  • Part 1 or 2.
This first part is a long, step by step process for accessing the leaky water pump from my 2004 Sprinter Van. There is a significant amount of work to get to the water pump but it was not difficult. I tried to leave as much item in tact to reduce unnecessary disassembly to get to the water pump. It took a good full Saturday to get to the water pump. I did not pre-order the pump just to make sure I can actually remove it. Apologize for the outdoor noise as the Sprinter does not fit in my garage. I had to split the video into 2 parts because it was so long.
    Tools used.
standard Torx covering T30 to T50
reverse torx E10 to E12 (Star socket)
    metric hex socket
    metric allen driver
    Electric or pneumatic impact wrench
The antifreeze will need to be flushed afterwards.
Part 2 will cover the replacement water pump and re-assembly. I ended up replacing all the pulleys.

You can leave everything on as a one-piece unit enough for you to get the fan and the fan clutch off

Hi. I am not a professional mechanic but it took me at least 6 hours. But if I had to do it again, it should be much less as I now know which pieces to remove first. An experience mechanic may only need an hour to get to the water pump.
