I was highly entertained by the roasting of unrealistic and cringy books. 😆 But it is actually refreshing to listen to genuine book reviews para di naman sayang ang mga pera natin haha. You guys made me laugh at, "P1000 ang mahal!" Ang relatable niyo! I enjoy reading a lot and half of the fun is looking for pre-loved books at Carousell. Ps. Love Theo and Bailey's cameo!
what an excellent topics so sweet hosts not just fabulously witty but had an enormous level of comprehensive projection within the topics lovelove love more to come godbless
Wow love this "all about book" content. Dahil dito narevisit ko tuloy ang nananahimik at natutulog kong Goodreads 🤣 Yung Happy Place winner pa siya sa Goodreads nung 2023 😄 Di talaga dapat maniwala at dumipende entirely sa mga reviews 😂 And kanyakanya nga talaga ng taste ang mga tao...or readers in that case 🤭
Thank you for the honest reviews. They’re really very helpful. I recommend reading Casey Mcquiston’s books especially Red White and Royal Blue. Casey’s books are totally heartfelt, hopeful and swoony. The main characters are really fleshed out and distinctly unique with their own voices. Their stories are truly unforgettable.
Omgggg thank you for sharing the booktok books that you guys disliked 😂 i have sooooo many booktok books that I DNFd this year, it’s so disappointing. I love this episode so much❤
I love love!!My current read is The Affair by Nicole Strycharz and I love how it tackles facets to religious piety and the multifaceted facets to affairs and it hurts so bad because they're written to be so... Flawed but compelling; which is why it hurts so much na the two main characters' spouses were hurting them and how the main characters hurt themselves by putting up with their spouses' affairs (and why it made sense na they.ended up together) ... Kaya I've been jonesing for feel-good romance reads so I'll add all these to my TBR (Ill be reading Betty soon! Love ya kweens!
I would love to recommend the following: Cleopatra and Frankenstein by Coco Mellors The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett The Girl with the Louding Voice by Abi Dare Elena Knows by Claudio Piñeiro River Sing Me Home by Eleanor Shearer Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan P.s these are not romance novels 😅 i just want to recommend them
The Winner's Curse Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski (war setting, a spy fell in love with the enemy's general's daughter), Six of Crows Duology, Pachinko by Min Jin Lee (more on family setting, tackles more about the consequence of her first love/mistake), All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr (not so focus on the romance but the way it's written is so lyrical), Circe by Madelline Miller
I agree with Taylor Jenkins Reid 💝 I recommend Carrie Sotto is back (yes, she was one of the mistress of the father sa Malibu Rising) it's nice since it talks about her journey as an athlete going back after her retirement, her relationship with her father, and a little sprinkle of love but it's more of her journey talaga 💛💛
I would highly recommend... -As long as the Lemon Trees Grow -Turtles All the way Down - A Thousand Heartbeats - Every Last Word - Persuasion - Pride & Prejudice - Love & Gelato - Seven Year Slip - Dead Romantics 🤗
I recently watched a video featuring Catriona and Nicole visiting Bayang Marikit. In the video, Catriona appeared aloof and unapproachable, never smiling and coming off as a bit of a snob. On the other hand, Nicole was warm and friendly, smiling and engaging with everyone she met. It seems to me that Nicole is more genuine, whether the camera is rolling or not.
there’s a fil-am author named Sarah Smith/Echavarre and she writes romance. They’re cute but some have smut so if that’s your cup of tea, I definitely recommend. They’re great love stories 💗

