I have some shimano stuff and a lot Kastking stuff as well and I love both. The Speed Demon Pro rods are amazing. Also, for what your paying you get some cool options. Rods and reels are like tools. Sometimes it’s fun using higher end stuff, but your often suprised by “cheaper” options.
I have Shimano, KastKing, Piscifun and Garcia Black Max casting reels. The real test of a reel is how well it stands up over thousands of casts/retrieves and fish caught that test the drag. ALL reels need occasional cleaning/maintenance if used in freshwater and cleaning/maintenance after EVERY TRIP to the salt! I've really not given enough time on my reels to determine big differences in performance. I'd wager the Shimano would outlast the cheapo reels over time, but I've been very happy with the cheapo reels' performance in hand. Casting distance, to me, is very low on my list of performance characteristics. All of these reels cast my lures far enough!
Bro, thanks sooo much. I’m wanting a KastKing, I’ve asked my IG friend & followers and they gave me a bunch of mixed emotions!! Im actually looking at the one you’re using haha!! Thanks bro I guess I’ll be buying the KastKing there’s nothing majorly wrong with it from what you’ve shown.. I have the Shimano as well, it’s a freakin work horse lol!! Thanks bro, keep em coming my man
I use a Kastking Royal Legend for wacky worm fishing. 20lb power pro braid, hook, worm and the RL does fine. I'm not really concerned about the distances of my casts only if does what I want it to do. Got 2 of the RL reels, both pretty good.
I'm thinking of getting the Kastking. I've got one of their spinning reels and I really like it, but I just got a nice 7ft berkley rod and I'm planning on throwing this kastking bait caster on it. this was a good review good video. Thanks for putting it up
NO DOUBT ON KASTKING CRIXUS.. by next week my orders arrive.. I''m excited already.. kastking crixus darkstar and kastking blackhawk II.. thnx for the honest reviews! more uploads!
Shimano and Kastking are good reels. One you are paying for the name more than the other. People like to say stuff like you don't need 11 bearings or it is a gimmick but if their Shimano had it it would be a technological marvel all of the sudden. There is no doubt the profit margins on Shimanos and Daiwas are 3 to 4x higher than Kastking. You pay the extra money to the company for the name.
Somewhat agree, but when it comes to bearings, a cheap reel can have 10+, but are cheap bearings, a quality reel can have less bearings, but the bearings are high quality with other quality components which will function and last longer, obviously, it comes down to you get what you pay for, a friend of mine swears by KK, he's burned through 3 reels in 2 years,he got his money worth considering he fishes numerous times a week, but to turn around and replace them every couple of years obviously adds up!!!
You're crazy. With the shimano you're paying for quality. A reel thats going to last a LONG time unless its a rare occasion that it fails quickly. While the Kastking wont last as long unless its a rare occasion that it lasts a long time. I have 4 Kast king reels and 1 shimano 1 Daiwa. Saying you're only paying for a name with shimano is like using a 201 blackberry phone and saying you dont want to pay for the iphone 15 because you're just paying for the name.
I love kingkast equipment it’s great quality. I was an abu/ lew’s guy. I went on vacation and decided to fish bought a cheep kingkast combo now it’s my favorite.
For a cheaper brand I found Kastking to have really good products and never any issues with any of their lines, rods and reels I use from them. I have 2 Crixus reels and they both work great. I didn't even dial them in totally because got them right at the end of the season but looking forward to a full year of fishing with them in 2021.
@@zipzip8239 I haven't had any problems with any of my baitcasterx spinning and spincast I have from them. Happy with all my reels from Kastking at this time.
I have 2 Kastking spinning reels. They're great. I have a Kastking Zephyr BFS baitcaster. I need to spend more time with. I've never had a birds nest that I couldn't get out. The Perigee rod you're using is nice. I have a ultralight one. You probably should have compared 2 more similar reels.
Most baitcasting reels are relatively effective out of the box. The big difference between high quality equipment and low budget shows up when with the warranties are put to the test, the availability of parts are hard to find or very costly, or the company has gone out of business. Next we will see the post-Covid business sustainability models put into practice and prices drop even more.
i disagree with the negatives on the Kastking. I own a lot of their gear and I have never been disappointed with any of it. Most people would be better off having 2 completely different setups say for topwater vs jig/worm fishing at the same price as the one more expensive setup. Good video but you should justify better than “it might” be more prone to anything. That is not objective.
