    May have to check some of those lakes out.
    Still like Pelican Lake between Rhinelander and Antigo. 3 of our big fish came off that lake. 16.5 crappie. Sons 6lb smallmouth. And pb musky at 52 inches.

      We did fish that pelican lake through the ice. Nice lake, but it was tough fishing when I was there. Obviously its hard to get a good feel for a lake by fishing it once, so I will take your word for it. All those lakes in that area are really good, so I would like to try it again in the summer and see how I do.

    Very interesting countdown 🎣🎣. I laughed when you described the musky porpoising. I see them with their mouths open quite a bit on Webster lake in Indiana. Definitely don’t know why they do it but it reminds me of when you are in a room full of people and the family dog walks by scraping his butt on the carpet not giving a damn who is watching 😂 and with a goofy look on his face.

    Nice. I'm real partial to NW WI lakes. Sometimes you don't see many people, which is fine by me. NE WI has become little Canada, and crowded. Floating bogs can be great too, keeping the bottom open if they move. Great job on this, we're lucky to have so many cool little hole-in-the-wall lakes. As a kid I caught my PB perch on Tomahawk, limit of walleyes on Mepps 3&4.

    I’ve owned a home on Round Lake (Hayward) since 2003. This lake is loaded with fish. It is a world class smallie fishery and also has monster muskies. This list is remiss by not including Lac Courte Orielles which has world record Muskies and other species. It’s 5,000+acres so there are plenty of places to get lost. I mean this respectfully, but the fastest way to see the quality of fishing go down is to make videos like this, or telegraph spots like I've seen you do in your videos. Near me, I've seen medium-sized lakes get to the point where the parking lots are literally closed due to excessive traffic after videos/pictures of catches surfaced. Predictably, you can imagine what happens to the fishing or the hot spots you put in the research and time to find. I don't think you have bad intentions, but I also don't suspect you've seen what broadcasting GPS spots can do to a lake and the fishing.

    • @GoMidwestFishing
      @GoMidwestFishing  10 месяцев назад +1

      I can't disagree with that. The fishing pressure has really gone up over the years. I also believe that there are just more people fishing. All these people will be on the lakes regardless if I make a video or not. My goal with making videos is to provide people with more info about lakes that they are going to fish anyway. All the lakes I fish are easily found on any map and have public access, so they are not secrets. I think we all would like to see less people on the lakes, but since that's probably not going to happen, I hope more people will practice catch and release. I appreciate your concern, and thank you for voicing your opinion.

      Castle rock is a cool lake. I haven't fished it yet, but I did take a party pontoon out there. We anchored by that island along with a hundred other boats and had a good time.

      I just did a camping/fishing trip on the wisconsin river dam just under castle rock. Stayed at mirror lake state park and set up the thermal ice shanty as a tent since it was lows of 22°f. First time fishing it and bought minnows from the boat launch/bait shop that's next to the electrical company. Had to fish the side of the dam with no current since some people were already fishing in the current. Ended up catching my first musky that was 39.5 inches and then shortly after my buddy caught his second musky of his life (and biggest) and his was 43.5 inches and a bit fatter than mine. Right around 8 o'clock we decided to head back to camp and on the last cast my buddy caught a FAT 24.5 inch walleye. All the fish were let go with care and stayed in the net until time to take some pictures. Great time, and Great fishing spot. Will go back again.

    Surprised Lake Geneva didn't make the list. After all it is 1 of the top lakes that studies show could break the walleye record for wisconsin. Dnr recently handled a 14.2 pound walleye in 2015 and handled numerous 12-13 pound walleye in that same year. Not to mention it has almost every other game fish/pan fish including musky, lake trout, and sturgeon. Only downside is that its a popular boating lake for locals and 🤢 Illinois "people" 🤮

      I haven't fished many lakes in Southern WI yet. I'm planning a trip down there this year though, so the reason Lake Geneva isn't on the list, is because I have not fished it yet. It sounds like an amazing lake though. I will try to get there soon.

      Yep, that's correct. WI counts any body of water 5 acres or bigger as a lake, which is why most "lakes" don't have public access. Now the real debate is, does MN or WI have more lakes? (hint: it comes down to the criteria used to consider a body of water a lake)

With proper fish management and people abiding by the laws and rules. It will be fine. Thank you for your info. Maybe one day I’ll take the few hour ride for me to one of these beautiful lakes.

    Wow, posting content like this will make these Wisconsin lakes the "WORST" fishing lakes. Stop making the quality of fishing go down for your own personal satisfaction of gaining likes, views, follows, and it is very selfish. Look up Matt Rinellas Podcast, he's right about what's happening to overcrowded hunting, fishing, and poor quality.

    Thanks for destroying some hidden gems. Now the bost ramps and parking lots will be jamed up with people, trucks, and boats. The fisheries will be wiped out. They are not sustainable to that kind of pressure and will take years to recover if they ever do. Too many wonderful lakes have been desamated by over fishing 😢
