Hi just come across your channel. Absolutely brilliant, love your reviews. It's going to be my first Christmas alone this year as my wife passed away in January. Am absolutely dreading it being on my own
I think we have to bear in mind that Gareth is very used to hot curries and chilli challenges etc - I'm quite sure that Vindaloo would blow the top of my head off - yes I know - I'm a wimp - but it certainly looked nice and great tip to moisten the naan before toasting - now that is something I can safely eat!
No wimp Anna just have brains. I used too get wrapped up in all that nonsense of having a curry that’s a challenge too eat and it’s just daft. Unless you really do enjoy love hot curries and some people genuinely do, just stick with the good old Baltis etc. personally I can’t stand those super hot curries it just ruins the meal. If you want a curry that’s slightly hot but not super chilli I found the Jalfrezi is the best too go for.
@@matty6848 I like to be able to taste ALL the ingredients and to be able to ;pick out the spice mixes - too much heat simply kills off my tastebuds - and of course there is serious hell to pay the next day when you have to have a serious conversation with the big porcelain telephone!
That did look very tasty Gareth! Incidentally a traditional Goan vindaloo isn’t very hot, it’s just a tradition carried on by British curry houses to introduce a very hot curry to brits years ago! It’s originally made with pork instead of chicken, but any meat can be used to an individuals’ taste…
I don't normally go for a vindaloo, I usually opt for madras....got to be honest though, you had me salivating with that lol! I think I would have eaten it with chapatis rather than naan. Looked tasty though mate. 👍🏻
Looks nice, unfortunately my oncologist has banned any curry except for the mildest lentil curry after I had colon surgery. I really like your channel.
Not bad for a supermarket offering, they always big up the chilli rating that seldom delivers on heat expectations, but they do generally taste nice from all the other spices in the dish.cheers👍
I absolutely love your videos! I’ll be using this Morrisons dish on my next video! Perfect for a catch up with my subscribers on a live. Cheers G! I was hoping it was hotter than a madras I’ve gotta say!
Have you tried the "Too Good to Go" App? The stores (in your area) makes a bag of reduced items and then sells them at a reduced price for around £3-5. Sometimes you get rubbish but you're usually quite surprised at what you get (from supermarkets, restaurants, Greg's, coffee stores like Starbucks) and they're rated so if they score higher they usually do good bags. Definitely worth a try probably a lot of us subscribers have used it or heard of it
I bought one of these yesterday and I'm having it tonight. I love your idea of no rice and pouring it over naan bread, I'm going to try that! Cheers Gaz. 👍
I used to work with an Indian, he said they hardly eat curries (as we call them) with rice. Normally with naan or chapatti which they use like a utensil.
Haven't tried this yet, but the (£3.40) Takeaway Gunpowder Potato and Chana Masala and Pilau Rice from the same range is very tasty, as is the (£1.50) Takeaway Indian Aloo Gobi Saag.
great video, just discovered your channel and i like it! re the volcanic vindaloos in morrisons, they seemed to have disappeared sadly, i love hot curries and i was very impressed with the volcanic vindaloos, mega hot, hotter than some genuine indian takeaway stuff i've eaten, you mentioned about people possibly complaining about the volcanic meals, yeah, i'd agree that's probably why they have been withdrawn(assume that to be the case) that vindaloo in this video looked really nice although it's probably not hot enough for me going by what you describe, cheers
i wish Morrison's would bring back the Volcanic Vindaloo and the Fiery Phall again as I do miss them. £3.99 though is far too expensive and out of my price range for a ready meal curry. I've started to make my own now with chicken breast and a jar of curry sauce, the Morrison's jars are pretty good.
I feel my scalp tickling with sweat just thinking about it, and yes I had a few volcanic vindaloos, had to stand up and pace around the kitchen with kitchen roll on my head to catch the sweat.
Then butter the nan again, as you take it out of the toaster. I sprinkle some water and wack it on a pan over the stove for a few minutes. Sometimes I press down on thicker bits around the edge so heats up nice!
