  • Karahan Tepe is an amazing Neolithic site, in many ways similar to Göbekli Tepe, but with some features that we don't even see there. This short video captures my tour of the site on November 6.
Like Göbekli Tepe, this site is a settlement that was occupied in the later Pre-Pottery Neolithic A (PPNA, ca. 9000 BC) and earlier Pre-Pottery Neolithic B (PPNB, about 8000 BC), although precise dating of the various buildings still needs more work. The earlier buildings are round, and the latest ones rectangular in shape. All the animals eaten at the site were wild, and probably they were harvesting wild cereals as well.
