Love the Book of Life. It has two different animation styles. Xibalba and La Muerte are the true power couple.
It was sooo good!
it has 4 animation styles, the 3d modeled real people(school children, xibalba, la muerte and waxman ), the 3d modeled wooden figurines(Maria, Manolo and most characters in the story), the 3d modeled skeletons of the land of the dead) and 2d color block animation for lore.

It seems similar to coco because this came out before coco so the creators of coco took inspiration of this
Actually production for coco began before this was released. They seem similar because they are both based off the Mexican holiday, The Day Of the Dead. The only other similar thing is that the main characters both want to be musicians, but their families don't want them to be. That is where the similarity ends. Neither movie copied the other.

Obviously they wouldn’t have changed the entire driving plot to music cause that’s 90% of the movie. So I chalk it up to be purely coincidental. Though The Book of Life will always have a special place in my heart as a childhood(ish) favorite (“ish” because I didn’t see it until a while after it’s release)
If I remember correctly both directors or someone related to both movies are close friends as well and they drew inspiration some each other? I saw thag somewhere but can't entirely remember the relation so forgive me if that isn't entirely correct

The Book of Life 2014 came out before Coco 2017 in which most likely Pixar and Disney were very inspired by The book of life in which they used some similar plot threads
I just cant get over of how beautiful this movie is, specially La Muerte, one of my first crushs (as a bissexual girl). I think you guys would love encanto, big hero 6, how to train your dragon (my favorite triology that also has two series and some hollydays spinoffs), Mario movie, barbie movie and moana

nooo!!!! the song isn't a lullaby its how manolo as a bullfighter asked for its forgiveness because in mexico, they have this culture of bullfighting and how bulls was abused for centuries!! listen to the lyrics "your royal blood was never meant to decorate this sand, you suffered great injustice, so have thousands before you, i offer an apology and one long overdue" ARRGHHHH that song always gets me..soo yea he didn't killed the bull nor defeated it, he FREED IT! that's how he won.

The plot mostly doesn’t feel like coco at all, I don’t really see the inspiration-
this movie came out 3 years before coco
I logre coco and the book of life, as a mexican both represent my culture even tho they have nothing similar except for both talking about “day of the death” like halloween ones that have a million of films.

The editing could use some improvements. 😅 I know copyright is an issue, but when you cut off a scene either in the beginning, middle, or ending of a sentence, it can be jarring. Especially if you do this more than five times. And when you pull the side face cam to full screen, it’s best to not use stretching. Just some tips; I ain’t gonna force ya.

While apparently both this and coco were in The works at the same time and came out close together. It was actually confirmed that the creator's of the book of life had concepted and started this first. It is a shame. They are both great movies in my opinion. If only they had come out a bit further apart. This might not have gone as unnoticed