Even me im a kastking fan 100% they perform just like a high end Shimano etc....Shimano needs to get the speed demon pro that reel out performs any Shimano any day
When the better half goes away for the weekend I put my reels in the dishwasher but have never taken one apart . I have a bottle of reel oil from 2012 that I've never broken the seal on
I still have both reels and they still both work! Kastking needed a deep cleaning, and I had to change the drag disc in my Curado. Other than that both work fine!
I only always wonder what the teal color reel was... n boom there now i no.... Ya no i learned to cast overhand from u do to we both cast with left handed reels.....
Only Shimano or Abu, Daiwa. Recently bought a Kastking Spartacus, an unusable one. Spool break can not be adjusted (missing washer?), it was difficult to open up the centrifugal break cover, simply junk or production scrap. No reaction from seller.
yes and no on Shimano. my curado mgl 151 bearings failed after seven months of daily used. They may be better but definitely not 5 times more of the price tag. cheers
7' rod should cast farther Im going to test these 2 reels and rods Everything is completely different except the types of rod and reel. Different lines, different sized rods and if you think grabbing a flatter handle is different than grabbing a rounder handle...
No doubt shimanos will last 20 years plus for me. I sold my curado K. And my curado 70xg.. yes they are solid smooth reels. But i i love the look of the other brands like kastking, 13 fishing, pscifun and they even cast better than my 2 shimanos. Even my abu black max and okuma serano casted further than my shimanos.. maybe i was unlucky but for me who fish maybe 10 15 times a year. I will buy these cheaper awesome reels. And rather give them to someone if im tired of it and i wana test a new one without feeling bad. Its just not worth double or tripple the price for me
Low quality? KASTKING has no backlash and casts smoothly and for a fraction of the price of Shimano. Great drag and function is what quality is all about. Feel? Well that is a personal thing. KASTKING will be the go to reel now that the AMB auto spool control is now available exclusively on KASTKING reels. No thumb control is necessary! KASTKING is now King of the bait casting market! How do I buy stock in this?
Kastking reels very good reels if you get a kastking mega jows elite is very good have one and one shimano curado and the different is shimano big prices

Shimano is made so much better. See where there at in 3 years. They also use crappy bearings. Shimano makes there own in house. Your comparing a 60 dollar reel to 180 dollar reel so that's 3times the cost. The new Curado Ks are even smoother with micro modular gears.Still solid after 4 years
@peter kerns I've had a Stradic handle break off before they were one piece handles and a Symetre lock up.but I also burned the gears as well as my cousin burn the gears out of our Speed demons in less than 6 months. I can say Kast king gave us our money back. All I threw with my speed demon was Hollow bellied frogz, buzz baits and jigs, my Shimanos both broke with fish on and I lost both fish. A Striper around 30 inches in the mouth of the Merrimack in NH and A snook around 10 to 12 lbs. I've burned out 3 Abu Garcia 2 black max one Pro max 2 Quantum tours one spinning one Baitcaster, . They can all break. I have a Kast King 300 Kapstan I really like, but I Mainly use Curado K 2 200s and I ordered a 300k because I.the last 3 years I mainly throw Swimbaits. The 200s are on there 3rd season throwing 2 to 4 oz baits, both still work amazing and the micro modular gears are rugged, super smooth and just flat out hold up to my abuse. I live in Massachusetts now and mainly largemouth fish, but I would throw it in a second for a big Red, Snook, or Striper. The Curado K is the best bait caster for my main purpose of throwing Swimbaits. I also have a Calcutta I use and they all hold up to throwing big baits like 9 in Slammer's, Spro 59 rats, as well as 8, and Huddleston Trout. By far, my favorite reels. Kapstan 300 to throw bigger baits like 10 inch triple trout, Depa 250s, and Hinkle shad. I'll do a full side by side with the Kapstan 300 vs the Curado K 300 and tell you my honest feelings. So far, I don't have to many complaints about the Kapstan but its too bulky. Most Swimbait guys don't use 200 size reels but I get 120 yards of 65 braid on my Curado K 200s, and I usually pair it with a 795 or 806 Dobyns. Awesome set ups. If you're with Kast King,, just giving some honest feedback. Kast king needs to makes an 8ft 1 to 5 or 6 ounce parabolic Swim bait rod.I would definitely be on board.
