For the seat mount in mine I used one of the post mounts that needs a hole drilled in the center, then used that to get the self locking nuts underneath, put super glue on them and grabbed them with the bolt from the top to pull them up and glue them one at a time to the underside. Then once the glue was set just put the post mount on and put the bolts into their slots.
Looking good my friend. Several suggestions I might offer that could help over time. 1. You may want to consider moving the fire extinguisher to a different location. Being right beside the motor that has a built in gas tank, most fires start with the motor and spread immediately to the gas tank, you want to be able to get to it without endangering yourself and before the boat is destroyed. 2. On the front panel of your casting deck, reverse those bolt so the head is to the exterior and then ends of the bolt are inside where they will not snag a line, net, pants etc while fishing or moving about the boat. 3. Make sure you keep those swivel seat bearings lubricated, being exposed to water constantly, they will rust and that modification will lock up tight on you. Keep up the good work and post videos as you continue to upgrade. Peace.
Doug Weaver thank you sir! Im thinking in a year or two the whole thing may get decked. I don’t know what i was thinking w the extinguisher must’ve been in a hurry lol. Its gonna get moved when i get a new and larger motor this spring. Thanks for the advice :) !
@@paddleandhook my pleasure. Keep posting videos as you go, I enjoy seeing how others do their builds. I posted my build yesterday, check it out and let me know what you think. ruclips.net/video/Tt97sR8Kuqw/видео.html
Looks good... might wanna add a corner molding onto that casting deck to prevent the wood from being splintered and would give it a cool look. Gonna try to build one as well soon. Thanks for the vid man. Nice job!!!
Frank Leathers, good call for sure -version 2.0 is in the planning phase now... will be bigger and much better! So far after a season i have had no issues in creeks and the bay, but definitely see much room to improve.
I drilled and tapped the seat to use bolts to mount a base that accepts the square swivel. Bought it at my local cabelas you should check them out. Also lets you remove the seat for storage.
Thanks! And thanks for watching :) New jon boat videos and a new/better build is coming out later this month. Will be a short series of how-to stop leaks, build an aluminum framed deck, run electrical systems, and more!
VIDEO RECORDING TIP: Don't use your phone or camera with the screen facing you... You just keep staring at Yourself instead of looking at the camera lense. Either that or don't stand so close where it's obvious you like looking at yourself.
Brian Clunie for sure!! There will be another video after this winter’s complete redo and jon boat makeover-there have been additions and theres more to come :)
All I did was attach the seat to the swivel bast with the screws supplied. Then rivet the swivel base to an aluminum plate from the underside. The rivet the plate to the seat. That way your not sitting so high.
That Makes sense! This year i completely tore down and did a full/better custom rebuild, decked out and all since this video- sort of like the tbnation guys do.
If you take the nuts off one end of the threaded rod on the clamp mount seat and slide it through and put on the washer and nut again you can get the width (18") you need. Then just pass a ratchet strap under the seat and secure it down onto the clamps that come over the edge of the seat. I am 260lbs. and it holds me fine.
Nice! I've got the Tracker Topper 1542 and I hate how wide the seats are. They're just unnecessarily wide, but there is a removable seat clamp system that fits. I've had my boat for 4yrs but I know I either picked the seat clamp up at Academy or Bass Pro Shop. So where can I find that foam on the deck? I'm wanting to cut out the middle seat and plug the live well (since mine has always leaked). Then I'm going to install a floor down the middle and lengthen my casting deck so it's big enough that I can put a seat on it. I want to get some foam for the floor but really don't want to pay that Sea Dek price.

Bought wood at lowes and fiber glassed it. Then decked it with eva. Its been the best thing ive done to the boat it held up well. Im taking it off in a few weeks and making a bigger//better one with more compartments etc
Looking good. In the future look into a rivet nut tool, it makes life a whole lot easier. I used it for my seat and floor.

Thats a good idea!! I eventually removed my seat and covered the bench in seadek, which looked clean and worked alright. No back support, but thats ok

thanks man! Now i see things i would do differently-mb in version 2.0 in a couple of years :)
You are doing great job!!! Thanks for sharing all this awesome Info 👍👍
Thank you much! Cant wait to get the boat out. Ive been using the kayak lately instead
you can use a rivet tool to put in threaded inserts
Nice one mate - pro tip tho, put fire extinguisher in a different compartment than motor incase of 🔥😁
Good point! You can tell im counting on zero fires or at least one that doesnt flame greater than 14” to the extinguisher lol
Okay that was informative. Thanks for sharing!
Use Plusnuts to mount seats. They go in like a rivet.

I thought the jon boats were made of aluminum but when you were putting that deck plate hatch on it didn't look like it. Cool mods, boat looks good. 👍
Thank you sir! Its a tracker “topper” series, supposed to be aluminum :)

You will find it easier to operate the boat on the right side. Just a thought.
