Great vid, so really 3rd/4th rate is the sweet spot to counter this type of play as you still have reasonable mobility. Scary when you are in the big ship - an expensive loss. What was the xp for that type of win? Cheers 🍺
Yeah I would say that is a sweet spot, but really this can be applied to all classes. If I remember correctly the xp was about 1500, but I have done the same thing in a Wasa and received close to 2000. I sunk an ai l’Ocean in my buc today and got 2500 xp!
@@MichaelSharp667 kill missions mate. You always start on a 90° angle to the wind so how would you position yourself properly to hit their sails? Think that would be a good idea for a video too.
Yes! I actually have a technique for kill missions that I have made a video on. You can use this method to cripple the enemy ships sails on your first few passes if you’d like. Here is a link to the video. Naval Action Basics: Speed "Kill" Mission Tactic
hi, can you please show and demonstrate to us how to use a rate 6 ship to finish the kill mission for rate 6 please? for examnple 1 rate 7 ship v.s 2 rate 7 or 1 rate 7 v.s 1 rate 6
if you board the ship, can't you just click the box to sink it after you take the extra loot? which should still give the xp and reales, youd get from outright sinking
Yes this can be applied to another player. Actually, I lost my l’Ocean a few weeks ago due to this when two enemy Wasa’s and a Christian jumped me. In that case, there really was no hope - but in a different scenario, I would say managing your sails and trying to stay upwind is key. Also, change up your moves. It is easy with the ai because as you can see, it makes the same course adjustments every time, but a player can do whatever they want. Be unpredictable and that may get the enemy ship off your stern. Also, destroying the campers sails is key because they often will be faster/have a better turn rate than you, so you need to take that advantage away from them. I hope that answers your questions!
if u are farming in a live white big ship and u are alone is very hard to survive vs players, better run to the fortress. But always u go to sail in OW u need to have an strategy prepared. For exaple, teak white bucen with musquets and marines or mods to prevent to be raqued....
Agreed. The ocean I mentioned above was set up for PB I was going to with WO/WO/very sturdy, so there wasn’t very much maneuvering ability. Hard to survive that and better if you have a lighter build with those types of mods.
I have tried this in 3rd rates. I would turn fully into the wind, the player will think you are dumb. Make sure your sails are side ways and hit your 9 key to get your boarding up. As they come around to stern rake you hit the depower and your ship will start to sail backwards, if you time it right they will run into your broadside and you can board them. At most you can slow them down enough to manual sail your way out of irons and blast their broadside.
Yes I am reading from a script. I like to plan in advance what I am going to say so that I don’t forget anything/leave anything out. Sorry this seems dull to you!
On the contary the commentary was spot on.. you often get this with people who know what they are doing they do not need to say much.. Your comment on the other hand is extremely dull.
Great video Michael, very much appreciated!
Thank you!

Thank you for making this, I am new to the game and it was very informative.

I love your videos man, well done.

Revenge for the Santisima, I see!
Bloody Frogs. Completely defenceless without numbers.
Isn't that right, Michael!
great video, just a quick question, how would you recommend you do this through the missions? you cant locate yourself before you enter battle
Which missions are you referring to? Kill missions or the tutorials?

There is a stats screen you're popping up from time to time, how are you doing that?
Can this be applied to a player? What are the stern camping counter tactics?

@@traviscroney9140 Hit the 9 key three times quickly and you also cut the Boson's whistle short, concealing your intentions.
how do you get those missions with 1st rates only???
Interesting subbed!
Is it possible to do this with a 5th rate????
How much exp did you earn ?
If I remember correctly, it was clase to 1500, but if I do the same fight in a Wasa, the xp would be more.
Oh ok
Why is your voice always so low?
you arent "upwind".the naval term is you have the weather gauge
Well I just got screwed over by a person using this tactic
3:35 69 crew members died. Nice
