- Part 3 of DVD "Ella Fitzgerald - Something to Live For". Writer-director Charlotte Zwerin's documentary on jazz vocal icon Ella Fitzgerald was originally produced for Public Television's American Masters series. The 1999 film, narrated by Tony Bennett, shocases the "First Lady of Song" through archival footage of early performances and television appearances.
I was so happy to discover Ella on my own in my early 20s. Listening to her puts me in a mood and transports me back to a time I never actually experienced myself. That's how magical she is.
Everything about Ella's voice is perfection, or as close as a humanly possible to perfection.
I absolutely love Ella Fitzgerald such an iconic singer.
To love Ella is to endlessly receive free transport to a land of enchantment. All you need do is listen...and let yourself go.
I can't thank God enough for granted us with such a talent as Ella,,,whenever I hear a single note from her, I get misty !
Absolute perfection!
The absolute best singer ❤ in the world number one
Ella forever, thank you Ella for being you and sharing your gift to the world
At its best (which I think was from roughly 1950-1961), the voice was immaculate. I don't think any other singer combined the purity of tone, agility and versatility that she did to such remarkable ends in her prime.
This is amazing, I love her so much!!!
Thank you for this beautiful documentary of such a beautiful legendary talented singer. RIP Ella Fitzgerald.
I know people say, the one and only, and there will never be another, but honestly, I’m 77 so don’t have many years on this earth, but I have to say that if, in years to come anyone comes along the same as Lady Ella, I would love to hear it. She really has to be a “one off”. When I die, although I am not religious, if there is a heaven and I obviously hope I get there, I would bow at the fee of Miss Ella.
What a classey lady❤.
Her voice is perfect.
Thanks for uploading this on RUclips

I'll take Ella over Nicki and Iggy any day of the week. No one touches the First Lady of Song in passion and talent.
Tenía un registro vocal asombroso❤
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU ELLAAAAAAAAAAA FITZGERAAAAAALLLLLLLDDDDDDDDDD
Oh Ella. Your song starting at 2:48 is breathtaking.
wow SWEET GEORGIA BROWN!
Who disliked this? Jealous much?
is Ella, what more can i say!
Me encantaría que hubiera un documental de Ella subtitulado al español, ya que my english it's not so good💔 Love for Ella♥️
THANK YOU!
Love, Love Ella ! XOXOXO
I love the story of how she got introduced to Chik Webb. She was just chilling by herself wearing boys shoes and eating a hot dog, and got brought into Child's dressing room by the director of the show who'd heard her sing. Can you imagine that?? I think it's so cute
A 'rat piss on cotton', I am gonna use that
the 6 people who dislike this are probably are jealous they do not have her talent and are suckers
She is pitch perfect. A friend of mine met her when she was a little girl. Her father played guitar for Ella, and reportedly the musicians tuned their instruments to her voice. PITCH PERFECT! AND EFFORTLESS! Thank God she didn't try to become a dancer. Not with that voice.
Ella freestyle was always on point because she stayed forgetting words lol.
likessonny71... HAHA! Love your comment! :-) I get misty too! ! ! :-)
@MsVarrie85

It's always been Ella And Sarah
"for coloreds only" such ignorance!
Hasn't changed much since
America.
How disgusting how these black people were treated.
