Yes stock ecu and harness would be fine but you need to modify it for standalone. Many places offer that service. Lsxspecialties has great harnesses already ready to go as well. And yes just adapt the charger fuel system to the LS. probably using AN lines would be easiest
Great vid. I have an LS conversion in an 86 C10 Way too much fuel pressure. The return line on the manifold is blocked off. does the 86 tank have a fitting for a return line so I can run a return less system ? I have the external pump but can't really see any return line.
Hi Jovani It's me again With another problem, I would like to see if you can help. Thanks to you I solved the VATS problem in my LS swap The engine 5.3 its running great. Now my problem its the transmission. I had it rebuilt installed but it doesn't shift. Park, neutral, reverse and drive work but I think it only runs in second and it would not shift. I think it's something that I didn't connect when I worked on the harness. Amy suggestions?
This can be a wiring issue like a low vss signal or a bad vss sensor. It's the sensor in the back of the transmission. Also make sure you check the pink wire on the main plug for 12v. If that isn't it then it might be the tune wasn't set up for a 4l60 and might be configured for a 4l80
@@JovaniDanteGriego Thank you very much for your reply. It should be for the 4l60 because I am using the same PCM that came with the motor and transmission but nevertheless I will double check with the company that took out the VATS. I think it may be bad wiring because the video that I used from RUclips to do the wiring did not mentioned the pink wire from the transmission to the fuse block, I remember everything like coils, injectors etc but I don't recall Transmission wire to the fuse block. I will start there. I didn't cut any wires I should have it there. The pink wire goes to 12 volts? to the fuse block? I will let you know the progress, thank you very much!!!!!
It's preferred to have a baffled tank so your pump doesn't run dry, that or putting the fuel line on the very bottom of the tank and never running it less than a 1/4 tank
How about if I’m running a carb instead of FI at around 4-6 psi without a return? How would I setup the fuel supply? A regulator at the carb set to 4-6 psi? Is this pump to much psi to be regulated down to 4-6?
Yea if your using a carb you'll want like an Edelbrock or mr gasket inline fuel pump you can find at AutoZone that's made for carbs with an adjustable fuel regulator after the pump
This is for a bone stock car. I recommend baffling the tank and using an in tank pump for anything more than stock. The issue with this is you will have to keep your tank more than a 1/4 full to avoid sucking air from the gas sloshing to the back. The tank I used this in had a low sump in the pan that this works for
Thank you for this video. I plan on swapping my truck intake manifold from my 5.3L chevelle to a corvette intake manifold, I am also running an external corvette fuel pump and filter. Do I need to run both fuel pressure regulators on the fuel rail and the regulated corvette fuel pump?

I’ve been trying to look this up but I can’t really find anything on it. In your video you said it sucks instead of blows so I assume you still have the cars stock fuel pump as well
Are you sure your 79 even has a pump in the tank. I bet it's on the side of the engine. So you shouldn't need to worry and can just run an inline pump. however I reccomend a genuine walbro these days. External pumps tend to not last as long as in tank pumps. So buying a genuine will prolong your life
what type of hose do you run on the return are you using high pressure fitting on the return side or just regular clamps , is it high pressure on the return side ?
Return isn't high pressure. I personally use AN 6 through out the whole system but to save money you can use regular fuel hose and clamps on the return side
Do you mount the return/filter before or after the in line pump, before as in closer to the tank in relation to the in line pump, after as in closer to the intake in relation to the pump

@@JovaniDanteGriego I contemplated that. Its definitely able to be done but it's not quite the stock feel of switching tanks and being able to run them. It’s going into a 2016 Charger, so this style of fuel system would work as well, right?
Yes stock ecu and harness would be fine but you need to modify it for standalone. Many places offer that service. Lsxspecialties has great harnesses already ready to go as well. And yes just adapt the charger fuel system to the LS. probably using AN lines would be easiest
Great vid. I have an LS conversion in an 86 C10 Way too much fuel pressure. The return line on the manifold is blocked off. does the 86 tank have a fitting for a return line so I can run a return less system ? I have the external pump but can't really see any return line.
Im not sure on the 86, however, this can be easily remedied by installing one of these into the top of the tank to serve as a return: ebay.us/elB54A
@@JovaniDanteGriego Thanks so much that is very helpful. I don't really want to drop the tank.
Great information dude. Do you offer wiring services? Albuquerque local here and have a LS swap for a 78 TA. TIA!
howd that go for you?
Hi Jovani
It's me again
With another problem, I would like to see if you can help.
Thanks to you I solved the VATS problem in my LS swap
The engine 5.3 its running great.
Now my problem its the transmission.
I had it rebuilt installed but it doesn't shift.
Park, neutral, reverse and drive work but I think it only runs in second and it would not shift.
I think it's something that I didn't connect when I worked on the harness.
Amy suggestions?
