    This is Grandpa Canuck from the battle here. The action was a hostility and we wanted to have 4 port battles set all at one time. We delayed sinking the last ship on purpose as as to coordinate this with 3 other fleets in other battles. It was a success and in the end we had 4 battles set against the enemy nation all starting within a few minutes.

    good vid! what wood combo and what upgrades do you use or recommend?

    • @MichaelSharp667
      @MichaelSharp667  4 года назад

      That depends on what you intend to do with the ship. Live Oak/White Oak or White Oak/White Oak are preferred for grinding ai missions, but if you’re intending to do PvP or Port Battles, you may want to look for a Teak/WO one for the added speed. Also, the very best ships are made with seasoned wood, but it takes a long long time/is expensive to get them. I think I have heard the cost for a seasoned ship is 5-7x higher than a normal first rate.

    • @MichaelSharp667
      @MichaelSharp667  4 года назад

      Oh and upgrades - you’ll want Cartagena Caulking, Northern Carpenters, and maybe British Gunners? The elite versions of those last two are the Northern Master Carpenters and the British Gunnery Sergeant and they are VERY good.

      @@MichaelSharp667 thanks for the reply. Im only doing PvE and i have a ocean live/white seasoned from the gift. So im looking for upgrades. Someone mentioned the floating battery upgrade somewhere before.

    • @MichaelSharp667
      @MichaelSharp667  4 года назад

      Yes that is a fun upgrade to play around with. You’d be looking for “Floating Battery 1-3rd”. It does severely limit your speed though, and if you’re already LO/WO, you’ll be a slow-moving tank! Haha so you’ll need to be careful not to get boarded and not to have someone stern-camp you, but it could be fun to experiment!

    • @Xerv
      @Xerv 4 года назад

      @@MichaelSharp667 yeah i might try it out with a navy clock since it has 5 slots so the speed loss is less severe

    Is it possible to save video like your awesome opening clip?

  • @ob1983
    @ob1983 4 года назад +2

    Ps. Michael, meant to ask if it would be possible to do a Clan video - showing what interface becomes available when in a Clan. Also, how things kinda work economy etc.. . I am not in a Clan and I am keen to understand how it all works. Finally, I am currently on PvE server, do you need a whole new profile and to start from the beginning when are setting up on PvP? Cheers

    • @MichaelSharp667
      @MichaelSharp667  4 года назад +1

      Yes I could incorporate that into a future video. The game is much more enjoyable in my opinion in a clan, though I know there are solo players, and sometimes 1-person clans. If you are currently playing on the PvE server, all you need to do is click the War Server when you start up and you’ll be able to play on that server as well, though you’ll be starting from the beginning. Let me know if you choose to do so as we would love to have you in my new British clan, the British Royal Vanguard.

      @@MichaelSharp667 cheers for the offer, I will do that, I am just finishing off my Admiral rank on PvE 56,000 / 76,000 xp (proper grind). Feel sort of ready for PvP now after "serving my time". Love the clan name, my grand father had a fishing boat called "Vanguard". I will drop you a note when I get done 👍

    • @MichaelSharp667
      @MichaelSharp667  4 года назад

      Yes it is a big grind and too bad you’ll have to do it again if you start again on PvP! Cool anecdote about your father’s boat! 👍

    @micheal sharp. I am wondering if it is still a decent game to buy as of 2021. I really love the 1700-1800 navel warfare, but never really noticed this game :(.... Are there still enough players online to have some fun? And how about updates and clans/teams?

    • @MrNikko85
      @MrNikko85 3 года назад

      It's been picking up lately. Between 200 and 700 players online every day on the PVE server. If you love the age of sails, this is the best game yet

    • @dennis885600
      @dennis885600 3 года назад

      It really depends on what you want to do. There are still lots of players online on the servers. For the clans I really wouldn't know how many are still active

    So - in real life these "line-of-battle ships" became known as "battleships" - why are they called "lineships" in the game?

    • @MichaelSharp667
      @MichaelSharp667  4 года назад

      I think all of the terms are used interchangeably within the Naval Action community. I’ve heard them referred to as SOL (ship of the line), line ships, line of battle ships, etc. They all basically mean the same thing.

    • @LeifurHakonarson
      @LeifurHakonarson 4 года назад +1

      @@MichaelSharp667 I never doubted the meaning - it was only the word itself that I found strange, there being no tradition of so referring to these ships in real life. I think I have discovered why this has happened in the game - both German and (perhaps more significantly) Russian refer to "lineships" (лине́йный кора́бль) where English uses "battleships".

    Why were you trying to dismast the Vincent NPC? I thought NPC ships sucked and weren't worth capturing.
