Jiggin Bluegills & Learning Where Fish MOVE!

In the latest episode of Wisconsin Fisherman I headed to a lake in search of new fish! I was surprised at the caliber of bluegills in the lake however i was looking for crappies I couldn't pass up a quick smash fest on some gills. I also watched them as they moved and learned how the relate to the underwater points.

What I could do if I had that technology is I'd find the depth they're at, then drill all or most of my holes ahead of time in that depth range. That way I can sneak up on them later and not spook them when drilling holes to try and follow them. That still won't work all the time, but I'd bet it's more effective than drilling a hole right on the school of fish, then trying to fish them immediately after the hole is drilled.

Thanks Kyle, some great lessons on just how mobile the schools are. I don't have a livescope, but have understood how mobile the fish can be via observations with an old-fashioned Vexilar and an Aquavu.

Great video! It has been a challenging year from an ice perspective here in WI but with fish more active we are certainly learning more about behavior for those slow times.