Is it 4l60 or 80?
It's a 4L60
This can be a wiring issue like a low vss signal or a bad vss sensor. It's the sensor in the back of the transmission. Also make sure you check the pink wire on the main plug for 12v. If that isn't it then it might be the tune wasn't set up for a 4l60 and might be configured for a 4l80
@@JovaniDanteGriego
Thank you very much for your reply.
Very nice info, thanks!
Do you need a different fuel tank for an ls swap I’m new and looking to get all my info and parts before I start.
So, u don’t modify the factory tank or pump or sending unit at all? Just the in line pump and regulator if necessary?
No one or the other
Jovani Dante Griego if you’re running the fuel pressure regulator on the stock rail how do you run a fuel return line?
External fuel pump ? Mounts to the chasis ?
Yes
Ok thank you im ls swapping my 83 k5 just looking around for some type of list to go of off
@@jesseg573 if your doing a square body go check out my other videos I have a whole series on what to do
@@JovaniDanteGriego ok sounds good, thank you.
@@JovaniDanteGriego also i just found on 1 pf ur videos u have a full link to every part w/ table of contents i was looking up have on walbro fuel pump then below it, you have a fuel sending unit, i need both or either or ?
I’m planning on doing an LS swap on a 79 trans am, would I be able to run an inline fuel pump along with the original fuel pump in the tank so I don’t have to spend 400$ on a in tank fuel pump? I’ve been trying to look this up but I can’t really find anything on it. In your video you said it sucks instead of blows so I assume you still have the cars stock fuel pump as well
Are you sure your 79 even has a pump in the tank. I bet it's on the side of the engine. So you shouldn't need to worry and can just run an inline pump. however I reccomend a genuine walbro these days. External pumps tend to not last as long as in tank pumps. So buying a genuine will prolong your life
@@JovaniDanteGriego alright thank you I appreciate it!
what type of hose do you run on the return are you using high pressure fitting on the return side or just regular clamps , is it high pressure on the return side ?
Return isn't high pressure. I personally use AN 6 through out the whole system but to save money you can use regular fuel hose and clamps on the return side
Do you mount the return/filter before or after the in line pump, before as in closer to the tank in relation to the in line pump, after as in closer to the intake in relation to the pump
After pump, it regulates the amount of fuel coming from.pump
Yo dude love 💘your Channel
Thank you for sharing your experience with someone like me that Does not know much about this stuff
I have a 1976Dodge dart swingers slant six looking forward to install a Junkyard 5.3 engine
Help me with this Please your videos always Motivate me Thank you
I'm going to get rid of the fuel injection I don't know much about that it's going to be running on carburetor Blow through
Harley What kind of system should I use to feed it gas
Please help Danny from New York thank you 😉
So if you are going carb route you will only need about 6psi which any of those external rail mounted fuel pumps at AutoZone or O'Reilly's will do. Then you will want to regulate it down depending on the carb you use
Hey on the ls truck intake manifold is the fuel supply line usually a 3/8” or 5/16”?
Supply is 3/8 return is 5/16 im pretty sure
Great video, help out for my build
I did a 2004 v6 Silverado to v8 conversion using a 04ntahoe as donor vehicle. Kept the og fuel line system . Now the issue i have is that my truck measures fuel the oppisite ..lol have you had any issues like this?
What do you mean measures the opposite?
@@JovaniDanteGriego it reads empty when the tank is full
It could be some crossed wires or the sending unit isn't grounded properly
@@JovaniDanteGriego thank you
Hi Jovani,
I am doing a LS swap and I watch your video on how you set up the fuel system. I did buy one of the electric pumps options you mention. I went for the Walbro 392 and 255 LPH.
I red some comments and on one of them the subscriber mentions that he used it on a 5.3 L and worked great, that's why I assumed it would work on mine which is a 5.3 L with a dual line "return".
The engine starts but doesn't stay running it dies 2-3 seconds after!
I tried spring engine starter fluid and it runs as long as I keep spring.
Do you have any suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Hi did you flash your pcm to remove vats
@@JovaniDanteGriego
I bought it from ebay and they told me it was flash and they asked for the vin #
Do you think it maybe the computer?
Sorry for the late reply!
@@carlosgomez2323 yea it sounds a lot like VATS the vehicle anti theft software. It will crank and fire then immediately die.
@@JovaniDanteGriego
Thanks for the advice.
I will check the computer vats.
I will keep you posted.
I have an intake from a 2002 Yukon which has 2 lines on the intake so do I just run a line to the pump and another to the return and don’t need the fuel filter with the regulator. Thanks in advance
That's correct
Great stuff thx
I see that you are using the intake out of a truck, I also noticed that another video you put an LS motor in your 65 Chevelle, was that able to fit under the stock hood?