I like a hot curry and usually put some Encona Carolina Reaper sauce in the supermarket ones, as they are usually milder than they describe. I tried a phal once in a local restaurant with a pal and never again. We knew the guys that worked there as we were fairly regular and they begged us not to order it. It was early evening and we'd had a few pints, so insisted. The waiters hid behind a curtain chuckling as we puffed and wheezed. Just a sensation of burning and numbness and only the texture of the food, but no taste, apart from the superhot sauce. It took six more pints to get through it, but it was still a weirdly enjoyable experience (I think). I will try the one you demonstrated, with the reaper of course.
Looks good to me but after trying the atomic chicken curry from Iceland years ago I'm stuck on baltis and jalfrezi unless I want to be awake for days on end 😆 can't sleep if can't trust my gut
The problem for me is all these super markets curries which are ment to be hot aren't even medium,, pointless, its like calling mild cheddar mature 🤔 🙄. Great video again 👍, definitely pimp them up if you want any heat .
The garlic and corrinador naans in the air fryer are the best with a touch of water as you say. The vindaloo looks amazing but i daren't go near that. My cut off is a Madras haha
I had one from the local take away and I couldn't stop eating it because my mouth was on fire, plus I was sweating like mad off it. Haven't had one since but might again some day.
I used to buy the Morrisons curry when they were £2. Long gone are those days. Definitely the best ones. Probably still worth £4. But my local Indian only charges £6.25 for a curry.
You should try the Asda Chicken Vindaloo Gareth ( the one with the purple labelling) - I think it's about the best of the supermarket hot curries (I doctor it a bit with a few cooked potatoes and fresh finger chillies) - well worth a try.

It's alright, not that hot though. Their habanero prawns are something, other than superhot chillis they are easily the hottest thing I've eaten off a supermarket shelf. Their curries are good, I've never had a bad one. Their chicken tikka hot is good too.
I prefer to buy a jar of curry/vindaloo sauce, buy a chicken and make a large batch with rice. For a little more cost you get 3-4 meals out of it plus you can tailor it by adding spice to taste.
Hi Gareth. Mate, I have to pass on the vindaloo as my stomach just cannot handle it anymore, but I'll gladly take the mini nann bread and I'll spread them with garlic butter. I hope you thoroughly enjoyed your vinda, it did look so nice. Cheers Gareth 🤤👍😀

cheers for the tip
I remember when they had the proper hot ones. The atomic Vindaloo and Phall
YUMMY I av and curries from Morrisons before an enjoyed them happy days 😘
Morrisons do good curry's even the tin ones are good, need to buy me one of them for saturday.....Thanks for the review and ur insight...Bless
No problem 👍
The Chicken Makhani version of this is absolutely gorgeous.
@@NeilusNihilus yep, it is good... And the Iceland Takeaway Creamy Butter Chicken is also great, and half the price! (Makhani and Butter Chicken are two different names for the same dish)
cheers for the tip pal, will try it
That looked really tasty but a hefty price. Don't think I have ever dampened my naans!
It's alright, not that hot though. Their habanero prawns are something, other than superhot chillis they are easily the hottest thing I've eaten off a supermarket shelf. Their curries are good, I've never had a bad one. Their chicken tikka hot is good too.
I like Nourish Curry Ready Meals!! They are delicious. Thank you very much for the content.
you're welcome
The name vindaloo comes directly from the Portuguese cooking technique “vinha de alhos” - basically meat that is marinated in vinegar
good one pal, cheers
Alho is garlic. Vinegar is vinagre !!
The etymology of vindaloo is always a controversial topic .
Some think that it means vinegar and potato (aloo)
I prefer to buy a jar of curry/vindaloo sauce, buy a chicken and make a large batch with rice. For a little more cost you get 3-4 meals out of it plus you can tailor it by adding spice to taste.
Thanks for sharing!
Cheers John sorry to hear that pal.
@@BaldFoodieGuy Thanks. I do miss a bum burning curry. Maybe it's a good thing in the long term.
