thanks for this very well made video about the subject, very well explained. your english is easly understandable and you dont speak too fast, that's a nice point for non english natives.
Love the Pood...18 pd gun with the reload of a 12 pdr and the punch of a 24 pdr...my favorite cannon. But rare now, I hope during the holidays the gift more. You answered so many questions in my mind that I now can arm a ship properly now.
This was really excellent. Thank you for taking the time to do this so thoroughly. It answered lot of questions I'd wanted properly answered for quite a long time and also gave me food for thought on loadout experimentation. Cannon weight (and cargo weight) don't factor in to speed anymore in the current version of NA. I just double checked on an Indiaman and different cannon loadouts showed the same speed. So Congreves don't even have that going for them anymore. I wonder what it is about the wimpy Obusiers that's supposed to make them create more deadly splinters? Wikipedia says they could fire explosive shot and canister rounds, so maybe that's being modeled. Interesting that you went for the sabicu (s) planking rather than the white oak (s) on the teak (s) build. Sabicu gives you 4% more hit points but 2% less thickness than WO. That seems to me like a wise decision, but some actually prefer the WO thickness--opinions vary just like play styles. Again, thanks for doing a great job on clearly explaining the complex relationships among the damage model variables in this awesome sim.
yeah I am glad you checked on the Congreves situation. I was not sure if that was going to be the case which just means they are even more useless now then before. as for the sabicu, its all about if that extra HP will help you survive a few more shots. if close in combat the extra thickness will not save you. but its all player preference.
From memory in the Napoleonic wars Congreves were British rockets. I think this is a rocket battery, possibly with fire damage? The Edinorog was a rare Russian carriage cannon. A pood is a Russian agricultural unit of measurement, and describes the weight. 1/2 pood or 1 pood. A pood is about 35 pounds. It's an 18pdr so likely really a 1/2 pood in the game. It's 1780s technology.
be understanding that these are the names of the cannons in the game. of course in real life it was Medium to short cannon, long guns and Carronade cannons. a long with some small varients of iron or brass. but in the game the developers made congreves, navys, bloomfields, longs, mediums and carros, and yes poods. none that do what they really did in real life.
@@RommelsAsparagus um it is. only because they game will reset soon. exact date is unkown. but it will be wiped. players dont lose any XP. due to everyone waiting the game does not have a lot of players at the moment but still lots of content going around.
It looks like blomefield is an upgraded medium and navy gun is an upgraded long. If thats true the navy gun and blomefield tests at the end maybe mistakenly swapped.
That was a really nice presentation, however, it would be nice to see the diversity of the guns as well. Which guns can do double shot, chain, and grape. Not all guns have the capability to shoot all ball types.
for 1st rates (Santi, vic, Ocean) on the top deck it always going to be preferred that you put Carronades, the longs just dont do the same dmg and neither will pen at long distances. but yes on the top deck you should only ever put carronades or long guns. the bottom deck you can switch out for meds if you want.
definitely depends on the type of cannon, mods, books. without anything even i can see the difference in reload time from 42pd long to 42pd med. also make sure you have enough crew on ship.
@@Rook2299 Sorry. I mean the ship's speed. So lighter guns don't make a difference in ship speed anymore, I think, since the devs made the last speed change (cargo weight doesn't matter, etc.)

The most comprehensive cannon guide out there that I'm aware of. Probably your best video to date. Cheers.
Need a refund this damn game sucks ass
The 32pdr longs, especially on the ingrammanland, are absolutely devastating!

Cool, new to the game, and happy to learn
Ngl I knew nothing about cannons and now I feel like a expert
So far my logic on cannons has been
Boom boom Harder, boom boom better, boom boom faster makes boom stronger.

Awsome work mate 👍keep it up.

its called netlify. or just type in naval action map
Hey Rook what's up .what you think about weight does it matter much? Thank you
not any more. unless they changed something recently the weight of cannons does not matter anymore.
i got the Hercules triny to figer out what canons to do with it i got Naval a few days ago and engjoying it

Blomefield is long gun with shorter reload.

all cannons can shoot all types. except for carros. carros cant shoot double anything. so not much diversity

I bought the Hercules 5th rate ship and medium cannons when I click and drag to cannon slots they won't stay in the slot please advise?
make sure they are the right size of mediums and the correct amount.
Isnt it better when you put only longguns abd caronnades on the top on 1rates ?

Why not put Portugal in the game?
That's what I have been saying this whole time. Put them in and take China out
Is this still relevant or too many changes to game now?
its kinda relevant. the main changes now are that the cannon does dmg based on the size of cannon. longs are still better than mediums.
it helped thax bro
This video is actually outdated. The cannons work much differently in the game at this time
