AMIRITE
Great video! I took quite a lot along for a fractal fm3 mark II starter… pardon the ignorance: what is the guitar your playing?
PRS DGT
When you have that dropped d tuning with dist and chorus it just sounds...so... Gretchen. 80's called and wanted its Rockman sound back....can't it do anything else?
Hahaha yep that's definitely Ty Tabor territory. I've got a few hundred FM3/FM9/Axe-Fx videos up on here so you should be able to hit all the other parts of the tonal rainbow.
Amazed by some of the illogical, uninformed and unfounded comments. I guess…haters gonna hate.🙄
Hey it all feeds the algorithm right?
@@LeonTodd
Good point.👍
Leon, dressed to kill mate...rock star drip, where's the whip...Alice Cooper's got nothing!
dual amps/cabs? nope
Never. See FM9 Turbo and done.
@@MOAB-UT i have an Axe3 and an FM3. the FM3 is massively under-powered and this new one is only 10% more power?
@@geezberry8889 Correct and agreed- massively under powered. Probably the worse value of all their modern units...but nice form factor for a casual cat who plays via his/her coffee table- then it is perfectly good.
If you want a floor unit that is very close to the Axe-Fx III, the FM9 Turbo is it. I would however def. wait or the MKII to get more DSP, larger fonts and more goodies- hopefully a whole new UI if that matters to you. I also suspect an Axe-Fx IV could be released by summers end the way they are aggressively pushing the discounts on the III.
The FM3 does the job perfectly for me live. That's why they make the fm9 I guess.
They have way too many products and variations now!
Increases the CPU usage ......... That's not a good thing Leon ! You obviously do not mean this , 10% more CPU performance is what you meant no doubt .
Correct! Words are hard :p
Hi leon im so so happy if you one day gift me an fractal Unit it like an fm3 im so thankful with you fractal its an amazing Unit really 🎸🌞🌞🌟⭐⭐⭐⭐🌞🌞🌞🎸🎸 Your an amazing artist really
Too little, too late. 10% is nothing. Waitlist is getting old. Bigger scribble strips is nice- about time. FM9 is still far better, more powerful, more switches and not much more $. Future updates will be focused at the FM9 level and above IMHO.
*UI NEEDS TO BE UPDATED ON ALL FRACTAL UNITS ASAP. IT IS NOT GOOD. EDITING ON UNITS IS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE*
This got me
too much chorus man, why?