You may want to read Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. It's a genre-bending book but definitely the most romantic book out there. It's a tome but you wouldn't feel its hefty as it's an easy read. It's part of a series but can be read as a standalone. I hope you could accommodate spooky read recommendations for the Halloween season.
Omg I love you both! I thought I was the only one who didn't love Archer's Voice!😭🤗 Someone commented on Filipino authored books, we do have some good romances. Please try Anj Miranda's books, I loved those ☺️
Usually nagcri-cringe talaga ako sa romance genre and couldn’t finish even audiobooks😂 But i enjoyed Taylor Jenkins Reid books esp 7 Husbands and Daisy Jones ❤
I enjoyed this episode! I've been wanting to start reading books but don't know where to start considering the money I'd have to spend. Guess I'll start with "The Light We Lost". Thanks guys!
Another book talk. I love it. And I am a romance girly so I can't miss this out. I didn't like TJR's "Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" as much as the others, but I agree with "One True Loves" and "After I Do". I loved these two books. I would recommend "A Love Letter To Whiskey" (the 5th anniversary edition, because it has the guy's POV and extended chapters). The story spans over 10 years, starting during high school days when the characters met each other. It's an angsty read with a "right person, wrong time" trope.
A book series that I read when I was younger and loved and still love to this day and would re read occasionally is the "Penryn and the End of Days" by Susan Ee. In contemporary romance try Amy Harmon books they're so well written. They're poetic, lyrical while still managing to be grounded so they're not hard to digest. It's like Coho but thoughtful and delve into traumas in a more sensitive and realistic way.
Ms. Cat and Ms. Nicole, I have some recs for you. 😅 I am not a big romance reader, but here are three that made me read romance books. 1. Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson- both are teenagers but any adult can read if they wanna take a "detour" from adulting and feel the fluffiness of young love again. 😂 2. Before We Were Strangers by Renee Carlino- Just read it. You'll enjoy it more if you are a Jeff Buckley fan. 3. Ghosts by Dolly Alderton- More on contemporary and a lil bit of romance. Highly relatable esp to those single adults navigating through reality, job, friendship, aging parents, and romance.
Enjoying this video! I feel the same way about sa Happy Place, was supposed to read it for a book club, mga over half ng book yung nabasa ko but I really couldn't get into it, so I dnf-ed it nalang. It was my first Emily Henry pa, I was kinda hyped pa at first kasi parang everyone is enjoying her books. Maybe I'll try to read her other works sometime in the future. 🤷♂️
same thought with the Happy Place. I didn't enjoy it at hinahype kasi ni Haley Pham. Pero depende kasi siguro sa trip mo if magugustuhan mo siya. pero for me, i trust Cat and Nicole's recos!
Favorite line/s from Betty (I think they appeared on the same paragraph): "Don't let it happen to you, Betty. Don't ever be afraid to be yourself. You don't want to live so long only to realize, you ain't lived at all." " It ain't easy bein' a woman, Li'l Cherokee. It especially ain't easy bein' a woman who spends her life afraid of who she really is." So much trauma unpacked in this story that I do not want to remember (at all), but Betty's grit and bravery and ofcourse her father - who I think is my favorite character in this book, will always stay with me.
I don't personally read a lot of romance (I'm more of a thriller and historical fiction reader) but so far the ones I like are The Rosie Project and Love Hypothesis. I am currently reading Just For The Summer.
We have the same reason why I read romance novels: the reliability! I love ‘realistic’ romance novels with multilayered characters, and abhor the ones that glorify toxic tropes in a storyline that doesn’t make any sense 😅
A man that communicates well? Sorry Queen Cat but they dont make men like that anymore hahaha Agree with TJR! I love One True Loves! "True love doesnt always last. It doesnt always have to be for a lifetime. And that doesnt mean it's not true love. "
tawang tawa ko sa Happy Place kasi same thoughts!! 😭🙋🏻♀️ nakaka frustrate basahin 😫 I loved Archers Voice!! Pero yes next episode yung mga hyped sa booktok pero disappointing 😅 any dark romance ❌❌❌
I feel the same way sa mga tiktok hyped books. 😅 sorry! Now my trust meter on these two lovely ladies is up in the bar. My recommendations: talking at night by claire deverly. Writers and lovers by lily king.
i know this is a YA book, but one of my favorite “romance/love story” novels is Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell… 🤍 currently reading novels by japanese authors though, hope you will have an episode dedicated to such. ☺️
I used to be a bookworm and i'd buy so many books. But most of the time i get disappointed with the stories so i never finish most of them. It was such a waste of money. So now i don't buy books na, i mostly read on kindle or ebooks cos it's cheaper and most of the time i read the samples first and if it's interesting enough, that's the only time I buy the book.

Hindi siguro expressive si Sam Milby kaya mag hugot si Catriona hahaha. Laking tulong talaga pag same wavelength kayo ng partner mo. Look for someone that can match your energy talaga. Anyways I read Ali Hazelwood for light romance.
Hello Cat and Nicole! I’d like to recommend Before We Were Strangers and After The Rain by Renée Carlino. ❤ I hope you’ll notice my comment! I love your content! More episodes please! 🎉
So I read the sequel to Yours Truly which is Just For The Summer. Sounds like how you guys described, its romantic and all that but realistically speaking this story is not possible. I mean this kind of guy doesn't exist LOL

The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett
The Girl with the Louding Voice by Abi Dare
Elena Knows by Claudio Piñeiro

also I really loooove the Seven Days of June thanks for that recommendation!!
The way Nicole fused two words into one "shtuff." LOL. 🤪
Bravo to cat and Nicole! Please continue on doing this book club. I believe you are the first Filipinos and duo. There’s depth to your podcast.

Aliw kay Nicole, super relatable ng reactions niya 😂🤍
I would die if Cat tried any dark romances hahahaha the idea of her reading haunting adeline is so funny 😭😭
agree on taylor jenkins reid! tjr was a level up for me while her books are not so hard to read
I highly recommend The Seven Year Slip!! It's my first romance read in years. I swear it's so good! Give it a chance pls😬
I second this! I love it so much 😭
Hi besties
Seconding this! I love Filipiniana. Hopefully, the books they’d share are great.
I recommend Before Ever After by Samantha Sotto 🥰

PERFECT PAGKAGAWA SA INYO EE ALAM KO
I love Cat’s blouse. Hope someone can tell where it is bought from. ❤
Just curious, would you still read other Emily Henry's books? Or the Happy Place left a traumatic mark? 😅
We tried book lovers and we liked the banter there. But given the price point niya din, parang not worth trying hehe