I haven't tested the hood clearance yet. The front clip is still off that car . But from the looks of it I think I'll have to shave a little bit of the plastic tabs from the intake
@@JovaniDanteGriego Will you be doing a video on the Chevelle build at any time?
I am also curious if the trans mounting is a issue, no one seems to talk about that part of is. I have a 66 El Camino That I am working on. (So I at least have the car..lol)
Thanks
@@bradplowman3271 yea the Chevelle's next on the list I'm gathering parts for it .I'm going to be re using the trans crossmember so we'll see how it goes
@@JovaniDanteGriego I will be watching it close, I just bought my car a few days ago, so maybe by the time you are done with yours, I will be starting mine. :)
I look forward to asking you a ton of questions. :)
@@JovaniDanteGriego I just put a 5.3 with a 700r4 in a '68 C10, I used the stock trans crossmember just had to slide it back a little and redrill the mounting holes, the mount was the same. They haven't changed much on the automatics and I always try to mount the engine/trans as far back as possible so I'm always moving the trans crossmember.
So if you have a return style intake you do not need a external regulator the fuel rail regulates it?
Return style: no external regulator
Return less: need fuel regulator, you can use the Corvette style
Thanks a million man
Good stuff man
Have you ever setup an LS fuel system where the vehicle ran dual tanks, would I be better off doing two fuel pump systems or can I utilize one somehow. 84 GMC C30
I have not set up duel tanks. However I do believe a few people have. Just do a search for it
@@JovaniDanteGriego thanks for the quick reply. I havent found any in depth build threads on it. I'll keep digging though. Worse case I'll conjure something up custom. Great video though! Thanks!
There is a method I've seen but kind of a rig. You basically put each fuel pump in each tank on a 3 position switch. Up is one tank middle is so pumps down is the other tank
@@JovaniDanteGriego I contemplated that. Its definitely able to be done but it's not quite the stock feel of switching tanks and being able to run them. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to run a dual pump setup and change the electronic diverter valve one that can handle 255Liters per hour and to use a relay for pump switching power. Gonna have a bit of a challenge doing it but it should work. Doing so I will probably be better off changing to the single input fuel rail so I dont have to run another diverter to each tank for the return.
Whole lot to think about just to have the factory feel lol
Thanks for the great tips doing a ls swap on my channel
I ordered the fuel line fittings you listed. Is the fuel line the same from the amazon link as the ebay link? Which is better I need a 20ft roll asap, just waiting on a reply
Standard AN6 is all the same size unless you go with ptfe
@@JovaniDanteGriego last braided I bought didnt fit my fittings and the braid kept fraying out. That why I'm asking if they both fit the fittings the same, im trying to just use the same u did. So I don't have the same issue again
It should work. When ever I buy AN6 no matter where I get it from it works. It's a standard size
@@JovaniDanteGriego so you think I should be good with the 20ft ebay link you posted? I already bought the fittings you linked in the description
@@julz9272 you should be I won't guaruntee anything since sometimes the parts links aren't the exact ones I used, different sellers etc. But like I said AN6 should work with AN6. Make sure you look up videos on AN hose assembly before you get started. A good method to geth the fittings on in putting a impact on low with a socket that fits and spinning the fitting on the hose. I have an older video of assembling some AN hoses on my channel
Very detailed. Thanks !

Should I add this external fuel pump and also upgrade my intake fuel pump?
You only need one or the either, you may be better of just adding the internal version of the pump to your tank
Jovani Dante Griego copy thanks for the knowledge. keep up LS videos Im learning 🤙🏽 hopefully one day I can swap one into my 96.ss
Hey Jovani, I have a Colorado that has a single fuel line for the fuel tank (no return line). The intake manifold for the 5.3 that I put in it is a return style system, which obviously has the two lines and doesn't match the truck that it's going into. Do you have any recommendations? My thought is that I can either drill a hole in the tank for a return line, or just find a returnless style manifold and replace the one I have. Let me know what you think. Thanks for the great video!
Have you looked at the tank? It most likely has a return. Every fuel injected vehicle is using a return I think
if im running just a cammed set up on my 5.3 would this still work?
Yea stock components should be fine
Part2 please
Do you have a link for the adapter you used on the fuel rail?
Heres the 3/8 one amzn.to/2Y2eJQU
Here is the 5/16 one amzn.to/2XEQsfO
so the fuel line you connecting to has to be flared to use these connectors? how do i go from my fuel line sending unit on my fuel tank that just has steel lines coming off it with no flares just a smooth line to these an lines?
You can skip the rubber hose over and use a fuel injection clamp
Where do you get you LS motors
Facebook marketplace usually
So the corvette filter returns from filter to tank. Correct? Thanks for the tips.
Yea it's a filter/regulator
Jovani Dante Griego thank you. Thinking about a 5.3 in a 9 passenger 56 Chevy wagon. Gas tanks are rare for these glad I found one.
