I wish I would have seen this video a year ago!!!!! I was a Whoop OG. I loved the app. I loved the recovery score and the journal. Once they started making us pay a monthly fee, I was done. I didn’t pay $400 for the honor of continuing to pay another $30 a month; forever. The Athletyc app has given me back the whoop functionality I’ve been missing. And you convinced me to upgrade my Apple Watch to the ultra. I didn’t need convincing, I just needed that extra “do it!” Whisper in my ear

Worth mentioning that you get all the same tracking features from a Series 8 than you do an ultra which is only £399 vs the Ultra's £849. The most important data can be found on the even cheaper Apple Watch SE

Only diff Is battery life with the Ultra... It makes a difference when tracking sleep. If you work at an office honestly the series 8 & SE make so much financial sense lol😊

@@thebryanpereira exactly, not worth it. If you work in an office you can put your watch on charge when you get in (so you can focus on work) and then once it's 100%. Plus when you shower and get ready you can top it up.

I was deciding between the 2. It’s the same price each month with cellular connectivity. For me the Athlytic app is plenty of info for my fitness needs. Whoop clearly gives you more information for your fitness but for $30 a month for each I couldn’t justify getting a whoop when the ultra is so much more of a device. It was a close race. Whoops charger is the best charger of any device period

    • @zehph
      @zehph 11 месяцев назад

Didn’t seem like whoop has much more than Athlytic, you can have a similar experience for behaviors with custom tags for sleep on Athlytic and the recovery assessment when you take the extra minute to do a breathing session after waking up before using your phone or anything is so good.
The dashboards and historical information on Athlytic is really nice as well, I don’t have a whoop to compare the readiness and exertion estimates from each one, but Athlytic has been spot on for me, even on the historical data it imported from days before I got the app.

  • @ellykabboord_

I wear both as well, but one area I think Whoop really does excel with athletes is the “personal assessment” you can review each month. I’ve worn my Whoop for years and it is incredible to see my fitness patterns based on the colored coded HRV score showing fitness up or down from month to month. Also, being able to access those over the past years. Great video by the way!

With the Apple Watch ultra I get about 4 days worth battery life. Probably due not using cellular, wakes only when I scroll the dial and use my withings sleep mat as my sleep tracking device. The Apple Watch is the cheaper bdevice in long run, you don’t have to worry about them going bankrupt and is there more flexible device.

I think the ekg, calorie counter, meditation apps, heart rate monitor all seem really useful for me. I already have an iPhone and I am leaning more towards an Apple Watch. But I just don’t know. I don’t like have to pay a subscription when I can just get the Apple Watch with a one off payment. I know I can track the route of my walks and other things with an Apple Watch.

I’m trying out loop for the next month. You basically answered my question. I’m trying to fill in the spots where the apple is not succeeding. Sounds like the Woop does that. Especially with the sleep tracking and right now in Apple does not have the heart rate recovery feature working. I’m hoping whoop will have that covered. So that’s it. I’m trying to get both of these to work in conjunction with each other.

Before watching this video I already know I’d always choose the Apple Watch over the whoop strap due to the cost. It whoop was a one time payment rather than a subscription based payment id buy one instantly however paying £18 a month at the very lowest is ridiculous. Especially on top of the cost of living right now. I can’t justify that for myself.

Yeah I had the whoop for about 2.5 years, I really loved the layout, weekly, monthly, annual fitness reports. Strain indicator. Battery. But after you've spent enough for a brand new garmin or Apple watch and you have a device that doesn't even tell time I got frustrated. A couple years ago nit was much better than the competition as gar as measuring recovery, hrv, o2 nowadays everything does some version of that. I wish they did the subscription but once you reached say 2 years it drops to 5 bucks a month or something.

Lets start with WOOP 4.0 - customer service from purchase is poor, took me nearly a 6-weeks to get my WOOP 4.0 delivered and that was with continuous follow ups and just a complete round about of communications, every time i spoke to someone i had to explain myself again - and their management (seniors) just lack in communication skills all together. The WOOP 4.0 itself, average, does nothing that any other decent fitness watch does (and they tell the time). Sleep tracking, WOOP does not track your patterns as 100% accurate, if you are disturbed at night, WOOP does not recognize that you woke up, i.e, to use the bathroom or general waking - Apple would recognize disturbance - based on such the WOOP is not 100% accurate. WOOP drains your battery, it is continuously connected via bluetooth, or if you close the app, it takes ages to update the information - I find WOOP a bit of a scam.

As a triathlete, I think I can live without Apple Watch but can’t with whoops. I strongly recommend anyone who treats your sports seriously get a whoop. You can train way better with it

Was the data tracking consistent between both of them? For example, did both trackers record the same number of steps/heartrate/calories?

Having a visual representation of my sleep performance (hours recommended vs hours slept) subconsciously motivates me to put more effort into reaching the "hours recommended" number. Sort of like a game. I think the journal feature is the most underrated tool though. Most reviewers only talk about wearbles in the context of numbers (RHR, HRV, STEPS, CAL) but when you take the time to add a customized journal Whoop will start to give you deep insights after about 30 days on which behaviors correlate with statistically significant changes in your data. All you have to do is build a list of journal questions and answer them when you wake up. Example: everybody knows eating fruits and drinking water are good for you. But wouldn't it be better to know which of the two has the most impact on your unique physiology? Whoop can tell you this after you've done enough journals. It could also tell you things such as how late you can drink caffeine, or how many hours of stretching per week actually improves your physiology. So instead of just putting 100% effort into the myriad of generic food pyramid-esqe health recommendations you can better spend your time/money on things that have been objectively measured (HRV, RHR,...) and correlated with your personalized behavior journal.

Hoe do you use both? For example you go running, does it not duplicate your workout in your apple health if you start a workout on both devices?

@@ShervinShares thanks for the quick response! Something you might want to mention next time, it's a massive disadvantage compared to apps from even 7 years ago I used to use, which would give you notifications via headsets!
